Leopard Gecko Can someone help me please fast I'm getting a baby leopard gecko and my mom really don't want to have crickets or Dubai roaches in the house is it possible to feed a couple mealworms until the gecko mature and then I feed crickets or can I keep meal worms as a staple also how many meal worms do I feed a baby thanks [edit] also how long does it take for meal worms to turn to beetles because I don't want beetles and is there any other worm that does not turn into anything thanks and if I have to i will get crickets but please answer my questions someone please
I literally just got orange wood lice last weekend. I just set up a bugarium for them so they can breed before I put some in my crested's viv. It's so cool that you have these too!
Hey! I'm a leader over on Reptiles amino and I got so excited when you started talking about our amino XD We were all wondering where all these new users were coming from!
AntzPhilippines PH Amino is an app with separate communities. Amino itself is not run by me, the Reptile amino is run by me and some others ^^ Amino decided to sponsor her, not the Reptile amino specifically.
I have some of these isopods in with my leopard geckos tank for a clean up crew and they seem to be doing good in there, they have been in there for a month now and they haven’t all died off and I think there breeding as I tend to keep one corner of my tank humid for them
Idk for sure, but judging by the shape and price of those pods they're probably Porcellio scaber or Porcellio Laevis. Giant Spanish isopods (Porcellio magnificus) are thinner in shape and are usually far more expensive.
Hello, I had a Isopod and his tank was high enough that he didn't need a lid for it and after 2 perfectly fine weeks my Isopod went missing after my investigation I found a spider on a spider web right next to my Isopod's food and his favorite area to relax. Now I'm thinking the the spider ate him even though the spider was smaller. Do you know how I can prevent this from happening again?
'Giant Orange' is a misnomer. These pods are fairly normal sized for terrestrial isopods, & even in their own genus they aren't larger than ordinary. It's best if you call them by the name 'Spanish Orange' isopods to remove confusion. People that label them 'Giant Orange' isopods often do not include the species, adding even more to the naming confusion. That said, you are quite right, having a backup culture is good if you are doing a bioactive. Humidity levels depends on the species. Some like it VERY humid, some like it VERY low humidity. It's always best to offer a moisture gradient. That way, the isopods can hydro-regulate as needed.
I have some and as far as im aware they are just an orange morph of a common Spanish species that has been selectively bred to be more orange than you would normally find in the wild.
My local isopods have just started popping up. I’m super excited to have a large collection of them. The real isopods to get though are the Rubber Duckies. 😍
They're only called porcellio sp because they have no species name. Same goes for many other inverts. Also I'd add some rotting wood and leaves to the tub
Looks like Porcellio Pruinosus to me. I actually just got a bunch of isopod species last week. The P. Pruinosus “orange”, Armadillidium Vulgare “Orange vigor”, Armadillidium Maculatum “zebra”, Armadillidium Granulatum, And Porcellio Scaber “morph mix” and I’ve got thousands of dwarf whites isopods. I love them
Leopard gecko I believe these guys can actually work in a drier setup as long as there are a decent amount of biodegradables like leaves and veggies but you will have to replenish the biodegradables when they begin to get lower in a drier setup of course so you can use them with leopard geckos
You’re so fun to watch and inspiring! I am sure you have vastly improved the lives of pets all around the world by educating and entertaining their owners. 😁😊😘
The species you have is Porcelio Scaber orange common names are rough isopod, or Spanish orange isopods I have several species of isopods and various morphs of each.
Hey! A talking Leopard Gecko! I found a few orangish woodlice (in a secret location 😒) and have been trying to breed them. They are orangish or mottled.
great video your voice is loud and clear and fun to ear thanks for the info I have just brought some from ebay as pets your info will come in very handy cheers
Why are these animals so popular now? I mean, at least in my city if you dig a bit into the ground in any park, you can find a whole lot of them, I though they were common all over the world, like flies..
I recently bought a 4 month old Chinese cave gecko when I got home with her she had pooped after putting her in her tank and setting everything up I haven't been able to get her to eat it's been around a week and I haven't seen her eat
I love orange color morph... u r somewhere in europe, right? You guys get more selections there as far as isopods compared to US. Check out other species such as armadillium Maculatum, porcellio magnificus, porcellio haasi. They r very expensive here but i believe it cheaper there
