  • The stock headlight on the DRZ400SM and many other older bikes are pretty bad by the standards of today. Thankfully there are options out there like this light from JNS Engineering www.jnsengineering.com/ I was hoping for a improvement i was not prepared for this!

    Great vid. I agree. I purchased a 2020 DRZ400SM last Summer and installed a JNS Engineering LED headlight soon after buying my bike. The light is amazing. Not only is it very bright, but I think it updates the look of the bike as well. I also installed a set of Denali Electronics daytime running lights on the front fender to increase my visibility. I removed the little amber side reflectors and used the holes on the metal piece to mount the lights. The lights I purchased come in white or amber. I chose the amber for contrast from the headlight. They are very bright.

      The problem with using the LED bulbs alone is often you will find they do not sit in the correct location for the low and high beam geometry of the headlight reflector. Secondly in the UK they are about to or have made LED bulbs in a housing they were not designed for I.e any bike that came with a standard bulb an MOT fail. Obviously, if they do sit right and you switch them out on mot day you should be fine.

    That headlight is definitely not bright enough in my opinion. I just upgraded mine to an 4x6 LED that has 15 LEDs that are extremely bright and that is what you need.

    I bought this light in hopes it was good it was NOT don’t get me wrong it’s brighter then the stock light but the low beam is worthless and you have to run it on the high beam for it to even be useful let’s all be honest it’s better then stock on the high beam but it sucks I feel like I wasted my money I should have just went with the BD squadron in the first place about to install that bad boy today see what those are all about

      Honesty and you won't like this wait till your 17 and get a 125cc on a cbt. 50cc bikes are not great on the uk roads and as soon as you turn 17 you will want a 125cc. I would advise waiting and saving up.

    Just an overpriced ebay headlight.

    • @nickthorne5872
      @nickthorne5872 Před 3 lety

      Damn right dude! This light is like $30 on ebay, but with no mounting brackets/hardware. $140 at JNS. That means you pay $110 for two very basic brackets and some nuts and bolts. And as you can see in the begining of this video, the brackets are designed so they just sort of pinch onto the edges of the housing. I was so close to checking out for one of these on JNS before continuing to research and discovering this. May look into to buying the ebay light and fabricating the brackets myself.

    • @viatubo1
      @viatubo1 Před 2 lety

      @@spicy110 I was not aware that this was a party. I'll keep it smple for you by pointing out the unsutibility of your examples. In short, Ze ze Top and Jay Zee are obviously American products, hence the habit of pronouncing the zed as zee (as in north American English) in other English speaking regions of the world. DRZs are Japanese products which would logically mean that a North American would refer to it as dee ar zee and an English South African, Australian, etc. as dee ar zed. A non-North American Americanising the zed makes no sense, except to demonstrate the unfortunate low rate of literacy skills and low level of cultural awareness in today’s Anglosphere (not to mention the detremental cultural hegemony of American English). An example would be my personal experience of growing up and riding dirt bikes for 40 years in Australia and only ever knowing YZs as why zeds not why zees.
