  • In this video we continue Leveling Up the Mini-z MA-020 from my Stage 1 set up to Stage 2. The Gyro made the most change in performance for this stage, while the metal parts improved durability and stability to the handling. The cosmetic upgrades consist of custom headlights and taillights with Digital Underglow LEDS controllable via a wifi app, I also go over body kits for future car bodies I'll be building. The last thing I cover are the 3d printed mounts for my FPV(First Person View) and HD cameras. I added the simulated police chases to make the Test Drive parts a little more entertaining to watch so I hope you enjoy!
    Sorry if the music is a little loud, didn't notice until after uploading.
    *When I say Swing Arms, I mean Drive Shafts*

      I hear ya, I still use my Taranis X9d+ for all my drones, helis, planes but haven't made the switch to use it with my cars. Maybe down the road I will but for now I'm still using the trigger radios and I agree owning a hobby shop would be awesome just wish there was more people interested in RC so it was more popular and could actually make some money through these addictive hobbies lol

    fpv everthing! you a micro guy too!!! was thinking of putting those magnetic camera mounting thing in for fpving (the ones from those little diatone/sniclo/snt cars). just power it directly from a battery. but your mounting looks awesome too! even better to combat that jello 💪

      Yep micro drones was my main hobby for years before I started messing with Mini-Z's. Unfortunately micros are not as popular as they were a few years ago so it's hard to make videos on them to get a channel going so I put more time into these little RC cars. Yea those little magnet mounts seem pretty convenient to swap on and off any miro RC thing, I just have a lot of old fpv parts from my micro drones so I'm trying to give them use where ever I can. To be honest I haven't had a lot of time lately to drive or fly anything fpv as much as I'd like to but I do one day wanna get some fpv vids going again to post on here eventually, just not sure when :/

      Thanks bud, I appreciate it. Been a lil busy unfortunately but short answer is I designed them in Tinkercad then 3d printed them out of PLA. The screw mounts on them are pretty fragile so I covered them in epoxy to strengthen them before painting. Went through tons of prototypes

    What's the poijt of camber adjustment when you have rounded tires? You're always gonna have the same contact patch regardless of spring compression or roll.

    • @AirToGroundRCFPV
      @AirToGroundRCFPV  Před 6 měsíci

      You don't have to add camber if you don't want to and I don't always run round tires and like the way it performs with 4 degree camber, feels like the wheels really lean in on aggressive turns giving it a little more grip while throwing the back end out. They do make tires that match the degree of camber you have as well which are best I would think. Also, it seems like all the serious RC drifters out there like lots of camber so your question is probably better answered by one of them, I just drive these Mini-Z's for fun. Hope that helps

To be honest it's been a pain in the ass lol but I'm making it low profile so I can fit my MR-03 98mm racing wide bodies on it, I'm just having trouble finding the time to juggle between it, my MA-020 and the bodies I've been painting.

    • @AirToGroundRCFPV
      @AirToGroundRCFPV  Před 4 měsíci +1

      By force lol Yea if I remember correctly that happened to me on the stock ones, you can stand the cvd vertical on the table and hold it steady with your hand and with your other hand use a tool like pliers, curved tweezers or something similar and place the tips flat on two sides of the top of the bearing and then press straight down the best you can to get it off. Maybe put some spray lubricant on the cvd too to help loosen it to get it to slide off if its really stuck, hope that helps and good luck!

      @@orsini3569Yep, toe-out in front and toe-in in the rear. Camber is more useful in the front so it's not as important in the back but it helps the look to match the front. Also Toe-in in the rear isn't as important as Toe-out is in the front so prioritize the front end first then do what you can to the back end when you can. I did find one set of toe-in control arms on ebay but it's like 35 bucks for a set of 3 so maybe I'll switch to them down the road just not that important especially since I can get a DWS rear end for like 40 to 60 and then can't use those control arms anyway so I'll have to decide which route to take when I have some spare funds
