Thanks for these 3 videos, they're excellent!
One point I might add, access to the water pump pulley bolts is much better if you remove the entire engine mount. It's just 3 extra bolts which are quite easily accessible and it leaves much more room next to the water pump.
    Thanks again!

Do you a life saver.. I thought I would need special tools with air impact. I did the dumbest thing and took off the belt first without loosening the pulleys! So have to put that back on. The steps are simple and I have the right tools. Thanks a mill. New subscriber! 🫡

Thank You So much for this series of videos. It got me started on removing the head on my 2005 Outlander. My timing belt seems to have skipped approximately five teeth or more (the cam is advanced from the crank. seems like it should be opposite). When I removed the number 2 plug it looked like it had been hit with a hammer. I am taking the head off to see if only the valves were affected. In which case I will get a rebuilt head. If the pistons or cylinders are bad, I think I will try a used engine imported from Japan. Any chance you could make a video on removal and replacement of the head? Unfortunately I cant find a repair manual (Haynes or Chilton's) so these videos are a godsend. THANKS AGAIN

Your videos helped me a lot. I have an 03 Outlander (4G64). There is a rubber plug that covers a hole in the wheel well to access the waterpump pulley bolts easy.
I took the head off mine due to it being an interference motor. No signs of damage.
Doing my own measurements, the valves do go into cylinder chamber, but pistons do not travel up far enough to make contact with the valves.

How critical is that oil pump being on time after replacing the water pump and all the belts, seals, sprockets and tensioner ? keeps going out of place after the initial perfect set up and after rotating the engine 4 times. it was also out of time when taking it all apart with the original marks all in place. Did I miss that oil shaft line up ? With timing belt off , bolt out of the block, I could not get the allan key in on the mark only off the mark no matter how many times I turned the sprocket to find the hole for the key to go in. Is that oil pump timing critical or will it work out of time ?

You stated you could be 360 degrees off, I'm guessing you're talking about being on the exhaust stroke instead of compression stroke. So when your belt breaks or strips teeth, how do you know which stroke you're on to put your belt back on? I have this exact problem right now and can't locate the answer.

Hello everyone, thanks to this video and all the supportive messages I feel like giving this wp replacement a go. I have an important question regarding this process, hope you can answer me!
So, In case i just need to replace the water pump, do I also have to set tanget at top dead centre as this video shows from min 7:00? Or I can just loosen the 4 bolts and take the crankshaft pulley off? In order to reach the wp I need to take the timing belt lower cover off, and in order to do so, first need to take the crankshaft pulley off, right?
Just need to know what steps do I need to skip if I want to replace just the wp. Thanks in advance!