I was collecting them and I found a orange one also it gave birth today usually the normal baby’s are white but the orange ones are really bright orange
Hi. Sorry this question is unrelated to the video, but it's important (to me at least). I've had my leopard gecko for a little under two months, and he really hates me. I wanna know the best way for my leo to get comfortable with me
I know this video has nothing to do with crested geckos but I realy need help asap my baby crested gecko has stayed in the same hide for two days straight I've been checking on him every 30 minutes and haven't seen him out at all he also hasn't eaten I even smoothed out his food so I could see any lick marks but there's nothing. What should I do?
Glad to see you did a video on these. I was dubious about getting them but they do look exactly like the description. My Grey Tropical Woodlice have taken over my terrarium. They have even started eating my living plants. (I still have not bought a Gecko yet) I am wondering if the two species of woodlice will cohabit. I cant decide where to purchase my first Gecko from.
I just watched your Live vs Fake plants video and I was wondering if you had anywhere specific you got your live plants form? Or were they just off the internet/a local garden centre. Any recommendations for shops, websites or places that are good to go to (UK)?
a bit of a mix, some were from internet reptile, though some of the plants do arrive a bit damaged tbh, so a lot of the time i will go to my local garden centre where i know they dont spray them with anything. Then I remove all the soil, wash off the roots, and pop them in the tank. Sometimes you will get things like fungus gnats that happen to just come along with new plants, which is a pain, but yeah have a look around, i bought a couple plants from wilkinsons before too haha
I just got a hatchling a few days ago and I have a few questions. How often should I feed it? should I be worried if it hasn’t pooped yet? and I have a calci dish in the tank for it but I’ve only seen it lick it up once, is it normal for it to not lick up calcium often? I also haven’t seen it sleep in it’s cool hide. It only sleeps in it’s moist hide and in the other warm hide. (The hotspot is at 90 degrees Fahrenheit)
i keep using them in my enclosures, instead of keep buying them; i started trying to get them to breed now theres hundreds O.O so now i guess i need more enclosures :D
Im planing to buy a crested gecko but im wondering if i should do a tank with fake plants or a planted vivarium. I have never owned a gecko befire and this would be my first. What should i choose? Somone pliz responde i need help..:/
Hi leopard gecko. Recently, I’ve gotten a new leopard gecko(his name is Jafar)I got him from this lady who’s daughter got him from a high school because her science teacher had to many pets. When I picked him up, I noticed that his tail looked like what happens after a leopard gecko losses it’s tail. His claws also look very stubby. Plz help, I’ll take him to a vet but I really want advice from a professional as soon as possible. I know this is pretty long but I’ve gotten very attached to him and want him to be safe. Thx
hi, I have a few questions. so my leopard gecko is acting really weird and not eating but she stalks random things in her cage and shes not very active anymore I'm wondering if u know what could be wrong
Possibly. If i were you I'd start off with springtails, if you were doing a natural tank for your baby. However if he's still quite small he'll eventually move into a bigger tank, so it may be worth waiting :)
i have an question about them, i have this terrarium and i put some pillbugs in them, i have this one branch that goes up high, it's the highest point of the terrarium, my pillbugs are most of the time all on the top of the branch, i don't know why they do that cuz i thought they would crawl under the ground or in the little hidehole i made for them, maybe you have an answer to that?
i wonder if they're nibbling on the wood. I mean we call them woodlice here, as they tend to like breaking down rotting wood, and they may be doing that to your branch. Im sure they wont do too much damage though. You could always add moss, and more wood on the floor to encourage them to live there. Also are you feeding them them anything like custodian fuel? they may be a little hungry if they dont have much food to break down/eat :)
Hi i am soon to get a leopard gecko and did lots and lots of research but there’s one thing i am not shure about. And that is do i need a thermostat for my heatmat? Im getting my setup first before i get my gecko so i can see how i need to monitor it and stuff and maybe get some things later on before i burn my gecko lol. And do i need to have my heatmat on 24/7?
Hey guys i have another problem so my geckos crickets got loose with my cats dropping the container and i woulf like to know that as i got most of them back how do i catch the ones that might emphasis on might be in the room still running free

