When I used to run an xmods club, we had Stock (no upgrades), Modified (anything but motor upgrade), open (any upgrade, including motor), pro, pro stock, pro mod, pro open. That seemed to be enough to keep everyone happy.

Just gettin back in after 20 yrs...Have an original Mini Z all hopped up I got in like 2001. Barely driven... Just ordered me a MR03 chassis and Ill let my girl take over the OG. Thanks for taking the time to 'distinguish' the rabbit hole lol. Back then there was only ONE Mini Z. Love it. Next stop is a 40ft by 20ft track in my garage. Cheers from deep in the Mtns of NY!

I certainly agree that Kyosho make great gear as Their RC Yachts are super cool and well built. I'm yet to own an RC Kyosho car though. I have at last count 9 various desert racers, road cars and buggies. Now the question I have is that I have a couple of Carisma GT24's in rally spec. They are really good fun to say the least. I was hoping on an honest comparison between the Fazers and the GT24 Carisma series?

I own almost every brand mostly 1/5 these days but I'm looking at this more n more and it'll be an easy sell when I (re)try to start a small group for racing in these cold Canadian nights ty! I've e been trying for years to get community members into it , they see me n my grandkids out driving or flying and everyone says man i'd love to try that.... and I never see them again lol

i'd put my Atomic, GL Racing and X-Power against any Kyosho at any trim any day of the week. i've owned and sold off most of my Kyosho cars except 2. my go to is the GLA very solid, very well built car. no broken plastic, no high priced upgrades, i built to my specifications and it wins races. I know the Kyosho fans won't agree but the GLA is a far more superior car, Carbon Fiber and Aluminum. a solid choice, also for us 1 10th scale racers its far more familiar when setting these up.

@@OswaldBeef You can use Mini Z bodies, I personally use the Mclaren P1 GT3 for my GLR-GT 98mm and a Sauber Mercedes C9 body for my GLR 104mm. Steering isn't an issue, especially with the GL Titanium servo and aluminum steering hubs, shock tower. Simple, inexpensive upgrades.
I run circles around the Mini Z's, especially when using my GLR with a Ensotech Swave W2 ESC, Ensotech Swave-ZM V3 6500KV Motor,

Would the R34 limited edition shell fit the r35 gtr kit?For the r34 it saws it’s for awd that is Narrow/L. I’m not sure what the L stands for but I just wanted to see if the R34 shell would fit even though the R35 is rwd.
Usually the awd shells will fit narrow rm. Might have to adjust motor mount but should fit
It should but u would probably need to make some adjustments. When it says awd L, it is referring to the awd chassis it would fit on. But it should also fit rwd rm with some adjustment to motor mount placement and you will need rwd wheels with a good offset to fit the body (comes with awd wheels)

Late comment but hope you can answer. Are Mini Z's capable of running outside on pavement or dirt (rally style)?
For the most part no, they are too low to the ground. They do make buggies and they even had a comic rally car for a few years which used the buggy chassis. You might be able to lift an awd and put some hard tires on it. But also remember at 1/28 scale a grain of sand or glass can do a lot of damage to moving plastic parts

Honestly, I don't think the surface is good if you plan to ever race off your own track. The tire set up and the way the track handles is very different from rcp track. But the surface was a type of thin partical board that is smooth on one side and rough on the other side, it was called Eduboard at Lowes. It was on top 1/2" plywood, which was on a framed out platform. The Eduboard was rough side up, then primed
Chalkboard paint is excellent for a 'home' surface. Plenty of grip for your rubber tyres and also great for drift spec.

Definitely, many parts can be upgraded and all can be replaced, similar to 1/10 scale

I’m looking for the video,on the build and materials of this course. Looks like that surface wouldn’t hold up well. What was used? Fiber board? Link to your video please?
Sorry, I never did a build video. I believe the surface is called "Hardboard Tempered Panel" it was laid textured side up on top plywood and was primed. We just took it down a month ago, and other than having to add a few screws because of humidity making it want to curl up, it lasted very well. I don't really recommend it, I would find out what the tournament standard is in your country and practice on that. In the US it is rcp track, so that is what we now use since we have more space available to set up a track. If you plan to race outside of your house/local store it is best to practice on the surface most commonly found
Kyosho needs to make the ford Shelby 500 cobra
so what is the best to start with. I assume stock as Ill get my son a ready set and get one for myself as well to come out of Ret from racing ebuggy and wheeler. I assume the MM wide is thr best to go in Stock Rwd class? any help would be greatful
U are correct, mm wide is a great start... lots of body's, stable but still agile. The main thing is getting your tires right for the surface you are racing on. If you're at home, a racing surface you can get good traction on is important. Start stock, worry about tires. Once that is locked in, u can play with upgrades. If the track is technical, worry more about handling than top speed.
