Under the Keys: Reed Organ Couplers, How it Works

  • This is from a series of short videos I made for my Facebook page a while ago ( / rodneyjantzi.reedorgans for more videos, and don't forget to click "like") but decided to make them available to CZcams as well. I plan to make more of these little videos in the future.
    For the inquiring minds, here is a very quick view of what the couplers do under the keys.

    Great video. Do the keys have little adjustable buttons under them so when the coupler rises, the fingers touch them? Please make more videos showing the workings of these instruments!

      This reply is a bit late, but the buttons aren't adjustable, the wood piece with the metal things on it goes up and down, and when it goes down, the keys can't touch the "fingers".

    Is it possible to reverse the orientation of a coupler? My Seybold restoration does not couple the bass left-wise but right-wise.
