Her voice adds a 3rd dimension with its rich texture. That is how I think of her voice , she takes a flat, 2d song and with her interpretation it takes on a 3rd dimension you can see and feel, and the her tone sweeps you up and carries you on a journey, like bobbing in the waves 🌊 She is so unique, she uses her voice like an instrument and I think music is her 3rd language, besides Norwegian and English.
What I really like is the minimal instruments and music other than her voice just captivates you. She doesn't need all the studio things that they do to cover up the voice but her voice just shines
I’ve heard many reactors say that they like Angelina’s covers better than the original, no surprise there. It amazes me how she performs so effortlessly with anything she does. She is unbelievable without even accounting for her age. One of the best I have ever listened to and I’m 71 years old.

You’re new to Angelina, and I understand your surprise at her prodigious talent, but we long-term fans know that people only need to hear her once or twice before they’re hooked. I have listened to a lot of music all my life starting back in the 1950’s. With no hesitation-there has never been a singer that has captivated me like Angelina does. Clearly, it’s impossible to say that someone is the best singer in the world because there are too many types of music and too many personal preferences. But I can say that there is no one I would rather listen to than Angelina. And, I listen to her everyday. And I listen to her sing many types of music, most of which is not even professionally recorded. And even though I’ve heard her songs so many times, I want to hear them again because her voice is so soothing, sincere, and beautiful. She is the best interpreter of lyrics I’ve ever heard. For a side of Angelina you’ve never heard, try “I’m Still Holding out for You”. This was done in a recording studio when she was 10 years old. It’s not just the quality of soulful voice that stuns you, but her delivery of the mature, melancholic lyrics seems impossible for anyone that age.
Exactly!! There are so many from the 40's on up that I could listen to or go on about forever. But I listen to Angie every day because she has a healing personal relationship that she conveys from the composer to the listener. Her voice is music!
I could not agree more. I too have a listening history going back to the 50's and Angelina has replaced every single vocalist throughout that time frame as my favorite. "I'm still holding out for you" was an unauthorized release of a studio recording that once learning the lyrics were the subject of suicide, Angelina and her family vowed to not release and to never perform again. Mike McDevitt you’re right, she knows how good she is. What makes her stand out is that she uses that knowledge for development - as you point out. Whereas so typically many singers who become self aware self destruct in their vanity.
She’s known that she has a special gift that allows her to shine for a long time. The God given gift was there, but Angie has worked very hard, certainly harder than I did when I was in my prime, and let’s face it, she has earned the praise she receives.
Every cover she does is better than the original to my ears. I remember hearing this the first time and I was convinced it was fake, the voice is so sublime and you can't see her mouth behind the microphone😊
i call it magic because by every cover she does she takes away from you/us the possibility to think about the original right away,,,,,,,,,after 30 sec you only know that she is singing and its her song which maybe someone else sang too,,,, but soon you forget even this,,,,,,she hypnotize you/us for as long as she needs and for a while you leave this reality to be where ever she is,,,,,,,,, i love those experiences and love to share it with others like yourself,,,,,thanx

Your reaction and comments were spot on! I've been following Angelina for about a year and I agree that she is very gifted and knows how to use that gift. She works hard to improve and to try different genres of music. I don't know her personally but from what I've seen, she seems to be very humble and compassionate. Her parents put an emphasis on her education and having some time being a kid. I don't see her as a big star yet. In my opinion, she is a rising star who has not yet reached her full potential. She has a long way to go, but the good news is that she is building a powerful and broad base that will make a foundation that will support her wide range of abilities. She is not ever going to be a one pony show that will have to rely on one or two hits to survive. She will become a big star that can hold her own in a cut-throat industry and rise above the best in the business. She'll become a superstar when she isn't covering others, but instead has young singers falling all over each other trying to cover her. I heard her in AGT at 7 and had told my friend an older man who is Billie Holliday blues jazz fan. He almost found my suggestion as an insult. Thanks Adam for the thoughtful comments and reaction. Effortless is one of the most frequent characterizations of Angelina's singing. The amazing thing is that you will see this same effortlessness even when she sings high and up tempo. She belts incredibly high on her cover of Whitney Houston's"I have nothing" and James Brown's "This is a man's World" and you would think she was singing Happy birthday. Even when it is not her own song, she tells the story of the song better than anyone else I know, which is why her covers sound different, and in many times better than the original. Keep going with Angelina and watch your world of music appreciation expand.

