    This discussion really needs to happen and more of us have to be vocal about it. Let's transition from Simcraft back to Warcraft. Good video man!

    100% good advice. For instance, Sims wouldn’t tell me Manic Grieftorch is the BiS trinket for my rogue in raids, but then, the bots can’t see the resets I can expect to get on every pull due to certain raiders in my group who can’t seem to dodge the most obviously telegraphed mechanics.

    I also feel like you left out an important aspect, which is the interaction of versatility and damage proc trinkets. Some classes that stack a lot more vers will get better results from things like the Augery or Rumbling ruby etc. Since other stats like mastery don't interect with trinket damage. That is all. Great content!

    Great video! The main rule I use when simming is to reduce the number of variables. Ex: If I want to sim for a M+ dungeon I'll do 2 simulations: one for 40sec - 1min, 5-10 target patchwork sim + one 2/3min ST patchwork sim. Then I make the best decision I can with the results.

    I've been telling people this for years, Unless it's a patchwork fight with no movement and you have it all timed perfectly then sims don't equate to real game numbers. For Keys it's better to do a sim for boss 3 min, with or without movement, and sim 5 bosses 40sec-1 min and see if you can go for the 5 boss without losing too much on Single Target and find your own builds/gear on how you play. Like with DH, You shouldn't run wildfire talent if your movement takes you out of packs too much, unless you stay in there tight and pref use a timer, wildfire is a big loss over running glaive temp/essence break, etc. also depends on what kind of pulls your tank does.
    Another DH example since I play one as an alt is with the trinkets you brought up. Aug of the primal flame Fkn slaps hard. Idc what sims say, it's BIS for havoc IMO, well maybe not this season since Grieftorch is the bomb. But last season i had every trinket and tested them. Glad you mentioned Cat signet brand because Ive been saying its trash all year. Great video.

    I feel the anvil especially illustrates the whole point quite well, where you really have to think about it, as the answer to "is it better?" is "it depends".
    I used the anvil on my fury warrior in previous season for M+, and it can actually be really good if you manage to keep it up. However, how much you can keep it up depends on dungeon, route, your tank, and your own ability to keep it from resetting by refreshing it and abusing critter etc.
    It's tricky, but you can generally get away with it dropping off just 2-3 times max during a run, unless something goes wrong.
    Like on a decent Ruby Pools run you'll probably have it drop after the first boss, and maybe after the second depending on where you end up and how quickly you can get to the stairs, and that should be it.
    However, 1 wipe or having it fall off due to waiting for healer to get mana, ress or whatever else and it punishes you hard.
    Sims shows that x is better than y, but that only applies if you can actually execute it and/or capitalize on it. Same goes for talents and builds, where the question is always "can I do it?". If not, something else might be better even though it sims lower.
    Being able to use something at 100% of its potential is better than using something that sim 10% better, but you are only using it at 90% of its potential.
    Consider the factors at play, sims are perfect, you and your environment are not.

      Another example is nelth call to chaos with priests. every guide is suggesting it because of "sim it" but anyone who played with it in S2 in in comments and discords suggesting not to use it in M+... why? very low proc chance and it can (and consistently will) proc as mobs die being active between packs. It's like wasting an on use 3 minute trinket when mobs die but sims don't assume this happens, ever.

    I Sim for Single Target Patchwerk and 8 Bosses at 40sec - 1 min.
    The general rule or Havoc is that Haste = good the fewer targets there are.
    Versatility is generally better than Haste in AoE and Crit is our top prio until about 52 - 58% Crit Chance.
    So for most content you can go with Crit > Mastery >Versatility > Haste in that order and do just fine.
    And for raid it would probably look something like Crit > Haste = Mastery Versatility
    Talents affect what stats we want.

    Well, you shouldnt be dropping anvil stacks on keys, unless there's a big time with no combat, but you can also cast it on nothing to refresh and hit those little insects on the ground to refresh it, most dungeons have a bunch of them.

      I'd love to see a video of a havoc dh successfully doing that in a key this season and for it to be worth it.

    • @bojnebojnebojne
      @bojnebojnebojne Před měsícem

      You shouldn't be running Anvil in the first place in a key unless it is a super difficult tyrannical key.
      Manic Grieftorch + Whispering Incarnate Icon are the better choices for most keys on most affixes bar some niche cases.

    Wow this video had a lot, maybe we could even get a little series on how to manipulate sims to get more info in the future (fight timings, fight types, etc)

      target dummy (bc you'll almost never have all buffs) and roughly the accutal fight lengh.
      For me it works very well. When I'm doing less dps in a normal fight I know sth is wrong or I moved "to much" (maybe tactics) but it almost every time shows your acctual. For trinkets I do (way to) many sims with different times

    • @ricktifierful
      @ricktifierful Před měsícem

      @@dariuswhitefang2993 there's a lot that can be done to avoid a one size fits all. Like for example, when I dimmed anvil it stayed on top all the way down to a 3min fight where it was barely edged out by Augury. Knowing how fight times affect gear can be useful info that sims CAN provide. I do disagree that you will almost never have all buffs, in a 20+ raid group having all buffs is pretty easy

    The sark cloak is mostly fine for non-progression.
    Why do people run dungeon sims? Run 40 sec or 1 min patchwork sims at 6 - 10 bosses.

    • @Jedithtv
      @Jedithtv  Před měsícem

      Because a 40s sim is essentially just your opener on a big group of mobs and nothing else.
      If you're simming for AoE you want to be doing a variety of different sims and find common threads

    • @Jenkyllllls
      @Jenkyllllls Před měsícem

      @Jedithtv If you want common threads create a custom apl. Basically no simple sim will do that. 40s or 1 min sims do an aoe burst accurately with all cds.
      Dungeon sim shows glaring errors when you use the droptimizer. It will regularly show the wrong trinkets just like why it says grab sark cloak. It's fine for aotc but if your pushing 15+ not a great choice. It legit has fall back choices. For instance it picks grief which is actually a loss in many cases.