Leopard Gecko vlog?? wut? isopod hours are no vlog
i knew isopods would become a meme.
Does anyone else call them “rolley-polleys” idk where I got that I’ve just always called them that.
Kawaii Corn it's what I've always called them and I'm needlessly annoyed by any other name for them.
@xmemmax what book? I want to read it now😂
It was always either "roly poly" or sometimes "pillbug" when I was growing up. I never heard anyone call them an isopod in person.
Me! wait.. so you mean I used to play with tiny isopods? Ew!
I call the ones that roll up rolly polys and the ones that dont i call wood lice
I literally just got orange wood lice last weekend. I just set up a bugarium for them so they can breed before I put some in my crested's viv. It's so cool that you have these too!

oo i may try that. I put bertie the beetle in ziggys tank as part of the clean up crew haha
It’s isopod hours my dudes

Shifang Zhou that's a huge shame. Maybe over time she will chill on it. I doubt it but I have hope

Let's play a game. Drink everytime you see someone mention something about isopod hours.

Pill bugs are Armadillidium sp. these aren’t Spanish orange (Porcellio Scaber), they’re giant orange (Porcellio Laevis ‘Orange’).
You joined the reptile amino?!
Omg yes! I was going to mention it to you! I’m so excited to see you there!
They're only called porcellio sp because they have no species name. Same goes for many other inverts. Also I'd add some rotting wood and leaves to the tub

the scientific name for the species are Porcellio scaber "orange". The common name for them are Giant/Spanish Orange isopods
You know what's better than amino?.... REDDIT
They are an orange morph of porcellio laevis, which are grey in the wild.
ISOPODS AINT INSECTS FAM X_x
You’re so fun to watch and inspiring! I am sure you have vastly improved the lives of pets all around the world by educating and entertaining their owners. 😁😊😘
The species you have is Porcelio Scaber orange common names are rough isopod, or Spanish orange isopods I have several species of isopods and various morphs of each.

Maculatum, porcellio magnificus, porcellio haasi. They r very expensive here but i believe it cheaper there
ah just looked them up, they look pretty cool. The most common ones available here are tropic grey, and the dwarf white ones. :)
Where do you buy your crickets and mealworms?
Pretty sure they are the spanish type and if so they don't need it quite as damp although not totally dry!
Currently real isopod hour
What a scary voice
My brothers mealworms turned into beetles inside his Crested gecko‘s cageThe only reason we knew what they were is thanks to you thank you so much
We have orange wood lice like these in Canada (BC) if that helps with identifying them.

Hello comments section.
Farewell, comments section
They are porcellio laevis 'giant orange' I think
They called roly-poly’s but they are isopods and you have to respect that also they don’t need all that stuff they’re just simple
Oddly cute!

Hi. Sorry this question is unrelated to the video, but it's important (to me at least). I've had my leopard gecko for a little under two months, and he really hates me. I wanna know the best way for my leo to get comfortable with me
Not the real meme the meme lives in water
The biggest insect ever was a centipede and it was 120 inches long and had 62 legs
well thats terrifying lol
That’s not an insect... Insects have six legs -_-
Fiona Shepley what about a spider it has eight legs
William Wallace SPIDERS ARE ARACHNIDS, NOT INSECTS! I’m sorry but this really triggers me and I don’t even have inverts as pets.
You are such a great youtuber!Keep up the good work!!!
aw thank you :)
*I S O P O D*
I'm thinking they're porcellio laevis

hi, I have a few questions. so my leopard gecko is acting really weird and not eating but she stalks random things in her cage and shes not very active anymore I'm wondering if u know what could be wrong
Probably brumation, what’s the warm side temperature? Or she might be starting to ovulate, you can check her belly
I have a very young crested gecko who's still pretty small, is there a risk he'll try eat one that's 'too big for him' which will cause issues?
Possibly. If i were you I'd start off with springtails, if you were doing a natural tank for your baby. However if he's still quite small he'll eventually move into a bigger tank, so it may be worth waiting :)
Thank you for the advice!
I literally just bought some of these guys on Ebay and came here for assurance 😂😂
I love your vids
They are Porcellio scaber 'Orange'
They are a color morph of the regular Porcellio scaber which is gray and is originally from Europe.
Amino !yay
Awesome video! What camera did you use to get the close ups on the isopods? It looked really nice.
Looks like a Rollie Pollie
It is
I love them
I call them Rollie pollies 😂

Yes, you need a thermostat. You can turn it down to 80 at night, but you don’t need to :)
Hey guys i have another problem so my geckos crickets got loose with my cats dropping the container and i woulf like to know that as i got most of them back how do i catch the ones that might emphasis on might be in the room still running free
it might be a waiting game. The cat should find them. If ive ever accidentally got a stray cricket in the room my cat will always find it for me.
Yes!!! I was seriously just looking into these. Let us know how they do :)
Thank you so much for that app, now I am getting helped for getting a tort
