Kirk Cousins is an absolute gem. Guys like him are hard to come by. A gentleman, a sincere genuine person and an absolute competitor. Despite his 1 playoff win, he deserves a lot more.

Not really People are silly. 2016, was the start of the league paying QB ridiculous contracts. Only him and Wilson have been in the league long enough and has been consistent enough to warrant a new contracts. The new guys like Mahomes, Lamar, and others will shatter these numbers if they can perform for 10 plus years.

As a vikings fan I wish him the best. At first I was sad he left he was playing so well before he got hurt. I don't think he would have left the Vikings if he knew the Falcons were going to draft a QB early. His belief was, I get to be the man. Then literally the last minute the Falcons tell him their going to Draft Penix. Then it went to, I'm the man for now, i got to keep this rookie from outshining me. As soon as i play bad, everyone is going to bring him up. If i get injured & he plays great, It's over for me. Even if i play great this year, next season i have to worry about the same thing, and the nest season after that. If he stayed with the Vikings, he would be the man no matter what.

It's definitely a black and white thing. These so-called fans and reporters wanted them to draft J.J. or this other white guy. These folks give themselves away with their bad analysis of the situation. The Falcons has a history of not taking care of the QB position especially in the draft. If they drafted defense as a priority the reporters would trash them and say they're just being the Falcons that's known to not take care of their offense and draft horrible players.

You don't pay a quarterback 100 million and not play him. Penix ain't seeing the field for at least two seasons and maybe more because Kirk is playing well. Smith was with the Chiefs for 5 seasons before they traded for Mahomes. Since Kirk hasn't even played for Atlanta yet, it's a completely different situation.

FYI...... Kirk takes care of his body better than Brady. Before this injury, the last time Kirk missed a game due to injury was in 2009 when he was in college which was 14 years ago. Achilles’ injuries are serious but I am not worried about Kirk’s injury when he was taking 7 step drop backs and throwing loss passes at only 4 months after his surgery.
Meanwhile Penix ….has had 4 season ending injuries in his college career. He had the same shoulder injury as Christian Ponder who was a bust. Penix also has had two torn ACLs which is the same injury that RGIII had and he couldn’t stay healthy.
Atlanta doesn’t deserve Kirk
Kirk lead the leading in most QB statistics last year before getting hurt. Penix would have to play like the best QB in the league if he got the opportunity to replace Kirk. Won't happen unless Kirk gets seriously injured this year.

Kirk Cousins was well on his way to be league MVP last season before he got hurt. He'll do great offensively by elevating the play of Drake London and particularly TE Kyle Pitts. Look how well he connected with tight end TJ Hockenson last year.

According to Sportradar data, Since Kirk joined the Vikings in 2018, he has a 111.4 passer rating against the blitz, trailing only Drew Brees and Patrick Mahomes over that span in the NFL. So the data shows that he actually does well against pressure. We all saw what happened vs 49ers when he actually has time to throw the ball....he carved up that defense.
And.....Kirk put up stratospheric numbers in Washington despite having limited weapons. In 2016, he passed for 4,917 yards. His pass-catchers included Jamison Crowder, Vernon Davis, Josh Doctson, Terrelle Pryor, Jordan Reed, Kapri Bibbs, Ryan Grant, and Chris Thompson. None of those guys were All Pros or Pro Bowlers.

His career passer rating is 98.2. which is the 8th highest passer rating in NFL history…in NFL history. He’s 5th all-time in completion percentage. His passing yards per game also ranks 10th all-time in the history of the NFL.

The falcons did him a little dirty the way they handled the penix pick but I think it was the right move. Cousins is not going to be getting better. He’ll be solid but he’s 36 coming off Achilles surgery. It’s good to have a backup ready in the wings who can learn from him.
"Cousins is not going to be getting better." Kirk's history suggests otherwise...He has been doubted and undervalued his whole life and has proved people wrong for years. Also, he obsessively works hard to improve every year.
In 2022, and with a new coach in O’Connell (who was way better than Zimmer with his outdated coaching style and bottom of the league defense), Kirk led the Vikings to a 13-4 season in 2022 despite having a 28th ranked run game and a 31st ranked defense and the greatest comeback in NFL history.
Then in 2023, at age 35 when everyone said that Kirk was for sure going to decline, he had an MVP season before he got hurt for the first time in his 12 year career (he was tied for 1st in touchdowns, 1st in pass attempts, 1st in pass completions, 2nd in passing yards, 3rd in QB rating, and 5th in completion percentage.) And the only reason that he even tore his Achilles was that he wore the longer spikes for the first time in that 12 year career and said that his cleat got stuck in the ground.
Were it not for insane number of times that receivers dropped accurate passes, tipped the ball to other team, fumbled the ball, knocked the ball out Kirk’s hands (this same guard stepped on Kirk’s foot three times in 2022), didn’t block defenders, and committed stupid penalties, the Vikings would have had a far better record. Plus, that 31st ranked defense was still learning new defense under Flores.
