- Hello people! This is the second part to the Dogs comparison, this time skills, behaviors, activities, interactions, and other details surrounding dogs in The Sims series
There's going to be a third and last part uploaded within next week I want to believe which will end with puppies and the things that couldn't fit in this video like growing old, being given for adoption,
negligence, death, getting sick etc. So yeah, sounds like a lovely idea right? Anyways, hope to be able to finish that video on time.
So, what do you think about this comparison, who's your winner?
My opinion?
Sims 1 has some fun stuff for dogs to do when it comes to tricks but the rest of the skills are just too monotone for my liking and they're too limited and I hate not being able to control them...so yeah, let's just say it's not my favorite
Sims 2 has a good balance in all aspects, I love that they can get jobs of their own, it's something that is still unique to this series but I get that it's too unrealistic but then again, that's The Sims for ya.
Sims 3 had some good aspects, I like the hunting skill and the fact that you can guard a house, plus, it seems like they have way more interaction than the rest since the others got away with not even showing it so no one knew how lacking it was. The idea to borrow things from sims 2 while mixing things of their own made this feel more complete but those breaking animations just unnerve me! Specially after visiting Sims 4
Sims 4 is just charming with the smooth animations and the pet's looks, their interactions are good enough, training them is fun and all but the one thing I would've liked is to give them an actual purpose, since you can't control them (at least not without mods) it's reasonable but once you do get control you run out of things to do...well, at least I felt like I did. Again, I get it's because you're not supposed to control them but goddammit! I like to control my pets and have things to do with them thank you very much.
So for me none won. I'd mix the aspects I liked about each and if I HAD to pick one, at least on the topics I talked about here, I'd pick Sims 3 just because I like to control them and have them run around freely without worrying they're gonna get lost.
But that's just my opinion, share yours in the comment section ;D - Hry

Sims 3 also has a Pet Hygienator. Prevents fleas, cures fleas, and gives a long 8 hour +5 moodlet after a wash.
Anytime I get the points for that thing I get it, it’s very helpful when you have busy sims and it’s great when they have fleas

In the sims 3, the dog with aggressive trait, he chases the mail carrier, and that mail carrier runs away. It’s really funny to see it.

Is it only me who prefer the graphic of Sims 2 and sims 3, which is more detail in the animal's fur. Fur and hair is the hardest part to make in 3D graphic. Pet in sims 4 is beautiful too but they dont look real, and it's annoying that you can't control them or see their needs.
I think the animations and expressions of the sims 4 more realistic (particularly of the cats), even though the models are less detailed, if that makes sense?

I was playing Sims 1 a few days ago and sometimes it was hard to tell if the animal wandering in my backyard/street was a cat or a dog lol. But I always loved when dogs chase away the paper girl, it's hilarious!
I guess that's how you can tell xDD
You can also go on adventures with you dog multiple times, though I think the dog needs the adventurous trait and they can sing for you. Plus, sometimes smaller dogs can hide underneath the chair and couch and you can coax them out. You can also repair your furniture if your dog or cat was a real jerk.

I really miss the dog show and pet jobs from sims 1 and 2.

This isn't going to win me popularity points, but I honestly think that the Sims 4 dogs are the best, hands down. They feel the most like dogs -- they have quirks like real animals do, they seem to process and react to circumstances a lot more like real dogs do, etc. As someone who is a pet parent of a pit bull who's afraid of cardboard boxes, I promise you, the quirks thing is so real it's crazy. (She's currently hiding behind me because the washing machine is going in the other room and it's scary.) I also LOVE that cats can jump up on top of just about anything. The first time I saw a cat take a nap on top of the fridge in-game I laughed out loud. I love finding my sim's cats in random places. I also love how they'll hide under furniture, just like in real life; I don't remember pets doing that in previous games. And of course I love seeing how many "Simstagram" followers I can get.
There are some things I miss about previous games, like the pet shows and pet stores of Sims 1. I never much liked the pets in Sims 3 -- they felt too much like furry sims. The guard system was cool, but I hated that they didn't guard the house automatically. (What house in real life has ever been burglarized where the dog didn't defend the house because their person hadn't commanded them to guard the property before going to bed that night?) I also wasn't a big fan of jobs in the Sims 2 -- they made no sense to me, except for maybe the showbiz career. (When a police force needs a police dog, or a disabled person needs a service dog, they don't exactly hire someone else's dog for the day.)
I really miss the other animals, though. I love how Sims 4 dogs (and cats) will explore the bushes and get bitten by a squirrel or sprayed by a skunk, but I miss seeing it happen on-screen. And I miss the raccoons and deer and rabbits of previous games. (And before someone says something, a cat that resembles a raccoon is not a raccoon. There are no raccoons in Sims 4, nor are there foxes.)

Eh they did hide under the furniture in Sims 3. Mainly from fear or anger. IIRC it was limited to small size dogs and cats and limited to couch, sofas and beds. I had a grumpy cat who spent most of his life under something; but he was cool since he autonomously guarded stuff (mainly the pet bowl, the fridge or the house)

Same! I agree with you so much, especially with the cats jumping on the counters. Something I wish they would do is knock off glasses of water and food into the ground. Thatd be so much fun.
@@jewelsthecat5331 Cats jump on the counters in Sims 3 too, though. And then they take a nap there and make it hard to cook! It would be fun if they would also dump stuff on the ground, though.

Toddlers hugging big dogs in the Sims 2, is still the cutest interaction. Kinda sad that it isn't as cute in 4.

Once my cat had his first entire parcour with out faults in 46 minutes and his 2st training with fire rings went PERFECT never knew they could become champions that fast this whas in ts4

I like a lot of what Sims 4 has done with doggos, but bring back that corkscrew slide from Sims 1 and tug of war ropes from Sims 3! I was thinking just the other day that it's a shame that we don't have the latter.
They may add them in the second pet stuff if we're lucky :P

At sims 1 when the dogs would fight I'd laugh same with running the mail lady down the street cuz that yell. Tho sims 4 might be better just not being able to control them is a minus. (Without the playable pets mod)
Kinda odd older games made fetch an interaction, I've seen many dogs that just don't understand fetch, should have been a trick sooner though...
I think the sims 3 did a better job of making their breeds. For example, the corgi has a long body. The sims 3 actually gave the corgi a long body unlike the sims 4. The Samoyed is a medium sized dog. The sims 4 made the Samoyed way too tall.
The Red Plumbob what do you think of sims freeplay animals? Personally, I much prefer the quality of these sims games to the sims freeplay, but what's your opinion? Great video as usual :3

People who have said sims 4 probably have never played sims 3 (sims 3 pets is the best, you can have your pet hunt and teach it tricks. You can't even play as your pet in the sims 4 well only if you install the mod)

I think that sims 2 & 4 but 3 is good too and sims 1 was the first one and we had to give them a chance so it doesn't really count. But overall I enjoy the most Sims 2 & 4 and I do also have sims 3, but I don't like it as much.

Sergio Ferreira I honestly like not being able to control them. I can't hop into my cats mind and control her to see what's wrong every time she meows, so it makes it a bit more realistic, and makes the pet training skill actually useful
