And having words like "beautiful" and "cute" aren't necessarily telling them that they HAVE to care about their looks, it can mean that they ARE beautiful and cute, because every female is. I think it's a sweet message that will make young girls feel confident.

If u want ur son to wear all colors but him whatever I want. I get she most likely wldnt want to get stuff that said like "girls rule" or "daddy's princess" but there are tons of plain oneies she did buy. No one is forcing her to buy clothes solely from the "boys" section no one will arrest her for buying her son a plain purple shirt so just do it. There is no rule that you have to buy clothes based on the gender of your child. If you see something bright and colourful, Buy it! The only difference in any of the clothing is what section of the store you get it from (Girl/Boy) I feel like that should be the point of your argument, Otherwise, Buying clothing because they don’t make the cute stuff you want like the frilly onesies because it’s not for boys, Is doing what you’re saying you wish would change. Be an example of that change and buy the things you want! There’s not much room to rant if you don’t.

      Like I get what you’re saying and stuff and you can totally do that,, Ik people do it,, but what Colleen is saying is she wishes that there was just no difference in the sections kind of,, like she wishes that all genders were treated the same like if you say a girl walking down the street in a sparkly pink shirt most people wouldn’t care but if it was a guy wearing a shirt like that then he’d probably get some weird looks and I’m not saying you would be someone looking at him weirdly but I’m just trying to say that if you are going to the ‘girl’ section it’s not really making as much as a difference as trying to help make it less spilt into genders 🤷🏻‍♀️

      Danielle Calder my main problem is she pretty much lied. Yes, their clothes includes those sayings and even those colors, but they also include all the things she claims they don’t. They have clothes with statements praising intelligence and even shirts in support of LGBT. They have pastels and pinks and purples for boys in both shorts and shirts. Either the store she went to was very small and select or her own bias kept her from really looking and seeing. She’s too concerned with making a blanket statement against clothing “norms” to see that she wasn’t even hitting the mark. And as you stated she could have easily bought any of those outfits or clothing items that were plain, but she chose not to.

    I think you're over thinking the clothes. Messages, colors, or glitter/sequence on clothes don't create the child...parenting does. And it doesn't mean your a bad parent if your son wears a sarcastic shirt where he's labeled a 'trouble maker'...and it doesn't make you a good parent if your daughter is wearing a shirt that says 'future president of the united states.' None of that matters to kids or to parents, except those that focus way to much on things. Calling out the store, means calling out the millions of parents that bought their child one of those shirts, and shamed them for it. It's okay that your opinion is strong, and that you are passionate about it and shared it with us...just don't put down others with your opinion. I don't care if girls wear pink, blue, or if everyone wears all grey in their life. We teach our kids confidence in themselves, and respect for others with a different opinion/value/faith/belief system than our own. So if parents want to buy their daughters shirts that say princess, beautiful, unicorn poop...than so be it. Or encouraging messages, that's awesome too! But we don't teach our kids to judge others based on what they are wearing, but on who they are.

Everyone has a right to their opinion, but to claim that there’s something wrong with the typical clothing they sell at stores for babies is so frustrating. None of what they wear is going to somehow affect them later unless they don’t have parents doing their jobs. Most people dress their boys like boys, and there’s nothing wrong with that. gisary matos No, more like Colleen has a solid point but then immediately contradicts herself by acting like she can only (or only wants to) buy things for Flynn from the “boys” section.

      I see what you mean but I don’t think she wants to buy her son clothes which day “be cute” or “I’m a princess” if they were girls clothes with substance instead of vanity she’d probably be all over it! How about pink dinosaur or racing car themed clothing? That’s what I interpreted her point to be!

    Make a clothing line. Please. This makes me so happy that other people with big platform are addressing this terrible problem. I talk about this with my family and they just make fun of me. Love you.

    Yeah I agree about the sayings on shirts. They should say "rockstar" or "changing the world" or something more positive. You go girl!

    Yeah, I agree! I was into Pokemon a few years ago and wanted a shirt with pikachu on it and my mum told me that it was a boys shirt and that I couldn’t get it. I was upset and I can still remember it.

    I think you’re reading too much into it. If you don’t like it don’t buy it.

    I wish I could just go to her house and help her with her videos. She’s such a great mom to Flynn and I want her to be happy with when she puts videos out

    Why not go to the “girl” section and buy outfits that are pink and purple for Flynn to wear?! It’s still possible to break stereotypes

      mixer_vampette_ arianator its always weird that poeople dont wanna force the pink colors on boys, but dint mind forcing blue colors on boys, or vice versa... wack!

      mixer_vampette_ arianator Putting a certain color on him is not forcing a color on him. If that was the case he wouldn’t be able to wear anything. Lol

    • @cmubabe07
      @cmubabe07 Před 5 lety

      It’s not forcing. She’s saying how frustrating it is that boy clothes are blue green and grey. Still she bought those. You can easily go to the “girl” section and get some pink and purple stuff for your boy so he’s in all colors. Quick easy fix and it’s one step to prove to stores that they can just make a kids section not separated into a boy section and a girl section. I put my boys in all colors and then as they get older (like her nephew Parker) they can make the choice to wear what they wish and know they have options!

    Flynn is so adorable. I love how you guys bathe him together. Such a sweet family! I also love how Eric always puts on the ET "OoOoo" voice when he talks to him.
