  • Its 26th December and i decided to make the most of the one day of decent weather wee were going to get so i headed to Loch Lomond to take on Ben Vane this is one of the smallest Munros but don't let that fool you its a wee cracker with a steep accent but the views from the top are stunning.

Now you certainly get a thigh workout on this steep wee bugger, lol.😂😂Nice one Ally.Went back for a visit of this one during the summer.First time i done it i got lost in the cloud at the start before the obvious path was built which you commented on.😂😂😂
Looked like some verglas up top. That's when spikes come i to there own.Great vid.😎👍

Hi Andy this one certainly works the legs for a short one. Seen the weather was going to be good on boxing day so stayed of the drink on Christmas day so i could get out as the weather has been rotten. so glad i got the spikes makes its so much easier and feel more safer up there. Ally 👍

Brill mate. Not done Ben Vane yet but it’s high on our list. Seeing your video sold it even more. Cracking drone footage mate. Oh, we own the same spikes. I really rate them. All the best, Donny & Maxine 👍

Hi Donny thanks again, you will love this one its pretty much straight up and down a good one for the shorter days. the views are brilliant if you get the right day . All these years i have never had the spikes but they make some difference always had crampons but there not really for those conditions. Ally 👍

Brilliant video as usual Ally, the drone footage really shows the character of this wee hill
I'm the same as yourself I've been up there 4 or 5 times it's a cracking walk as are the other Arrochar Alps
I stay in Johnstone so I frequently visit the Arrochar Alps in the winter months because of the daylight hours.
I've bagged 90 Munros so far and I'm looking forward to spring and summer to travel further afield again and hopefully get a good few more done this year
Keep up the good work with the video's and hope to bump into you some day in the hill's 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⛰️

Nice one Ally, some cracking views from there. That was my 2nd munro which was in winter as well, I’ll need to try and get back up it.
Yeh the spikes are great I’ve got a pair of them as well and always felt safe wearing them.

Awesome video Ally mate. I've not done that one yet. Was leaving it for this year. I recently purchased spikes as my other ones were done in. I have got crampons. But always have trouble getting them on. Think i need to work it out before i head up the hills soon. Am wanting to do a munro in the snow again. I was lucky with the wee buchaille last year. Do you recommend any munros in the snow? Hoping to get out in the next couple of weeks.
    Take care
    Alan

Hi Alan thanks again , this is a great wee mountain there's one wee bit near the top in snow or ice its a wee bit dodge as wee bit to scramble up . i would recommend Meall Ghaordaidh in Glen Lyon if your wanting a straight up and down and its rounded no major drops so pretty safe in the snow i have some cracking sunrise photos on youtube in my shorts section. the crampons can be a pain especially when your hands are freezing🥶. Atb Ally 👍
