How to land a cinelifter? Create a landing PID profile and activate it in flight!

Errata: "Permanently enabled Air Mode" feature has to be disabled to have Air Mode as a flight mode.
Landing big and heavy drones, especially a cinelifter carrying an expensive video camera is not a trivial task. If you are not careful enough, it will result in jumps on touchdown. The drone will handle it not a problem, but the camera (usually more expensive than the whole drone) will not like the treatment.
With INAV you can build a special rate profile with lowered PIDs and activate it in flight. - Věda a technologie
Dude I wish you lived in the USA, we could fly all the time! I could listen to you talk all day!
Come visit Poland, it's beautiful this time of a year :)
I needed this. Thanks Pawel!
You got it!
How? By using optical flow sensor, ultrasonic distance sensor, barometer, GPS and auto-land feature found in INAV
AFAIK, there's no way to activate autoland manually. Which is a shame, IMHO.
@@adilsongoliveira I'm just trying to irritate Pawel a bit - negative motivation xD
@@fluoxethine Yeah, I wish there was a landing mode as well. As a matter of fact I wonder why this is not an option.
Or you implement the "landing" mode in the mode tab. Yes I am rude, I apologise, again. 😅
There are enough "modes" already ;) Yet, I'm thinking about land assist mode indeed
@@FPVUniversity I really hope it doesn't do that if you're fairly close to home?
@@FPVUniversity 🤣 sounds great. Right, many modes, I am getting ready to test the soaring mode in the 3 meter glider. I am curious how it finds the angle of attack to avoid a stall
If trying to land results in bouncing like this, then there's something wrong with the control algorithms. It shouldn't be "band-aided" by having to manually disable airmode at the right moment or disarm quickly.
I also found enabling RTH inside the trigger distance gives a gentle landing. Can you see any traps in using this?
well, if you are below RTH altitude it will climb first :)
Should profile 2 be activated automatically while switching on Failsafe (activating RTH)? Probably not, because that profile could make it difficult for the drone to come back from far away.
No, rather not. I mean, it's possible to activate it automatically during Failsafe RTH as logic conditions allow to detect the state, but I would not do that
P.S. It's much much easier if you put airmode on a switch and you just flip it before landing and no more bounce at all...
It's part of the solution :) Watch the whole video. But Airmode on a switch is not enough
Hi Pawel y disarm my X8 before Touch earth any way much better your solución anyway... You are our reference.
If you land a cinelifter like this you don't need any landing pids and cinelifter eighter..
Dobry materiał, mam podobny problem
cieszę się, że się podoba
@@FPVUniversity Pisałem na e maila do Pana w tej sprawie
in the 3.03 there is no set profile, how i can do
Upgrade to the latest version
I think as a beginner you should not fly a cinelifter^^
why? They are not hard to fly :) They are only expensive to crash with payload and hard to land ;)
@@FPVUniversity more weight, more impact :) if you can't land properly, you don't have the drone properly under control and in my opinion you should just keep practicing.
