"effortless" is so accurate. You really seem to "get" what Angelina is doing. She is not going to give you all the obvious belting notes, or the cliche arrangements of songs. She doesn't so much do "covers" as she does "interpretations". You have many, many more Angelina performances to hear. By this stage, at 10, Angelina's "child" singer days were over. She was fully professional with 100% adult voice. At 12 she got a great mic for her birthday, moved to LA with her "Shield" (Mom, Sister, Grandma & Uncle), met new people in the music industry & ran off a number of vocal masterpieces, many with acoustic guitarist Ivan Mendez. You should use Rusty's list of "Live Through the Years" playlist. Pick & choose songs you love or you can follow her development as the playlist is chronological. This may sound silly but she is "once-in-a-lifetime" & I'm just so glad I get to see the start of it.
Her Grandmother is a prodigy...and her grandmother's influence on this prodigy...has been incredible...Angelina has absorbed all the influences from the past...an era of seminal music.......that her grandmother obviously loved....and exposed Angelina. to..in her really formative years. The result: is a wonderful rebirthing of all these great songs to an audience that now covers the whole age spectrum. With this sort of background Angelina has a musical grounding that many of her age would not have....the result speaks for itself......
I understood your comments on your first reaction to I Put a Spell on You. You hadn’t see Angelina before, and you wandered into an intentionally stylized performance. You wanted to hear her sing, and today’s video was a good example. Above all, Angelina is a singer who is gifted with an exceptional natural voice, but she has worked hard to master the art of singing. You’ll see that as you move through the very diverse selection of songs ahead of you. I envy that you’re just starting out. I am very impressed at how well you understood Angelina after this song. Yes, she’s completely calm during her performances. She is confident in her abilities, but visibly humble on stage. Her style is never to wow you with vocal fireworks. Instead, she draws you in with her novel arrangements, her timing, and the beauty of her voice. You don’t even want to applaud because you’ll miss something. You’ll see that she has the audience in the palm of her hand right from the start (cue Bohemian Rhapsody right here). It’s so hard to suggest your next review because there are twenty songs that are easily in contention. But to see a side of Angelina you’ve not experienced yet, I’ll suggest “A Million Years Ago”, the Adele cover. You’ll see stripped down, acoustic Angelina with just a beautiful guitar backing her. And you’ll hear what many of us love most. That would be Angelina’s rich, resonant low register, her stunning voice “unplugged”, and her ability to interpret and deliver lyrics better than anyone I’ve ever heard.
FYI based on an interview that Angelina had on The View on ABC in America she started singing when she was 18 months old.....Oh by the way she sang "Fly me to the Moon" on The View...
She's left a thorough documentation of her musical development from the age of seven, and even earlier. They will teach her in singing classes someday.

It never gets old, I feel the same as the first time I felt after listening to this performance. In awe and speechless . Ever since I've discovered Angelina back in January, I've been listening 3 - 4 hours a day. Like stress releasing after a day of hard work. I think I've missed may be once or twice not more than two days when I was painting my sister's house. I thank God every time I'm listerning to Angelina Jordan for putting her on this earth.
Adam, just before she left Norway for USA, she had a final performance at a Norwegian TV program. She was 10 years old but the emotion she put into the song «Every time we say goodbye» was special and not easy for even an adult to produce. So I would be happy if you react to this song.

