Only one side slot is good idea but it stops a person trying to adjust the height of the lever as it can only fitted in one angle Which is the reason that OEMs do that Although I agree with rest of the points
He is explaining that his style of shift lever where the splines do not have a space for the bolt to go through the lever tends to reduce the contact patch Instead his design the splines cover the whole rod with only one small area where there is a space for the bolt go through This allows for less wear and tear of the splines additionally some aftermarket are not hardened which makes them wear faster IMO good idea just that I think you lose the flexibility to move the lever around Hope that helps