It seems it has always been “another day at the office” for Angelina, even from the very start. The beginning to her singing Gloomy Sunday on the Norway talent program at age 7 was the first indicator of this. She stuck her tiny little arm straight out to indicate to the band she was ready to start, as if to say “I got this - let’s roll”, and then proceeded to blow the audience away. Since then, Angelina has continued to exhibit a quiet, understated, and humble confidence, and for good reason. She is one of the most accomplished and talented singers on the planet and at the age of 14. I didn’t want to go down the rabbit hole by saying “best”, but……Adam, excellent observations (as expected).

I know I am late to the show, but here it is. Adam, you probably know you are one of my absolute favorite reactors (from your Aurora reactions). Even being a singer myself, I am completely shocked by how good Angelina is. Your reaction is one of the best I have seen too. It might in fact have been the best. And I have seen most of the 4000 reactions of Angelina. That said, I will challenge you to listen to, or react to a song I bet nobody else suggest for you. It is her only song in an almost lost genre nowadays. It is spectacular! The song is "I will survive", and then you know it is a Gloria Gaynor disco song. Yes, indeed, she nailed that one too. Disco! She sang it like she hasnt done anything else the last decades. And she was only 10 or 11 years old. How about that.. It was just something she did after school one day.. I've been listening to Angelina for going on 7 months now (I've listened to her every day since I first heard her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody on January 6th of this year), and I dare say that I've actually learned a lot about music just from listening to her. You also said that you think you prefer this to the original. If you have any doubt about that I invite you to listen to both of them a few more times, and I suspect that you will eventually come to the same conclusion as me, which is that it is clearly superior to the original, not the least of which is in its pure enjoyment value. With many of Angelina's performances my impression of them has evolved over time, such that the more I listen to them the more I realize how incredibly gifted she is. Interesting note on how hard it is to soldier through this song keeping up the momentum. I guess some factor is her breath control. I think yearning for an oppertunity to add some high notes or other gimmicks is not an issue for her though. She is not that "look I'm here" personality that constantly hungers for confimation. Does she know how good she is? I think she knows exactly what she can do. She acts like a very humble person though. I can't imagine her thinking about herself beeing brilliant or something. In her AGT interview she was asked what it would mean for her to win the show. Her answer: I wan't to stay humble and continue doing a lot of hard work and sing more and more. It's a wise move to check out the original directly before to get more perspective. The first few times I heard this video I didn't bother to do that. A mistake. She's doing it so smooth, it's really deceptive and lulled me in. At that time I though it sounds very nice but very similar to the original. LOL. I couldn't have been more wrong ;-)
She has the ability to reach your heart and soul with whatever she sings and while I think she's chosen the pieces not just because the compliment her understanding of herself, her voice, her ability, but because they highlight her personality and they strecth her range. Not that they are really a challenge, but her own proving ground for her working on her growth. Sort of I love this story and I think its time to see how I'm doing and the music speaks to me. One of Angelina's most requested and finest covers of her amazing career. Her deep and mellow voice here makes this a magnificent rendition. This is the cover that a fan described Angelina's voice as, "dark chocolate, deep and aromatic with rich cherry's and swirling velvet smokiness." There's just so many accolades one can place on Angelina before you just flat run out, and repeat yourself over and over, and I think you are finding that out. She just stunning! I agree that Song for A is a masterpiece. It melds a classical orchestral piece, the lyrics from a 18th century poem, visuals that are incredibly beautiful, and of corse the flawless and wonderful vocals of our barefoot angel. I listen to it over and over again. It is the complete package brought to perfection.
Your reaction was very similar to another reactor I also respect a lot. He's been reacting a long time, and has done many, many artists. And he tends to like big high note belting performances. His jaw dropped just like yours. When it was over, he declared, "this is my favorite of all the performances I have reacted to". That's pretty high praise. This is a very difficult song to sing, and she makes it look so easy, but we know it isn't. Try listening to other singers who have attempted to cover this song. If you want suggestions, try SHIELD. That's one she wrote herself. Try her Adele WHEN WE WERE YOUNG cover. You are right, AJ knows her voice and what she is capable of and she knows how to use it to it's fullest. What is truly amazing to me is the sheer amount of talent that she has. I can't think of a singer that is as vocally versatile as she is and I'm just glad she loves to sing. It's a real treat for us all when she does.