Thanks for doing this reaction to "Feeling Good". This is one of my favorites because she is just so relaxed and effortless in her delivery. To expand on some of your comments about her being artistic in the choices she makes with her performances: the thing about her that I respect the most is that she pays tribute and respect to every song she sings by giving great deference to the song itself and simply interpreting the intent and story of the piece. She uses her vocalization, tone, and technique, to enhance the meaning of the song instead of just showing off her skills. If the song needs a belted note or a sick run, she will use them. Well, I think we can let you into the club of those who are addicted to Angelina Jordan! This young woman has legions of fans around the world, and all it takes is one or two songs for anyone to get completely hooked. You've got some really fantastic surprises in store for you. Like Rusty said, she doesn't just sing songs. She interprets every song she sings in her own completely unique fashion, and she has an amazing ability to convey the emotions of a song like no other artist. She has reduced most of us to tears more times than we can count. Not only does she do classic jazz standards, she covers more pop artists (she does Adele better than Adele!), and she's written several original pieces. Yes, she does put her own interpretation on her covers, always and she always honors the originals. Her growth is as phenomenol as the difference in the way her voice may sound with the song that she sings. Her technical ability is so unbelievable that she sounds completely different in some songs. Her ballads are so emotional, rich and warm.....smooth as silk, whereas some of her “Amy Winehouse” covers have a vocal fry techniques and different tone ......that really suit the songs. Then you get “A Song For A” which sounds like a theme from movie ...from the 30’s, 40’s... Her Jazz from the live version at a festival of “It’s a Man’s World” is similar to “I’m feeling Good” but moreso and then everything in between. Everything that you said was spot on and I assure you that this reaction will be one of countless reactions that will not only amaze you but will totally surprise you. I really love that you said that Angelina’s performance, while it had not fancy flashing lights...elaborate anything on stage presentation...just Angelina and her talent and that was all that was needed to captivate you. I’m also a big fan of her performance in Sweden at the Swedish heroes gala. She was not feeling well having performed recently for the Nobel peace concert out in the cold weather. But she puts on an emotional performance of I’ll be There (Jackson 5 cover) that never fails to bring me to tears. It is slower and more somber than the original and in a minor key a half step down to achieve that effect

This is definitely one of my favorite performances. As you pointed out. She is 10 here. I’m just so taken with her stage presence. The girl is in front of a live audience. She has a very excellent band with her. And she just commands the stage like you said. As a 40 year old veteran does.
I almost wish (emphasis on almost) Angelina could stay a child, so unbelievably awesome her performances have been in her early days of life. I've watched many of the kid talent show clips from a variety of countries, and I've been both surprised and very impressed . There is a wealth of kid talent out there, and as an old guy, I have to acknowledge nothing from my day could match the quality and depth of talented kid performers today. The amazing rapid development can actually be seen on her four performances on Norway’s Got Talent. Even if you don’t react to them you should watch the progression from “Gloomy”Sunday to “Summertime” she went from great to extraordinary within two months. Her progression from seven to thirteen can not be comprehended. The ornaments she uses within her song choices are mind bending Her writing ability will soon become apparent when you get to her originals. I am so glad you have chosen to take this journey.
Bill Weekley. I also noticesd the progression from”Gloomy Sunday” to “Summertime”. It confused my brain because I knew that it was a short time period yet her voice seemed different. There was no real answer so I just went on and put it aside. Of course, we know Angelina, “The Girl with 1000 Voices” and that helped put my question to rest..kind of..... Now hearing you say, that there WAS IN FACT, an actual “progression” gives me the solution to the question that I had about NGT. Actually her progression in general is phenomenol. Sometimes I listen to her at 10 and she sounds so much older than those years..same thing when she was 8 at times. Then you hear her sing “I put a Spell on You” and there still is a childish sound to her voice in different places. At about the same age she will deliver songs that you would guess a person that is at least in their 20’s or more is singing. Maybe it is Angelina just doing a lot of experimenting.... she is a wonder. I would just love to be in her head for a few days, it must be a magical place.

Effertless is a suitable expression, and commonly used. It's really astonishing how easy she adapts to different styles and songs. If you want to see how she has evolved, the obvious choice is where it 'started', Gloomy Sunday, from NGT, when she was 7. Even how impressive that was, she is much, much better now. There is also a lot of covers where she sings to backup music, but the best is where she sings with only a guitarist, casually sitting at home or other places. Thanks for a great reaction, again! Its length is a testament to the effect that discovering Angelina has had on me in the last six months. So first off, thank you for coming back to Angelina. Some reactors hear one song from her, think they understand what she sounds like and what she's all about, and because it wasn't a song or a performance they particularly liked, never come back to her again. By doing this they completely miss out on the incredible range and versatility Angelina possesses as a singer and an artist. Second, you are clearly a very perceptive reactor, and someone who pays close attention to the nuances in a performance and what original touches an artist brings to it. That goes perfectly with listening to Angelina because she has so much nuance and subtlety in her vocal artistry. Finally, I will leave you with my own (relatively short, believe it or not) list of recommendations that I have compiled in the last six months since first being introduced to her back in early January of this year. I have listened to her every day since, and I have yet to get the least bit tired of it. There's no other singer in my lifetime I can say that about. I think the two main reasons for that are (1) her incredible versatility as a singer and her sheer mastery of so many different genres and styles, and (2) most importantly, her tremendous emotional appeal as an artist, and indeed, as a person. Simply put, Angelina moves me more than any other singer I've ever heard in my lifetime, and it's not even close. So, here's my list of recommendations (in chronological, order). You can do with it what you like. You mentioned hearing perhaps one or two more performances before listening to Bohemian Rhapsody, so I will recommend What Is Life (an original composition from her), and/or Stay. I'm very much looking forward to your next reaction to Angelina, and if you decide to embark on this journey of discovery I can only say that untold riches lie before you! She does a cover like no one else on the planet. She re-writes and/or re-arranges every song she sings to give it that "Angelina Touch". She knows the exact formula of how much she needs to "Angelina-ize" her voice, tone, inflection, emotion, persona and volume with different proportions to perfectly fit every song she sings! She has mastered the art of making her version of a song unique, yet showing complete respect for the Original.

