The huge problem with all modern cars is unnecessary complexity from the inclusion of luxury features There is a huge market for a simple, reliable car that is practical and fun to drive and affordable. I do not see a compelling argument for remote start, Apple i-play, etc.
I'd agree other than remote start, we had a '98 Jeep with remote start a long time ago, an absolute God send when it's zero F and the car is caked in ice! I don't know why that feature wasn't more standard in the Midwest.
EV’s sales may be up 40%, but for the middle class they are not affordable. They still catch fire, they are not efficient in hot or cold weather, and it takes a long time for the battery to charge. And do not forget the terrible mileage on a single charge, not good at all. EV’s have a long way to go.
This was pretty predictable. I wonder how many lower level executives and engineers knew this was a bad strategy and tried to intervene? I can hear it now, "... what do you know about running a company?" Big "toldja so!" 😂
The big 3 had their chance time and again and they blew it. I just bought a new Toyota and I'll be driving it when I'm old and grey. I just haven't got the money to waste on inferior vehicles. Ask CZcams mechanic Scotty Kilmer what he things of the big 3 and electric cars. He hasn't got a positive thing to say about any of them ... but he highly recommends Toyotas and Hondas.
I've always driven GM and my wife Toyota, Hyundai, Subaru. I have to say my GMs have been the more reliable, and especially much cheaper and easier to repair. But then my wife drives like a NY cab driver!
Let the whole American automotive industry go to hell. In 2008 GM and Chrysler received huge bailout by taxpayers, but they did not do anything positive. I hate their unreliable 70k trucks, I want foreign trucks with no tarrifs!
@PS-js9oh they used to be very reliable before exporting jobs and computers. If they would go back to that, they would probably be able to make a $8000 and sell it for 20 just for the reliable and easy to use factor.
@PS-js9oh serious shi, I work on everything currently. I've been in the collision industry for 30 years. I'm not rich, but I'm not poor. I see what's inside these new cars. I see what makes them tick. All I drive is old chevys. My wife has an Acura, but rather drive the pimped out g body. So believe what you want, I don't care. I'm not the one paying car notes or leasing a car that I'd never own.
True, but we have looming mandates for EVs, they have to be seen to try or they potentially have no future. Then again the mandates are looking increasingly likely to fail.. that's the best hope for Ford but they have to hedge their bets meanwhile..
GM is a corporation that runs on credit and has creditors, and they are the owners. This is a problem with all corporations and governments, they all run on credit and have creditors, who are the owners and the powers that should not be, that rule from behind the scenes.
I consider myself an expert in many products.. bicycles, wood fired pizza, tamales and motorcycles, 100% cotton tshirts..in all of those products, when you make something that people want, the consumer will drive the market. So good pizza,no matter how saturated, over crowded the market it will sell. EVs are different, there is a tiny current market, w most vehicle buyers having a negative opinion. And now EVs are being designed backwards.. pickup trucks are the best selling vehicles for decades ( Ford F-150) and the EV manufacturers are still not making trucks w similar capabilities. I can drive from Northern Baja to Austin Texas w zero planning,no planned route and can tell a person on the other end what time I will get there within a couple of hours.. getting gas is very very different than electric range and the truck doesn't demand I choose a hotel or motel close to a charging station. If you make a good product, something that is fun or easy to use. A product that works well.. people will buy it,EVs don't meet all the criteria yet.. And specifically..many electric motorcycles are excellent in performance.. but price and capacity, the rage sucks!! If you try San Diego to Scottsdale. You need @5-8 minutes for combustion engine re fuel and 2.5-3 hours if you go to regular charging station.. and the cost per mile is slightly higher for gas.
A new lier? The EV sales are up. There are sold 14M of them in a year. Transition and propaganda works like this: 1. They laugh about it. 2. They sue it. 3. They try to compete with it. 4. They lie about it. So, the lying is a sign, that the EV war is almost won. The transition adoption works like this: 1. EV's are bought as a Second car. 2. The sale of hybrids soars. 3. The charging infrastructure matureds. 4. The EV sale soars. 5. Trucking goes electric. 6. Farming goes electric. 7. All other vehicles goes electric. So, here the USA are at fase 2.

A chevy bolt is 27000 with tax credit that is 20000.
Name me a new car that is less than 20k

My last GM was a '66 Caprice coupe that I had in the 80's.

GM just needs to get away from the ev market and just stick to gas and diesel vehicles most people don’t want ev’s

hahaha 23% growth to 1,3 millions in June 2024 compared the same month last year!
She should have been fired. Shows how messed up GM is.
Tesla's competition is coming All over them self 😂😂😂
Girl bosses are a companies doom. Or girls in marketing or girls in DEI departments, easily led. GM better get it's act together.
