As a true Vikings fan, I still am happy about locking him up long term. Qb on rookie contract, AMAZING weapons around the qb, and a very exciting defense that’s getting better and better. The Vikings were smart with their money the past couple seasons to keep this contract from crippling us.
Justin Jefferson is amazing and changes the defenses and schemes that he faces. He helps the locker room and is a true leader.
Even though the Vikings could have gotten so much for him, I think this was a good move. It’s not crippling the team….and honestly it helps the moral of the entire locker room.

It's not a yes or no conversation, the roster matters. The Vikings specific roster includes a rookie QB that you are set to start, that allows you to put more money into a WR. The Bucs had an aging vet QB that didn't command a crazy amount so having great WR corps worked, plus one of those star WRs was not getting big money yet. The Rams won with a big time WR who wasn't getting paid crazy yet. So the idea that the Chiefs won without receivers is a really misguided notion because they are the only team with Mahomes. There is no one way to win even though that's what the media turns it into every year after seeing who won the championship.

I am a cowboy fan (sadly haha) and I don't think paying CeeDee lamb 35 million will solve our problems. I'd let him and Dak play this season out and let's see where we go with this combo. I'd pay Micah for sure, we got Diggs who is FIRE, I'd get Bland paid and give Lance a shot this year if we are sucking or next year and draft a WR in the second round and a QB in the first so we enter the cycle to find a generational talent. The cowboys haven't drafted a QB in the first since Troy Aikman. I don't care if we go 3-15 for 3 years if that means we get chances at hitting with a QB in the first round.
Now, that is an extreme I do believe we will be able to get good play out of Lance because of his mobility, we have Ferguson who is a BEAST and we also have other WRs that will be potentially good. If not, let's sign someone like Tee Higgins that will become available. So NO I don't think we need to pay 35 million to CeeDee Lamb. I'd be okay if he walks.

The playaction works when you have a WR that is a threat downfield. Two in the case of JJ he was drafted by Vikings, so it shows that if perform like he did you will get paid as such. This helps the enegry in the locker room. It's hard to see someone work hard and get told no to a raise when you proves you earned one.

Because he is the best RB\WR in the league and can do things all the rest do not, or not as well as he does. With that said, I think he's over paid, along with the top 8 QB's, JJ, Bosa and many other player's but that is what the market allows so it's the owner's & GM's fault for paying it.

  • @mpg3946

Yes. There are too many of them coming through to pay them this closely to QBs. Outside of Jefferson, Hill and Chase - they should be paid much less.

Many are over valued and over paid. A rare few are well deserving of it. However, we have to keep in mind that they have been under paid for the first 3 or 4 years of their careers. Sometimes even for a 5th year.

What’s happening to RBs these past years will happen to WRs bc the WRs that are coming out of college already NFL ready. The top 5 or 10 WR will get their money but the other ones teams will move off them.
Tee Higgins will be the first victim of this. Bengals drafted Jermaine Burton they are gonna offer the tag to Tee and then let him go.

Shut down corner more valuable than edge rusher??? Get this guy off the mic lol. Shut down corner has quickly been exposed as one of the LEAST valuable premium pieces. Look how many teams have a shut down corner and the defense still gets cooked. 2024 passing schemes make four very good players in the secondary more valuable than one elite person and three decent ones.

CeeDee Lamb has earned top money. Tee Higgins and Brabdon Aiyuk have not earned the right to receive that type of money yet. They're in that $20 to $25 million a year area. Tag them, or let them play out this year and if someone is stupid enough to paid them top money after this year, let them go for it.

I agree whole heartly with Greeny I'm a Cincy fan and I love Jamar Chase howeve I do believe that the team would be better off with 2 Tee Higgins level wide outs for nearly the same amount of money that they are going to sign Chase for. I don't believe that Chase or Jefferson or any receiver is worth 20 million or so more than other pro bowl level receivers

i mean look at the cheifs recievers room, i think any trio of receivers and the cheifs still find a way to get back to the bowl, people are definitely over valuing receivers. What you need to do is get a quarterback in this league. otherwise you’re not having a chance and that’s clearly been the case the last decade competent coach and front office and a really good quarterback any team set up for success at that point

What Greeny doens't understand is, good isn't good enough. You know who's good, Garrett Wilson, but he's no JJ. You could easily argue that Jordan Addison is better than Wilson. Be it statistics and/or eye testing game impact. Yeah, those kind of guys are easier to find. The difference is, it's EASY to walk away from the Wilsons and Addisons, you can't walk away from JJ. As good as Tyreek is, his game is 90% speed, you can find speedsters every year. They literally won without him. Most of that due to QB play but the Chiefs weren't struggling on offense. Unless you have a Maholmes, you're better off keeping your talent than to let them go and replace them with less talent given what they've already done. Now realistically, how many Maholmes are there in the league, how many players are at his level. Yeah, I'd keep my talent until I find myself a Maholmes. Why do you think bad teams stay bad.