This rendition is absolutely stunning - let's not forget that it is a live performance. What is obvious to me now is that she is not only an exceptional singer and artist, it is clear she is also highly intelligent. If I would want to go on a talent show in the future, I would ask myself what I have to offer that she doesn't.....unless it is for fun only.
She DOES know her own abilities, which seem to be limitless and she makes all her songs fit into her interpretation of how she wants it to be. She has virtually unlimited ability and she adjusts her tone, style, and emotion to fit the song in the manner she feels it requires. Try When We Were Young. It's one of her newest covers, live at a festival and she displays the amount of emotion she is capable of infusing into a song. She expertly does everything from Willie Nelson, Whitney Houston, Sinatra, and Elvis, to Adele, Amy Winehouse, and John Legend. You want about as low as you have ever heard a woman sing, she can do it. You want range like Whitney, she has done it and done it well. If you find something she can't sing (well), let me know because I haven't seen it.
This is an outstanding performance by Angelina! And the question is what song doesn't suit her voice, because I found myself saying, one too many times, this song is perfect for her voice! Someone already suggested you to react to her cover of "Stay". That one is surely a good choice. Another one could be her cover of Lana del Rey's "Young and Beautiful", where she is also outstanding. As you said, like Aurora, Angelina's voice stand alone and need no bells and whistles, they trust in the quality of their voices and their amazing ability to convey feelings, and I do believe Angelina will follow Aurora and not play on sex at all to sell. This was an amazing performance. She has another live performance of this at an outdoor festival which is great but I like this one. She is like a chameleon..her voice can change effortlessly to fit the song. She has several covers of adele which are amazing. Adam, I have been enthralled by Angelina now for about six months. I have listened to most all things concerning her on CZcams. This is the song that I decided was when, in my eyes, she became the greatest female singer to ever live. At 10 no less. Everything after this is just proof. She has had plenty of life experiences since that influence her ability to transmit the true feeling of the music to us. She is a gift to us when we badly need something good and it is her! Enjoy learning and feeling more from her, and remember there are many of us that do believe she is the best ever.
I noticed, as I have a few times, her curtsy at the end... it's as if she is humbling saying, "thanks all of you for putting the effort to come so I can sing." "effortless" is so accurate. You really seem to "get" what Angelina is doing. She is not going to give you all the obvious belting notes, or the cliche arrangements of songs. She doesn't so much do "covers" as she does "interpretations". You have many, many more Angelina performances to hear. Angelina does her own arrangements, even when so young. Would recommend listening to “It’s a man’s world...” it’s incredible.

By this stage, at 10, Angelina's "child" singer days were over. She was fully professional with 100% adult voice. At 12 she got a great mic for her birthday, moved to LA with her "Shield" (Mom, Sister, Grandma & Uncle), met new people in the music industry & ran off a number of vocal masterpieces, many with acoustic guitarist Ivan Mendez. You should use Rusty's list of "Live Through the Years" playlist. Pick & choose songs you love or you can follow her development as the playlist is chronological. This may sound silly but she is "once-in-a-lifetime" & I'm just so glad I get to see the start of it.
Her Grandmother is a prodigy...and her grandmother's influence on this prodigy...has been incredible...Angelina has absorbed all the influences from the past...an era of seminal music.......that her grandmother obviously loved....and exposed Angelina. to..in her really formative years. The result: is a wonderful rebirthing of all these great songs to an audience that now covers the whole age spectrum. With this sort of background Angelina has a musical grounding that many of her age would not have....the result speaks for itself......