Her voice is beauty and music - her body moves with beauty and music - her hands do not move, they also sing with elegance - her gaze is beautiful, pure, innocent and music - her whole being is beauty and music - her soul is immaculate and music. Singing in low keys for extended periods challenges the control of breathe which is never a problem for this young diva. Oh by the way she does sing ‘we can get high together’. Did I detect a tear of emotion Adam?
She also wrote Oslo and What is Life, All three are great. On any given day any one of them can assume the mantle as my favourite, Shield is the most commercially “polished”, What Is Life is the souliest and Oslo is perhaps the story tellingest.
As l said before the Lana del Rey covers reveal textures in her voice. Save Young and Beautiful for later in your journey. Please note that this is a new microphone for her at this point. I recommend Back to Black which she applies the same principles you mentioned here. Backed by an orchestra.

Hello Adam, my name is Peter, I come from Germany and I am 71 years old. I like the way you express your reactions. Mainly I got to know you through the good Angelina Jordan. I think your comments are appropriate, but you can see the fascination this girl causes. Her voice is not that of a child, but that of a young, sometimes middle-aged woman. (Old women don't give it :)). The entire repertoire that Angelina brings to the table is also amazing. By the way, you can see the whole Angelina family in the video "Bohemian Rapsodie". At the end, when the applause starts, you see an older lady in the foreground (Angelina's grandmother) followed by a blonde woman with a child (girl, that's Angelina's mother and sister), followed by Angelina's father. We could include here "I'm still holding out for you" because hers was probably the first version of that song, or, at least, it's not a cover, it's a demo she made when she was proposed to sing it be the author. It never went ahead because, from what I heard, her mother wasn't happy with part of the lyrics she didn't think were appropriate to be sung by such a young girl and the song ended up being released with the vocals of the actual author (which I'm pretty sure took some hints from Angelina's interpretation 😉)

Another fantastic reaction to this performance. I love to watch the facial reactions of various reactors to see if it is just me, or people with more vocal expertise than I coveting every bit of gold this young girl can produce. You are not the first reactor to say this is better than the original, even though it appears to use the original backing track. Excellent analysis, Adam! This is a very difficult song because as you put it, it doesn’t really go anywhere. The original relies heavily on the storytelling of a video that appears to have Hollywood production value. Angelina Jordan just needs to close her eyes, move those hands and let her voice do the telling. In this song, it comes to us like gentle waves to a beach. Angelina Jordan has two ways of improving on the originals. One is by rearranging them, which often means stripping them down to the emotional core and giving her own interpretation. You saw this with «Stay», and there are numerous others. These are often the ones I like the very best. But then there is also the other way, when she is using «canned music» (often the original backing tracks): Simply outsinging the original artist, as she does here. I do like Lana del Rey, but as a vocalist, she doesn’t come close to Angelina (at 12 here, I believe). That «liquid gold» voice quality is unique in itself, but then there is also her craft in using it...

That is how I think of her voice , she takes a flat, 2d song and with her interpretation it takes on a 3rd dimension you can see and feel, and the her tone sweeps you up and carries you on a journey, like bobbing in the waves 🌊 She is so unique, she uses her voice like an instrument and I think music is her 3rd language, besides Norwegian and English.
What I really like is the minimal instruments and music other than her voice just captivates you. She doesn't need all the studio things that they do to cover up the voice but her voice just shines
I’ve heard many reactors say that they like Angelina’s covers better than the original, no surprise there. It amazes me how she performs so effortlessly with anything she does. She is unbelievable without even accounting for her age. One of the best I have ever listened to and I’m 71 years old.

You’re new to Angelina, and I understand your surprise at her prodigious talent, but we long-term fans know that people only need to hear her once or twice before they’re hooked. I have listened to a lot of music all my life starting back in the 1950’s. With no hesitation-there has never been a singer that has captivated me like Angelina does. Clearly, it’s impossible to say that someone is the best singer in the world because there are too many types of music and too many personal preferences. But I can say that there is no one I would rather listen to than Angelina.
And, I listen to her everyday. And I listen to her sing many types of music, most of which is not even professionally recorded. And even though I’ve heard her songs so many times, I want to hear them again because her voice is so soothing, sincere, and beautiful. She is the best interpreter of lyrics I’ve ever heard.
For a side of Angelina you’ve never heard, try “I’m Still Holding out for You”. This was done in a recording studio when she was 10 years old. It’s not just the quality of soulful voice that stuns you, but her delivery of the mature, melancholic lyrics seems impossible for anyone that age.
Exactly!! There are so many from the 40's on up that I could listen to or go on about forever. But I listen to Angie every day because she has a healing personal relationship that she conveys from the composer to the listener. Her voice is music!

