  • Believe it or not, after each video in this series is created, we set the project aside to take care of other builds and content happening at the RC Driver workshop. There are a lot of moving parts to what we do. But! The Project Maxx has circled back around and we’re continuing with building up this killer RC monster truck. In this video, we are swapping out the stock telescoping driveshafts of the standard width Steel CV Driveshafts. With this swap, you will also need new wheel hexes and nuts. Finishing off the video is a quick swap of the spur gear from the stock composite to the steel gear option. This project is coming along great, make sure you don’t miss a single episode!

    I recommend against adding grease to the CV coupling. It will basically collect dust and just turn into grinding paste and eat away at the metal parts.

    Is there something to do to hold in c clips instead of the new drive cvd’s
    Was hoping to keep the stock parts for a bit. Do they break easy
    What about kids and 2 s fun. Will it hold up for that the original driveshaft’s❤️👊😀
    Any help is gold thanks. 👍😊
    Ohh and did it come with threaded arm pins stock.
    Mines threaded and has a hole like for a retainer screw that’s not used. 🤓👍

    • @Sebasr151
      @Sebasr151 Před 4 lety +1

      I had the same question and called Traxxas. You can leave the stock pinion gear in. They with that spur gear you can run a 23-27 pinion gear. The difference is acceleration vs top speed. You also want to be carful where you run the top speed set up (26/46), it could put to much strain on your truck.

      @@rcdriver so you have to buy those and 8996x for them to fit with wide maxx kit and the hubs? I bought it n wide maxxed it all in green.. so 530.00 for my truck 50 to wide maxx it and almost 200 more to get steel axels and true 17mm hubs thats krazy man.. but i must say I was confused cuz in the video urs is wide maxxed and you installed standard steel axle kit..

    I'm working on a 3d printed reinforcement for the stock axles and widemaxx kit. It will help prevent the twisting the kills the shaft. All these traxxas upgrades I can't help but say these vehicle should have been recalled like a real car and been put on by Traxxas or any other manufacturer. Anything outside of Traxxas upgrade replacement parts you should take care of yourself. Should be like a real car. That would be extra awesome.

    Another max video? With all these upgrade expenses might as well get a Tekno mt410. Much better than a max can ever be. Not biased. Just facts. Durability is top not h combined with stable jumps and able to jump further. Plus the steering and handling of a buggy. No need to worry about traction roll like the maxx does on street or any high traction. On loose dirt the Tekno is superior in the handling department. It does everything better than the traxxas maxx. No exaggeration.

    I think a toy truck that cost over five- hundred dollars, these so called upgrades should have been installed when new. This is the same old story that I dealt with over 10 years ago with the stampede and is still going on today?Why is it when armma and other manufacturers see a glaring problem they fix it!

    • @puzzleluvr
      @puzzleluvr Před 4 lety

      Because then you don't buy replacement parts 🤣
      But Arrma can't really throw stones, they have plenty of their own issues, like the diffs that are known to be weak.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC Před 4 lety

      All rtr rcs will need upgrades. Arrmas 4s line has weak diffs and shocks that puke out their fluid constantly. And to be fair the stock plastic axles hold up pretty well on the stock control arms.
