- I decided to add the latest fountain pen ink from the "Down the Rabbit Hole" ink collection from Ferris Wheel Press, to my personal collection! "Aventurine" is the name of this new ink continuing the Wonderland aesthetic by taking us "Through the Looking Glass." This ink is a watery gray with a pink shimmer that very much gives the appearance of a rippling mirror!
After swatching this ink is a little too watery for my personal taste. However, the effect is rather neat. I will probably use this going forward in some art form. I didn't really love it in my zoom nib fountain pen. The gray is just too light for me, but I did really like the subtle shimmer. It is very pleasing! It did not show up right away, but it is there. Writing with this ink has a little bit of a fantasy feel. If you like light gray and shimmer, this is lovely!
Supplies Used:
Ferris Wheel Press Fountain Pen Ink- Down the Rabbit Hole "Aventurine" (FerriTales)
Tomoe River Paper Notebook- (gouletpens.com)
Sailor Fountain Pen- "Stellar Black Hole" (Zoom Nib)
Interesting, thank you!
You're welcome!
Oh man, this is such a swooney color. I do wish they’d make some of the colors in this series a bit more saturated in color. Those of us with old people eyes are strugglin’! This color is sooo up my alley though.
This really is a swooney color! I am always up for more saturation though!
I wish I had bought these instead of the wearingeul inks themed alice in wonderland. Live and learn. Edit: this one is too low contrast for me to enjoy writing with. I’m glad you do these videos. You’re saving me a small fortune. God bless you.
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching!
I have a VERY conflicted relationship with this ink right now haha. I went back and forth on whether or not to buy a full bottle of it when purchasing the rest of the FerriTales collection and ended up going for it, but I hope I don't end up regretting it. I LOVE the way this ink swabs, and cannot stop admiring it when I collectively skim through my ink sample swabs. But when I put it in my Pilot Prera last week (which has a medium nib, but writes on the finer end of the nib spectrum), trying to write with it was an absolute nightmare because it just didn't flow. I really appreciate you showing the box where it actually says "Pair with Medium and Broad Nibs," I'll bet that will likely make the writing experience with it less awful. I'm going to try it in one of my Lamy Al-Star medium pens next (which all flow much better overall and write more broadly) and see if that helps. If not, I may have to spring for a spare broad nib and give that a try. Also it was announced this week that Blushing Mushroom is being released in August, which looks very close in color(s) to Adventurine. I may just get conflicted all over again soon with that one :P
It is a really neat ink to play with! I like the sample swabs and spatters so much! I saw they announced the new one! I guess I'll have to keep up the collection!😄
When I first tried Robert Oster Rose Gold Antiqua I didn’t like it because the shimmer just didn’t show up. I decided to remove the ink that was in there, REALLY shake up the sample and re-ink and now I can’t get enough. It might be something to consider to get the shimmer to show up better in the writing. 😊
It's just a really watery ink with a subtle shimmer. I've been using it for a bit now and it has been consistent. It's nice, but a change from FWP more intense inks.
It can be tricky with shimmer inks though! That shimmer likes to stay put.
I use the same ink swatching book!
I bought this for the same reason. Now I have to get the new one out "Blushing Mushroom ". Lol
I love using this size for swatches! I feel like I need to continue the collection with "Blushing Mushrooms." 😄

My first thought when I saw the ink name: this isn't any rabbit hole. This is the rabbit hole of fountain pen ink-
😁
This is mostly a 'glass dip pen' ink for me - rare use and maximum ink output on the page.
I bet that is quite pretty!
I recommend trying different nibs…I first inked this in a Broad nib pen, one that would lay forth a lot of ink (as the ink’s box recommends) and I didn’t care for it at all, it wrote like a faint pencil, almost illegible. Later I inked it up in a Fine nib pen and it writes with more saturation of colour from that pen. It’s still not my favourite ink, but I like it a lot better, and it’s certainly an ink I can use regularly.
I haven't tried it with a fine nib! Good to know!
As always, excellent illustration of this ink's properties. But, the ink itself ... meh! I'm still lovin' that pen though!
I do adore this fountain pen!
