I've clicked so fast on this video! I know I shouldn't watch this because I'm weak and I always end up buying something, but I mean, Kackie's recommendations are so spot on that it's never a waste of money, right? RIGHT?!
“Snobby natural proclivities” is probably my favorite thing I’ve ever heard. You have such a way with words and I don’t mean that in the passive aggressive stupid way, I mean it in the “I want to make the English language my bitch just like you” kind of way.
Please, please forgive me if this comment is insufferable, I don't want to sound like a condescending little 'um, actually' know-it-all pedant.... _but_ I think maybe you'd appreciate this information? maybe?!?
What you're looking for when trying to describe the optical properties of the Laura Mercier is "diffuse reflection", not refraction. This refers to a _scattered_ reflection, where incident rays are bouncing off a surface in numerous, random planes, instead of in a single plane (as in specular reflection). The former creates an image with less clarity (and thus, more blur) than the latter. To put it simply, it's the difference between matte and shiny/sparkly. Though it's obviously way more complicated than that. A substance can have more than one source of reflection -- in the Laura Mercier, for instance, the fluid substrate creates a somewhat diffuse reflection, but the luminosity is maintained through reflective pearl pigments. So you get the best of both worlds.
Refraction, if you're curious refers to the bending of a ray of light as it moves forward from one medium to another. This is what makes a spoon dipped into a glass of water appear distorted. It isn't entirely irrelevant in cosmetics, cause you have things like translucent glitters, where the visual effect is created partially by light being refracted as it moves through the transparent material. But even then, for that effect to be visual, the refracted light has to be reflected into your eyes. We see the world entirely through reflected light (with the exception of objects that produce their own light). In the same vein, I've also heard you refer to light being 'absorbed' by powder -- once again, you're looking for the word 'diffused'. Light being _absorbed_ by a surface would just make that surface appear dimmer.

Great information! Wish Nars would have left out the coconut oil not because I mind the smell but because it’s a super comedogenic ingredient. I keep going back to Laguna powder bronzer after trying so many bronzers. As you said it has just the right amount of gray/neutral tone.
I too am starting to hone in on the Nars Laguna powder being the best neutral shade for me. I have the Laguna cream from the OG LE release and I like it but think I prefer the powder still.
I LOVE the beauty bentos. The one thing I learned with their matte shades is that they don’t love to blend over an eye primer with a brush. They stick and stamp a little bit. I just throw a translucent powder down over an eye primer if I use it.
I have super oily eyelids so I almost always use an eye primer but I have found with the beauty bentos I don’t always have to. If it’s super humid/hot they will crease. But on a bare lid these are INCREDIBLE with just a finger to blend. Sometimes I put my eyeshadow in in the car without tools with these little guys because they are just so easy!
Finally ordered the Hindash palette, cannot wait for it to arrive. I must get those RMS blushes, the look beautiful.

I love Dysco as an all in one palette. I just use a matte cream shadow underneath like Ellis Faas or Danessa.

I have the Kaja Beauty Bento in Chocolate Dahlia and the mattes in there are gooooooooooorgeous as well. I like using the lighter of the 2 mattes as a bronzer.

I just want a tinted sunscreen that I could use as sunscreen and makeup. I wish someone would do this for all skin tones. I thought Tower 28 was going to do it but was soo disappointed. I bought the item beauty concealer and I am 50 and love it but I wish the doe foot was smaller and wasn’t so messy. I more of a beginner at makeup and smooshed a hugs glob of it in my inner corner of my eye. However It could have been that I am pretty blind. Thanks for the suggestion. I use it as a foundation also.
I mix the two lightest shades on the back of my hand and then tap it on with the rare beauty concealer brush and I find it helps prevent applying too much.

She has a reaction to it. I do too, i break out in contact dermatitis almost immediately. I think it’s a pretty common allergy but companies have been so focused on making oxybenzone-free products that they were overlooking octinoxate allergy. Thank God they’re finally paying attention to that🙌🏼
@@kylie_alyss.c Oh thanks for clarifying! I'm a new subscriber. I had no idea it was a common allergin for dermatitis, it's in almost all the sunscreens I've used. I'm one of the odd people that prefers a chemical spf, I find mineral ones dry my skin out or break me out.