I understood your comments on your first reaction to I Put a Spell on You. You hadn’t see Angelina before, and you wandered into an intentionally stylized performance. You wanted to hear her sing, and today’s video was a good example. Above all, Angelina is a singer who is gifted with an exceptional natural voice, but she has worked hard to master the art of singing. You’ll see that as you move through the very diverse selection of songs ahead of you. I envy that you’re just starting out.
I am very impressed at how well you understood Angelina after this song. Yes, she’s completely calm during her performances. She is confident in her abilities, but visibly humble on stage. Her style is never to wow you with vocal fireworks. Instead, she draws you in with her novel arrangements, her timing, and the beauty of her voice. You don’t even want to applaud because you’ll miss something. You’ll see that she has the audience in the palm of her hand right from the start (cue Bohemian Rhapsody right here).
It’s so hard to suggest your next review because there are twenty songs that are easily in contention. But to see a side of Angelina you’ve not experienced yet, I’ll suggest “A Million Years Ago”, the Adele cover. You’ll see stripped down, acoustic Angelina with just a beautiful guitar backing her. And you’ll hear what many of us love most. That would be Angelina’s rich, resonant low register, her stunning voice “unplugged”, and her ability to interpret and deliver lyrics better than anyone I’ve ever heard.

It never gets old, I feel the same as the first time I felt after listening to this performance. In awe and speechless . Ever since I've discovered Angelina back in January, I've been listening 3 - 4 hours a day. Like stress releasing after a day of hard work. I think I've missed may be once or twice not more than two days when I was painting my sister's house. I thank God every time I'm listerning to Angelina Jordan for putting her on this earth.
Adam, just before she left Norway for USA, she had a final performance at a Norwegian TV program. She was 10 years old but the emotion she put into the song «Every time we say goodbye» was special and not easy for even an adult to produce. So I would be happy if you react to this song.

Thanks for doing this reaction to "Feeling Good". This is one of my favorites because she is just so relaxed and effortless in her delivery. To expand on some of your comments about her being artistic in the choices she makes with her performances: the thing about her that I respect the most is that she pays tribute and respect to every song she sings by giving great deference to the song itself and simply interpreting the intent and story of the piece. She uses her vocalization, tone, and technique, to enhance the meaning of the song instead of just showing off her skills. If the song needs a belted note or a sick run, she will use them. If it needs quiet, soulful tones, she uses them. Her focus is always on expressing the music, not herself. There are songs that I have listened to all my life and I couldn't recite the lyrics to. But then I hear Angelina perform the song and all of a sudden, I am hearing and appreciating the lyrics for the first time. It is really a mind blowing experience. Well, I think we can let you into the club of those who are addicted to Angelina Jordan! This young woman has legions of fans around the world, and all it takes is one or two songs for anyone to get completely hooked. You've got some really fantastic surprises in store for you. Like Rusty said, she doesn't just sing songs. She interprets every song she sings in her own completely unique fashion, and she has an amazing ability to convey the emotions of a song like no other artist. She has reduced most of us to tears more times than we can count. Not only does she do classic jazz standards, she covers more pop artists (she does Adele better than Adele!), and she's written several original pieces. Most of her videos are live recordings - one take, no edits, just perfect. My personal recommendation for your next Angelina video is her tribute to her friend Avicci, "Wake Me Up".

