    I want Michael Penix to win a Super Bowl for our Falcons so everyone that talked trash, including myself about this pick would have to eat their words. And if he does win the Falcons a Super Bowl, he’ll be one of the greatest draft picks in Georgia professional sports history.

The Packers planned for Brett's retirement by drafting Arodge, and Arodge retirement by picking Jordan love. The Steelers had no one to replace Ben, the Patriots have no one to replace Tom . I think all teams should do this year 10 get your guys replacement let him sit a few years and learn, you see what the young guy good at and build around him. 80 million for 3 years when all your weapons have less than 3 years in the league, they will be at their primes when he takes over. What annoys me is that everyone who didn’t like this pick wanted us to draft a QB in 21’ when we didn’t even have a roster at all and we had over 100 Mill in cap hits and we still had Matt Ryan on the roster. Now it’s a problem when the roster is stacked on both sides of the ball and we have a win now QB as well to help out the new guy with enough cap space to still build on what we have.

    The reason they took Penix even though they're in position to win the NFC South this year, is because now the Falcons will be winning the NFC South for the next DECADE. Penix comes in and is immediately the best young QB in the division by a mile. Not to mention he is surrounded by the best young offensive weapons in the entire division. Atlanta now has 2 years to continue building the defense, keep the o-line a strength, and extend the offensive skill players and then make use of the final 3 years of Penix's rookie scale contract.

    Since people keep comparing this to the Packers and Rodgers/Love. How many Super Bowls did GB win with both Rodgers and Love on the roster? 0, goose egg, none. How about with both Favre and Rodgers? Again zip, 0, nada. As a Packers fan the ugly truth of the "Green Bay model" for QBs is that it isn't about winning Super Bowls, it's made for stability and team that good but not great, to ensure the team never gets terrible- but at the cost of greatness, at the cost of going all-in to win a SB.
    One of the biggest issues why GB didn't win a SB in Rodgers last 3 years in GB was come playoff time GB's one dimensional passing offense with only Davante Adams got shut down completely and our forever suspect secondary got chewed up. Tee Higgins was still on the board when they drafted Love and so were a bunch of soon to be pro bowl secondary players.

  • @SportsBossMan
    @SportsBossMan Před měsícem +1

    Oh, Penix belongs in the NFL. Just not on the Falcons! This selection at #8 is bad on so many levels. The obvious: why did you pay $100 million GUARANTEED to Kirk Cousins then? If you were going to do something like this you don't sign Cousins. Obviously, they didn't plan ahead. This is the same group of executives that talked Arthur Blank out of hiring Bill Belichick to save their jobs - only the greatest head coach in NFL history. They went all-in on signing Cousins, and now they're hedging their bets. What if he gets hurt? Well, you sign a capable backup QB in the off season. Did they do that? No. So you used up a highly valuable 8th pick in the Draft to sign a guy you HOPE doesn't play a down for you. Nice. Because if Cousins gets hurt, you're NOT gonna win anything with Penix at QB. In the future? Maybe. But now, no chance. Even though Penix is talented - he's still a rookie. And you've flushed 100 million down the toilet.
    All offense players went in the 1st 7 picks, so you had the cream of the crop of defensive players in the entire college ranks. Did you shore up the defense with a great player for Cousins? Nope. Their pass rush was HORRENDOUS. So now you have to try and fill it with a bunch of lesser-talented players, which means those picks could have been used to shore up other needs. Think about this Falcons fans: the next time they give up 35 points because their defense isn't good enough, will you be happy you have Penix as your backup QB - who isn't even playing?
    The fans should be pissed. The owner should be pissed because he'll probably die before the Falcons win a Super Bowl. The Vikings are pissed, because by signing Cousins to such a mammoth contract, Minnesota couldn't re-sign him. Michael Penix should be pissed. He's not gonna play (barring a serious injury to Cousins again) until he's at LEAST 27 years old - if not later. Kirk Cousins is an excellent QB. But even excellent QBs need a defense! Is Michael Penix gonna rush the passer? If he is, great pick! Even the great John Elway didn't win championships until Denver made the defense top-notch. Without the #8 pick being spent on a defensive player, the chance of them being top-notch are slim and none.
    And this crap that they were following the Jordan Love model of the Green Bay Packers is bogus too. Love was 21 and inexperienced AND he was a low first round pick. Penix is 24, very experienced as far as games played, and was a HIGH draft pick in the first round. Not the same at all. The sad thing is Michael Penix is ready and able to be an NFL QB right now. Instead, he's gotta sit around for 2 or 3 years when he could be out there learning to become a great player. The Atlanta Falcons decision is worse than them not just kicking a field goal to beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl. With morons like these guys in charge, they'll NEVER get back there. NEVER.

  • @brentmichael4770
    @brentmichael4770 Před měsícem +1

    We really have to stop drafting back up QBs in the 1st round! And making a big deal about these bumbs! That would be like someone in the early 2000s getting excited because Spurgon Win was drafted by their team. Every year, we take 5 QBs and 5 teams go for these jobbers in round 1. It's a wasted pick and sets the team back years. Only 2 of these years QBs will be good at best, and JJ, Penix, and Nix are not one of them. The vikings are the only ones that make some sense because they are desperate. This will be the last year of this nonsense after Broncos Falcons and Vikings show the league how stupid this is.

    Penix may end up being okay in the NFL sitting for a few years behind Cousins, but he just doesn't have what it takes to be an elite level QB like Dak. He is too injury prone for one, but he lacks the intangibles and ability to oversee the entire field. I think he is way better than JJ McCarthy, but he will be lucky if he reaches half of Dak's level when it comes time for him to start.

Dak started from Day 1 because he already had the NFL caliber traits NFL coaches are looking for. You just listen to podcasters who don’t actually watch the Cowboys games talking bad about Dak and believe them because it’s the “cool” thing to do. Learn ball kid.

      @@BigKeckison Bro you're projecting hardcore 🤮 I disagree that Dak is elite because that's my opinion. Dak started day 1 because Romo got injured. Prospect wise he was pretty good and was overlooked because of the dui and not standing out in any particular area.
      I like Dak, have since he was in college. Yet every year year more talent is added and we get the same results 🤷‍♀️ like why is Dak the qb you're gonna harp on if we're using the term elite? Dak is average and at times above average until proven otherwise. The money is why he's so controversial.