I could not agree more. I too have a listening history going back to the 50's and Angelina has replaced every single vocalist throughout that time frame as my favorite. "I'm still holding out for you" was an unauthorized release of a studio recording that once learning the lyrics were the subject of suicide, Angelina and her family vowed to not release and to never perform again. She works hard to improve and to try different genres of music. I don't know her personally but from what I've seen, she seems to be very humble and compassionate. Her parents put an emphasis on her education and having some time being a kid. I don't see her as a big star yet. In my opinion, she is a rising star who has not yet reached her full potential. She has a long way to go, but the good news is that she is building a powerful and broad base that will make a foundation that will support her wide range of abilities. She is not ever going to be a one pony show that will have to rely on one or two hits to survive. She will become a big star that can hold her own in a cut-throat industry and rise above the best in the business. The amazing thing is that you will see this same effortlessness even when she sings high and up tempo. She belts incredibly high on her cover of Whitney Houston's"I have nothing" and James Brown's "This is a man's World" and you would think she was singing Happy birthday. Even when it is not her own song, she tells the story of the song better than anyone else I know, which is why her covers sound different, and in many times better than the original. Keep going with Angelina and watch your world of music appreciation expand.

It seems it has always been “another day at the office” for Angelina, even from the very start. The beginning to her singing Gloomy Sunday on the Norway talent program at age 7 was the first indicator of this. She stuck her tiny little arm straight out to indicate to the band she was ready to start, as if to say “I got this - let’s roll”, and then proceeded to blow the audience away. Since then, Angelina has continued to exhibit a quiet, understated, and humble confidence, and for good reason. She is one of the most accomplished and talented singers on the planet and at the age of 14. I didn’t want to go down the rabbit hole by saying “best”, but……Adam, excellent observations (as expected).
Her mother did a video of the morning where she prepares for the audition day. One of our norwegian fellows was so nice to translate it for us. Are you excited? Yes. Nervous? Nah. Typical Angelina.

I know I am late to the show, but here it is. Adam, you probably know you are one of my absolute favorite reactors (from your Aurora reactions). Even being a singer myself, I am completely shocked by how good Angelina is. Your reaction is one of the best I have seen too. It might in fact have been the best. And I have seen most of the 4000 reactions of Angelina. That said, I will challenge you to listen to, or react to a song I bet nobody else suggest for you. It is her only song in an almost lost genre nowadays. It is spectacular! The song is "I will survive", and then you know it is a Gloria Gaynor disco song. Yes, indeed, she nailed that one too. Disco! She sang it like she hasnt done anything else the last decades. And she was only 10 or 11 years old. How about that.. It was just something she did after school one day..

I've been listening to Angelina for going on 7 months now (I've listened to her every day since I first heard her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody on January 6th of this year), and I dare say that I've actually learned a lot about music just from listening to her. You also said that you think you prefer this to the original. If you have any doubt about that I invite you to listen to both of them a few more times, and I suspect that you will eventually come to the same conclusion as me, which is that it is clearly superior to the original, not the least of which is in its pure enjoyment value. With many of Angelina's performances my impression of them has evolved over time, such that the more I listen to them the more I realize how incredibly gifted she is. I look forward to your next Angelina reaction!
Interesting note on how hard it is to soldier through this song keeping up the momentum. I guess some factor is her breath control. I think yearning for an oppertunity to add some high notes or other gimmicks is not an issue for her though. She is not that "look I'm here" personality that constantly hungers for confimation.
Does she know how good she is? I think she knows exactly what she can do. She acts like a very humble person though. I can't imagine her thinking about herself beeing brilliant or something. In her AGT interview she was asked what it would mean for her to win the show. Her answer: I wan't to stay humble and continue doing a lot of hard work and sing more and more.
It's a wise move to check out the original directly before to get more perspective. The first few times I heard this video I didn't bother to do that. A mistake. She's doing it so smooth, it's really deceptive and lulled me in. At that time I though it sounds very nice but very similar to the original. LOL. I couldn't have been more wrong ;-)
She has the ability to reach your heart and soul with whatever she sings and while I think she's chosen the pieces not just because the compliment her understanding of herself, her voice, her ability, but because they highlight her personality and they strecth her range. One of Angelina's most requested and finest covers of her amazing career. Her deep and mellow voice here makes this a magnificent rendition. This is the cover that a fan described Angelina's voice as, "dark chocolate, deep and aromatic with rich cherry's and swirling velvet smokiness." There's just so many accolades one can place on Angelina before you just flat run out, and repeat yourself over and over, and I think you are finding that out. She just stunning! I agree that Song for A is a masterpiece. It melds a classical orchestral piece, the lyrics from a 18th century poem, visuals that are incredibly beautiful, and of corse the flawless and wonderful vocals of our barefoot angel. I listen to it over and over again. It is the complete package brought to perfection.
Your reaction was very similar to another reactor I also respect a lot. He's been reacting a long time, and has done many, many artists. And he tends to like big high note belting performances. His jaw dropped just like yours. When it was over, he declared, "this is my favorite of all the performances I have reacted to". That's pretty high praise. This is a very difficult song to sing, and she makes it look so easy, but we know it isn't. Try listening to other singers who have attempted to cover this song. If you want suggestions, try SHIELD. That's one she wrote herself. Try her Adele WHEN WE WERE YOUNG cover. You are right, AJ knows her voice and what she is capable of and she knows how to use it to it's fullest. What is truly amazing to me is the sheer amount of talent that she has. I can't think of a singer that is as vocally versatile as she is and I'm just glad she loves to sing. It's a real treat for us all when she does.
This young woman is beauty and music. Her voice is beauty and music - her body moves with beauty and music - her hands do not move, they also sing with elegance - her gaze is beautiful, pure, innocent and music - her whole being is beauty and music - her soul is immaculate and music. It is all unique, perfect, almost incredible and so overwhelming, extraordinary.
But most impossible of all, when you look at her and listen to her with sensitivity, then you see and feel that she has an absolute, whole and so humble personality, such a great humanity emerges from her, and all that with so much simplicity.