Yes, she does put her own interpretation on her covers, always and she always honors the originals. Her growth is as phenomenol as the difference in the way her voice may sound with the song that she sings. Her technical ability is so unbelievable that she sounds completely different in some songs. Her ballads are so emotional, rich and warm.....smooth as silk, whereas some of her “Amy Winehouse” covers have a vocal fry techniques and different tone ......that really suit the songs. Then you get “A Song For A” which sounds like a theme from movie ...from the 30’s, 40’s... Her Jazz from the live version at a festival of “It’s a Man’s World” is similar to “I’m feeling Good” but moreso and then everything in between.
Everything that you said was spot on and I assure you that this reaction will be one of countless reactions that will not only amaze you but will totally surprise you. I really love that you said that Angelina’s performance, while it had not fancy flashing lights...elaborate anything on stage presentation...just Angelina and her talent and that was all that was needed to captivate you. I’m also a big fan of her performance in Sweden at the Swedish heroes gala. She was not feeling well having performed recently for the Nobel peace concert out in the cold weather. But she puts on an emotional performance of I’ll be There (Jackson 5 cover) that never fails to bring me to tears. It is slower and more somber than the original and in a minor key a half step down to achieve that effect

This is definitely one of my favorite performances. As you pointed out. She is 10 here. I’m just so taken with her stage presence. The girl is in front of a live audience. She has a very excellent band with her. And she just commands the stage like you said. As a 40 year old veteran does.
I almost wish (emphasis on almost) Angelina could stay a child, so unbelievably awesome her performances have been in her early days of life. I've watched many of the kid talent show clips from a variety of countries, and I've been both surprised and very impressed . There is a wealth of kid talent out there, and as an old guy, I have to acknowledge nothing from my day could match the quality and depth of talented kid performers today. The amazing rapid development can actually be seen on her four performances on Norway’s Got Talent. Even if you don’t react to them you should watch the progression from “Gloomy”Sunday to “Summertime” she went from great to extraordinary within two months. Her progression from seven to thirteen can not be comprehended. The ornaments she uses within her song choices are mind bending Her writing ability will soon become apparent when you get to her originals. I am so glad you have chosen to take this journey.
Bill Weekley. I also noticesd the progression from”Gloomy Sunday” to “Summertime”. It confused my brain because I knew that it was a short time period yet her voice seemed different. There was no real answer so I just went on and put it aside. Of course, we know Angelina, “The Girl with 1000 Voices” and that helped put my question to rest..kind of..... Now hearing you say, that there WAS IN FACT, an actual “progression” gives me the solution to the question that I had about NGT.
Actually her progression in general is phenomenol. Sometimes I listen to her at 10 and she sounds so much older than those years..same thing when she was 8 at times. Then you hear her sing “I put a Spell on You” and there still is a childish sound to her voice in different places. At about the same age she will deliver songs that you would guess a person that is at least in their 20’s or more is singing. Maybe it is Angelina just doing a lot of experimenting.... she is a wonder. I would just love to be in her head for a few days, it must be a magical place.

Fantastic reaction to a stunning performance. Effertless is a suitable expression, and commonly used. It's really astonishing how easy she adapts to different styles and songs.
If you want to see how she has evolved, the obvious choice is where it 'started', Gloomy Sunday, from NGT, when she was 7. Even how impressive that was, she is much, much better now.
There is also a lot of covers where she sings to backup music, but the best is where she sings with only a guitarist, casually sitting at home or other places.

Its length is a testament to the effect that discovering Angelina has had on me in the last six months. So first off, thank you for coming back to Angelina. Some reactors hear one song from her, think they understand what she sounds like and what she's all about, and because it wasn't a song or a performance they particularly liked, never come back to her again. By doing this they completely miss out on the incredible range and versatility Angelina possesses as a singer and an artist. Second, you are clearly a very perceptive reactor, and someone who pays close attention to the nuances in a performance and what original touches an artist brings to it. That goes perfectly with listening to Angelina because she has so much nuance and subtlety in her vocal artistry. Finally, I will leave you with my own (relatively short, believe it or not) list of recommendations that I have compiled in the last six months since first being introduced to her back in early January of this year. I have listened to her every day since, and I have yet to get the least bit tired of it. There's no other singer in my lifetime I can say that about. I think the two main reasons for that are (1) her incredible versatility as a singer and her sheer mastery of so many different genres and styles, and (2) most importantly, her tremendous emotional appeal as an artist, and indeed, as a person. Simply put, Angelina moves me more than any other singer I've ever heard in my lifetime, and it's not even close. So, here's my list of recommendations (in chronological, order). You can do with it what you like. You mentioned hearing perhaps one or two more performances before listening to Bohemian Rhapsody, so I will recommend What Is Life (an original composition from her), and/or Stay. Adam, I don't usually suggest and artists, groups, or songs to reactors, as it is always good to be taking that particular journey with them. Having said that, I suppose all norms are eventually overshadowed.
Noticing your liking of the a capella genre, I was wondering if you have heard of the a capella group called 'Home Free.' They are a country-ish group of very talented singers which can cover just about any genre. If you have a specific reason for choosing not reacting to them, I will understand fully. If, on the other hand, you could indulge this old donkey, please do give them a listen. They have a vast number of CZcams videos, as they have been producing their own music and many covers over 20+ years. They make music fun and isn't that one of the major goals of music?

