The reason Angelina is barefoot is that when she was six years old she gave her shoes to a homeless girl in Iran and ever since then she has vowed never to wear shoes when she performs until all the children of the world have shoes. You absolutely need to hear her versions of "bohemian rhapsody" on America's got talent and her version of "I put a spell on you". I promise it is well worth it!

In a interview, Angelina explains in her own words: As fans have come to know, Jordan likes to perform barefoot, in honor of a young girl she met when was 6 who didn’t have any shoes. Ever since the young singer gave that girl her shoes, she’s performed without wearing her own......“I want to remind myself that there are less fortunate people around the world who need help,” she says. “It is a great reminder for me.”

She’s really come into her own. She’s sixteen now, I think, and recently signed her first record deal. Her mom wanted her to wait so she could enjoy her childhood a little bit, and didn’t want her forced into that world too young. She’s incredibly versatile. Does a lot of great covers and some pretty great originals, too. She has a sweet personality, is very humble, yet determined. She’s also an author. Always goes barefoot because of a young homeless girl she met when she was a child. They shared their dreams together, and Angelina gave her her shoes. Beautiful person. Beautiful voice.

Here is why Angelina always performs barefoot.
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East.

Yo Buddy! First time seeing your channel and I have subscribed. Let me just tell you - You have absolutely no idea whatsoever what you've just discovered. Angelina is the greatest vocalist alive today. Angelina is Norwegian. She turned 16 on January 10th and currently stands 6'1 (1 m 85 cm) tall. No small kid anymore, that's for sure. What what's even bigger is her voice. Angelina was signed by Republic Records at the age of 14, and is their highest priority new artist. Angelina and her family decided to go for RR because they allowed Angelina full artistic freedom and they agreed not to promote her until she has finished school. (Only a few months more to go). Her familiy, which is also her management, has always been very protective of her, focusing on that she should be allowed to have an as normal childhood as possible. They have turned down numerous offers from GREAT studios (or at least BIG studios) like Disney for example. With RR, Angelina has some of the greatest musicians in the world around her, and RR's artistic director, Rob Christie himself, has taken the role as some kind of mentor to her. He can be seen playing the piano in her covers of "Easy On Me" and "All I Ask" by Adele, and also in her original "Milion Miles", which she wrote for her grandfather that had recently passed away.

Angelina has covered more than 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres. She has 160+ covers out and she even has 5 originals. In addition, there are two songs that were specifically written for her. And the craziest part ? It ALL sounds amazingly beautiful. A common view among her fans is that she takes a song and makes it better. She always gives her own touch on everything she does, effectively making them her own. She hasn't touched heavy metal or opera yet, but I wouldn't be all that surprised if she'd have a go at it. She'd probably kill it, truth be told. LOL
I haven't read the other comments in here, but I guess they are all saying more or less the same. As for which performance you should do next, there are SO many possibilities. But I can assure you - you can't go wrong with anything from her. You may not believe me, but it's true. So basically, it doesn't really matter. Personally, I think you would appreciate hearing and seeing what she sounds/looks like as of right now, before going back to her very roots to better understand where it all began (studio recording from when she was 6 for instance).
So here's what I suggest. -1 month ago, (at age VERY young 16), on Valentine's Day, she released her rendition of the 1937 jazz standard "My Funny Valentine". "My Funny Valentine" has been performed by hundreds of artists, and included in 1300+ albums through the years. Check that performance out, and understand where my statement comes from. Usually I say that she is the future G.O.A.T. of the music industry. Just one more thing. She also released a rendition of the song on Valentine's Day exactly 6 years earlier, at age 10, and I will give you the link for both :

I just love watching people reacting to AJ for the first time. Now you want to see her in beast mode singing "I put a spell on you" a 1956 classic from Screaming Jay Hawkins (the guy on the candle). Better brace yourself! You will be totally blown away. She has over 150 video on YT, of that maybe 5 or 6 originals the rest are covers. Read about her you will be even more impress by her. Like learning the story of why she is performing barefoot. The great jazzman and (Michael Jackson producer) Quincy Jones said about her that she is the greatest musical talent since Michael Jackson.

@@nfpnone8248 Just been and done that - first time ever listening to Nina Simone, I did enjoy Nina's version, except for the end. I loved her phrasing of the song and her enunciation was beautiful. Angelina's version in both tempo and phrasing was totally different, and I liked the two very low notes she used when singing the word "good" at the beginning and end, and the amazing crescendo was to die for. It is pointless comparing the two performances because, as I have commented, they were so different. The only thing one can say with some assurance is that one performance was that of a 32-year-old woman and the other by a 10-year-old child.
I cannot take it away from Nina Simone that hers is the best recording of this wonderful song. Angelina's interpretation however is brilliant, and would rate as the best stage performance I have ever seen or heard, whether she was 10, 30 or 50. As we all know, incredibly, she was ten!!!!

Do you think it can be possible for any other Artist, to Learn from the Greats & Legends in the music history, to be as Great? As I personally continue to view this Outstanding Artistry of a youth who is musically sensitive, who has covered many genres learnt from past Musicians. For myself I don't think it's fair to compare Angelina Jordan to these Greats. The reason being, is she on par an equal & simply on the same playing field as Many of the Greats. We're in the same boat... I just heard of this amazing artist a few days ago. I was listening to Queen covers, and I stumbled upon this. Since Tuesday, I have listened to around 10 of her different numbers. So far, the most striking is her performance on AGT when she was 13. Between the amazing voice and the absolutely MASTERFUL arrangement, she did what was (in my opinion) the most unique, 'make this my own' version of Bohemian Rhapsody that I've ever heard. If you don't want to react, at LEAST check it out. Your jaw will be on the floor. My journey following this young talent has a LONG road ahead! (Edited to add) If you didn't already know, she apparently does her OWN arrangements for all of her covers. That's why the Queen piece really floored me.
Scott, yes, you are correct. Angelina has been doing her own arrangements since age 8! If you haven't seen her "black & white" vintage-looking video where she is singing Screamin' Jay Hawkins' 1956 song "I Put a Spell on You" when she was 9 years & 2 months old, you should watch it ..... but prepare to be traumatized! She goes into full beast mode in that one, and it's an incredible sight and sound to witness! Lol! The band members in that video (who also do an amazing jazz job) affectionately referred to her as "The Boss," because she did her own arrangement and conferred with the conductor on what she humbly called her "wishes." You can see her making last minute changes on paper at the beginning of the video and the conductor smiling with acceptance as he reads them. It is mind-blowing and always fun to watch first-time reactors as their jaws hit the floor! Blessings on you & yours!

At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. She is famous for her hard work. (160 amazing videos on youtube and then there are instagram and tiktok). She is famous for never being nervous on stage (even at 7 years old). She is famous for her musical understanding and so on and so on. And despite all this, she is a humble sweet girl who want to share her love for music with the rest of the world. At 16 she's already a legend in many fans eyes.

Our Barefoot Princess of Jazz! Of course she can sing in any other style she so chooses. Angelina has been singing barefoot during performances since she was 6. She met a young girl around her own age while walking with her family in the Middle East. The young girl was weighing people on a scale to make money. The girl had no shoes on and Angelina could see the girl had scars on her feet. They struck up a conversation and the girl mentioned that she liked Angelina's shoes and Angelina took them off and gave them to the girl. She told Angelina she would pray for her. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor but she could not because she had siblings. Angelina said she wanted to sing for the world. To this day Angelina sings barefoot until all the world's children has shoes, to remind herself of the girl and to remember the less fortunate in society.