steve "getting high" was not the offensive line. In concert, Lana often sings "fuck you hard in the pourin' rain". Angelina changed it to "hug you hard..."

Mainly I got to know you through the good Angelina Jordan. I think your comments are appropriate, but you can see the fascination this girl causes. Her voice is not that of a child, but that of a young, sometimes middle-aged woman. (Old women don't give it :)). The entire repertoire that Angelina brings to the table is also amazing.
By the way, you can see the whole Angelina family in the video "Bohemian Rapsodie". At the end, when the applause starts, you see an older lady in the foreground (Angelina's grandmother) followed by a blonde woman with a child (girl, that's Angelina's mother and sister), followed by Angelina's father.
So, enough talked about. I wish you many more good reactions, most of which I will watch.

We could include here "I'm still holding out for you" because hers was probably the first version of that song, or, at least, it's not a cover, it's a demo she made when she was proposed to sing it be the author. It never went ahead because, from what I heard, her mother wasn't happy with part of the lyrics she didn't think were appropriate to be sung by such a young girl and the song ended up being released with the vocals of the actual author (which I'm pretty sure took some hints from Angelina's interpretation 😉)

Another fantastic reaction to this performance. I love to watch the facial reactions of various reactors to see if it is just me, or people with more vocal expertise than I coveting every bit of gold this young girl can produce. You are not the first reactor to say this is better than the original, even though it appears to use the original backing track. I’d love to hear her do this with a band, so she could Angelicise it even more.
Excellent analysis, Adam! This is a very difficult song because as you put it, it doesn’t really go anywhere. The original relies heavily on the storytelling of a video that appears to have Hollywood production value. Angelina Jordan just needs to close her eyes, move those hands and let her voice do the telling. In this song, it comes to us like gentle waves to a beach.
Angelina Jordan has two ways of improving on the originals. One is by rearranging them, which often means stripping them down to the emotional core and giving her own interpretation. You saw this with «Stay», and there are numerous others. These are often the ones I like the very best. But then there is also the other way, when she is using «canned music» (often the original backing tracks): Simply outsinging the original artist, as she does here. I do like Lana del Rey, but as a vocalist, she doesn’t come close to Angelina (at 12 here, I believe). That «liquid gold» voice quality is unique in itself, but then there is also her craft in using it...
She wrote a song called 'Sheild' and a video. It's beautiful. A 'must' hear.
Also she wrote another song called 'Life'. I love it, too as well as ALL her songs, from age 1 1/2 to 14. Angelina is my favorite artist that I listen to Everyday! 🎶♥️🎶⚜
She arranges all the songs she sings since age 6 . she is amazing. I agree. No 2 songs sound alike on how she performs them. Her spin and vocal ability is one of a kind. Can't wait until she rec@hes her 20s. She just signed her first recording contract.