Effortless, indeed! I think what you’ll find is that with Angelina Jordan, it is always about what the song needs to make you feel its emotional core as she interprets it, never about what she can do as a vocalist. Which is kind of her, as it keeps our heads from exploding.

Fearless. She just doesn't get nervous, singing is her mission. The stage had one of those cameras-on-a-crane circling her, and she just gave it a little smile as it went by.
Nice reaction! You will nice that her voice adapts to the music. Listen to her Adele covers and she does Adele in her own way. Listen to her Whitney Houston cover, and you can hear Whitney in it. Just as you can hear Screaming Jay Hawkins in her 'I put a spell on you'. Still, she does it her way with her own arrangements.

If you like, there is another recording of this song, in the same year, but it's outdoors during the show "Singing on the Border" which is held every year on the border between Norway and Sweden in the Fredriksten Fortress, during the summer and with the audience with sheets, with texts to encourage them to sing together. She does a cover like no one else on the planet. She re-writes and/or re-arranges every song she sings to give it that "Angelina Touch". She knows the exact formula of how much she needs to "Angelina-ize" her voice, tone, inflection, emotion, persona and volume with different proportions to perfectly fit every song she sings! She has mastered the art of making her version of a song unique, yet showing complete respect for the Original.

This rendition is absolutely stunning - let's not forget that it is a live performance. What is obvious to me now is that she is not only an exceptional singer and artist, it is clear she is also highly intelligent. If I would want to go on a talent show in the future, I would ask myself what I have to offer that she doesn't.....unless it is for fun only.

She DOES know her own abilities, which seem to be limitless and she makes all her songs fit into her interpretation of how she wants it to be. She has virtually unlimited ability and she adjusts her tone, style, and emotion to fit the song in the manner she feels it requires. Try When We Were Young. It's one of her newest covers, live at a festival and she displays the amount of emotion she is capable of infusing into a song. She expertly does everything from Willie Nelson, Whitney Houston, Sinatra, and Elvis, to Adele, Amy Winehouse, and John Legend. You want about as low as you have ever heard a woman sing, she can do it. You want range like Whitney, she has done it and done it well. If you find something she can't sing (well), let me know because I haven't seen it.
This is an outstanding performance by Angelina! And the question is what song doesn't suit her voice, because I found myself saying, one too many times, this song is perfect for her voice! Someone already suggested you to react to her cover of "Stay". That one is surely a good choice. Another one could be her cover of Lana del Rey's "Young and Beautiful", where she is also outstanding.

As you said, like Aurora, Angelina's voice stand alone and need no bells and whistles, they trust in the quality of their voices and their amazing ability to convey feelings, and I do believe Angelina will follow Aurora and not play on sex at all to sell.

This was an amazing performance. She has another live performance of this at an outdoor festival which is great but I like this one. She is like a chameleon..her voice can change effortlessly to fit the song. She has several covers of adele which are amazing. She also did a cover of the show must go on by queen ... that is so worth watching..ty for reviewing her
Adam, I have been enthralled by Angelina now for about six months. I have listened to most all things concerning her on CZcams. This is the song that I decided was when, in my eyes, she became the greatest female singer to ever live. At 10 no less. Everything after this is just proof. She has had plenty of life experiences since that influence her ability to transmit the true feeling of the music to us. She is a gift to us when we badly need something good and it is her! Enjoy learning and feeling more from her, and remember there are many of us that do believe she is the best ever.
I noticed, as I have a few times, her curtsy at the end... it's as if she is humbling saying, "thanks all of you for putting the effort to come so I can sing." Instead the audiance is overwhelmed with awe and admiration experiencing this awesome entertainer....I appreciate and enjoy your thoughtfull comments....
