I agree 100%! I'm not vegan but enjoy many vegan recipes. I saw another influencer suggest this and tonight I actually happened to thaw my frozen tofu, seasoned it like I would meat, and made delicious "steak bite" in the airfryer. Taste and texture was amazing and it was super quick and simple
You know, I saw this method a while ago on the channel Healthy Food PH and I couldn't figure out why the recipe creator froze the tofu. Now it makes sense. I have bookmarked your blog, really starting to get interested in vegan food, especially the tofu recipes
Thank you! I hope you enjoy them:)
Same! I love getting crispy tofu at restaurants but it’s rarely crispy enough to my liking.
Do you know if she uses firm or extra-firm tofu?
This is A... MAZING. and thank you for putting the recipe/instructions on the screen while you work.
I’ve never tried tofu before but this recipe is what I’m going to follow when I try it! Thank you! 🩷
❤ yep it changes the texture, I've tryed with various types of tofu and find it better to start with hard tofu and very dried. thanks for sharing
Cool but I actually don’t want my tofu to have a texture like meat. I don’t like chicken texture, I am fine with tofu texture 😊❤
hiii there!!... I'm so glad you enjoy this channel as much as I do n nisha's blog has brilliant ideas n techniques that are imperative for taste n texture!!... I get excited for many reasons one is how detailed without being overwhelming.... even if you're not vegetarian just adding side dishes or a couple times a week going meatless allows more veggies n creative yummmy dishes.... she has some great tempeh recipes but if you're more comfortable with tofu that's awsum.... be well mita....
Thank you, I’ll try it.
Enjoy!
😋as usual thank you very much👍🏻
😊

You’re a star, thank you!
Hope you all know that freezing will indeed change the texture, but will Not make it taste like meat. Taste is a result of flavour, but texture of course alters the experience of eating (mimicking the experience of eating chicken or meat)
True.
I'm eat anything halal..but tofu Tempe are my fav all times..this texture could be transformed to be satay tofu..really tasty
We love it
I love your videos, check your Air fryer for aluminum!

Thank you for the time and effort, you have allocated to this recipe. May I ask? Which texture of tofu, is the preferred option? Prior to using the above method?
Hi! It works best with extra-firm or super-firm tofu.
Is it ok to freeze in an unopened container from the grocery store? The liquid turning to ice won't hurt it?
Thank u
I have been looking at numerous recipes for tofu. I'm definitely going to try this one because it's simple & it tastes like chicken! Does anyone know if she uses firm or extra firm tofu?
gonna freeze my tofu from now on.
Judt call it tofu nuggets 😂
Yummy hi can tell me what the name of air fryer
amzn.to/3zkTECS
if you put mayo on it with crushed cornflakes and bake it, it's like nuggets.
How many cubes per serving
SEe the packaging for serving size.
I wonder if this will work on lentil tofu!
it should
So you don't remove the water before freezing or press it?
No need. After it thaws, give a quick press with your hands and paper towel and water comes right out.
what brand of tofu do you use?
Nasoya, Hodo, Wildwood, Trader Joe's (super firm)
tysm
Did these recipes give you sunken eyes ?😅
it's a lie that it tastes "just like meat".
„just like meat“ lol nope. i do eat tofu but it does NOT like meat
No, it does not taste like chicken
Taste dosen't justify killing of animals.
If you eat chicken by the boatload like most people do, nothing is going to replicate it in taste and texture.
I just can't get past the sponge texture after freezing. It doesn't taste like chicken to me....only dishes 😂
Sponge is the right word because it soaks up all the marinade so you can really flavor it however you like! Are you seasoning it?
lol there’s no such thing as vegan chicken! That’s an oxymoron
Naw! This is misleading information 😂. I’m Asian born in Asia and ate tofu since I was born, not because I’m a vegan but it’s just staple food in Asia. I don’t get why western people always press tofu and wipe tofu with towels to try to make it firm and crispy. I’m sorry but I have to say it is ridiculous and such a waste of time and money (some even but some type of gadget to press tofu omg 😂).
First of all, tofu is best to eat it as fresh as possible. I will not ever eat frozen tofu. It will ruin the quality and texture of tofu.
If you want a crispy tofu, just do not ever but tofu from regular groceries! It’s not a good quality, the curdling process is different, and it tastes so weird. Just go to Asian market and get freshly made Vietnamese brand or anything that writes “Chinese style firm” tofu. Guarantee no pressing needed.
I agree! 😊
Ridiculous!
LOL
Why do you want things to taste like meat is that not evidence that actually we crave meat and should eat real meat
just because u crave something doesn’t mean it aligns with your morals. she’s probably an ethical vegan, so while she might’ve liked meat before, she’s made a lifestyle choice to abstain from it because whether it’s from a butcher or a commercial, an animal has to die for u to eat it’s body.
For economical reasons tofu is a heart healthy inexpensive option, even though I’m not a vegan.
I get sick when I eat red meat.
we don't crave meat... we crave things we grew up eating. I've never ate meat and so I've never craved it, but I can see why previous meat eaters do
