Good info on oil change
👍
Can you tell me what kind of transmission oil this machine takes? Also, when should I change the transmission oil for the first time on a brand new unit? Thank you for this video, very helpful!!
I was told the tyranny oil and motor oil are 1 and the same
Honda GN4 10W 40
When you changed the trans filter had you drained the trans oil?
This machine has a dual clutch transmission inside the motor with a filter and a sub transmission on the front of the motor
Is the transmission oil different from the motor oil?
The transmission is in the engine, but the sub transmission is separate on the front of the motor
I removed the oil pan nut but no the oil tank nut when i changed my oil. is that going to cause me issues?
Can you say it again I don’t understand your question??
@@MaxsMotoShopI just realized I only opened the plug for the oil pan and drained the oil from that. I didn't see the other drain plug for the oil tank. I am guessing that not all the oil drained outta my motor since I didnt pull the other plug. Do you think that will cause me issues? (ha ha sorry I just read my message from earlier and it didnt make sense)
@@rs-vl2im only a small amount of oil stays in the engine most of the oil stays in the oil tank… I would say you only drained 1/3 of the old oil you might want to do a complete oil drain👍
@@MaxsMotoShop ok thank you for the reply
Step #1. Give the machine a quick spray down to get all of that mud and dirt off it so it doesn't end up inside your machine when doing oil & filter change.
Yes, that is a very good tip. Make sure you wash and properly clean your machine before bring it to a mechanic.
I like the looks of the Honda Pioneer 1000, but gosh, the engineering for maintenance is not that good. The shield below is going to be a magnet for oil (as seen in your video) when doing an oil change. I would like more thought and larger access holes. Nice video. Merci
I’ve done services on almost every machine. This is one of the easier ones out there. Everything is accessible.👍
Most normal people remove their skid plate when they do oil changes on Pioneers. They also make sure they clean the machine before hand, not to mix oil and dirt together. Obviously this guy doesn't care to use common sense, he's just throwing out a quick video. At least he could've hosed it off first or used a foam cannon on it.
@@TSemasFl ... understood. But, I think a simple access plate makes more sense within the skid plate... instead of removing the entire skid plate. verse the drain hole in the skid plate.
@@TSemasFl no nobody remove their skid plate to change the oil on this machine. Honda has conveniently placed very good holes for the oil to drain and they were great. Very good point if people didn’t want dirt dropping in their machine they would clean it before they brought it to the mechanic because I can guarantee they don’t wanna pay me $120 an hour to wash their dirt off. Kind of disrespectful as well. I’m a professional mechanic foam cannon’s for garage warriors👍
@@TSemasFl lmao do you want a foam cannon do it yourself or pay some kid to clean it not a mechanic at $120 an hour
😅😅😅😅
