You don't ever see a motorcycle parked at a therapist office. Nothing like a good ride to get your head straight during tough times.
if you do it's always in employees only parking
But my cousin rides and sees a therapist?
I have. Then again Ive seen big bad biker gang guy cry like a baby. He had a good reason to but still. Ive seen alot of broken stereotypes. O always thought Honda was laughable. Thought all bikers were assholes. But no. Ive made a couple friends in my nieghborhood just asking them about bikes. I had thos big mean looking guy on a Harley show me the basics on a bike. Clutch throttle brakes and the way the gears work. Sweet guy.
my mom had a throw pillow that said that exact same thing lmao
I always love that kind of thing. What I've found is that most stereotypes about motorcyclists, like that theyre mean and rude, are completely false. many of the bikers that I know are some of the nicest people I know too.
Whenever anyone asks me why I ride a motorcycle, I always respond "because I haven't learned how to fly yet"
PoppaJoe Mann me too bro
Thank you 😎
I learned to fly first lol. But still am wanting to start riding
PoppaJoe Mann just smoke a blunt
Well I have my pilots license and still ride. Motorcycles are the next closest thing to that feeling for me.
It sounds like you are boutta break up in tears every second bc of your harley
ChocoCake 5 HAHAHAHA
Never driven a car. I've been riding for 6 years straight, I wouldn't change it for the world.
P2K i got on the road in a bike first then 2 years later when i turned 18 i got my first car lol, only used my dads truck to pass the dmv tests and when my 2 bikes broke down
In no particular order my 5 reasons.
1. $ to HP. Unbeatable on a bike.
2. Freedom, independence, being a non-conformist. (I'll put that as one reason)
3. Community, bikers are bikers and we stick together and aren't judgemental (of other bikers).
4. Fun! Twist of the wrist and all your troubles are gone! (even if it is only temporarily).
5. Individualism; you can personalise a bike for a lot less cash in and in a much more interesting way than a cage.
Bikes dont nessecerily have that much horsepower for the money but the horsepower to weight ratio is insane with motorcycles I think this is more of what you meant with #1
True dude
Which bike is he driving in the video
@@shanu6478 dyna low rider S (:
Had a good laugh at that metal gear exclaimation mark/ sound when you "scared" that guy.
able75 dev me too lol
My reasons to ride:
1. Its meditative. I have to be fully mentally present so it makes me clear my head to ride safely.
2. Its a properly human activity. While our cars are increasingly driving themselves, motorcyclists control their bikes, not the other way around.
3. It reflects the reality of life. There is risk and there is reward. The biggest factor in determining which I get is my skill and competence.
4. Like you said brother; its freedom. I do not know how I will die. But I will die free.
Frank Right on!
Most people will say you will die on a motorcycle me I say I want one you can literally die just by standing still
I couldn't agree more
I love having that time alone. You have to totally clear your mind. It's actually really peaceful.
Even If you ride alone all the time, You Never Ride Alone... The Salute was the ''IT MOMENT'' where I felt that I belonged to something that only a very few ever get to experience somewhere that A Map doesn't cover in One's Soul!!! 🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍
To add: you'll never know what you like until you try it. Sign up for MSF course and become one with your bike. Much respect to Blockhead and crew, for spreading positive vibes. If you're on the fence, just watch Blockheads videos and the genuine friendship and love for bikes between bikers is what you'll inevitably receive!! Just here to spread more biker love! Cheers man! Great content as always!
Freedom. Mans the only animal who creates his own cage...
I 100 percent agree with you but since I live in Cali we have this beautiful thing called lane splitting which if use responsibly and efficiently can cut your already shorten travel time in half
He'll yeah lane slpit on point Cali love.
Great vid. I would add : ability to park anywhere (especially in cities and events) : ability to get through traffic jams : striking up of conversations- so many ppl just walk up to you to talk about your bike : the ability to smell everything you can’t inside a car : the feeling of freedom: reduction of pollution : and its FUN - especially in corners. Oh I forgot the ability to ride in a group (try that in a car). 👍👍
I got my first and only bike for $1,200 from craigslist. It's a 2003 Honda Shadow VLX 600. I'm lovin' it. :D Haha
Nice. I just bought a 2008 Yamaha FZ6 600CC as my first bike a few months ago and rode it through the winter because I couldn't wait for the weather to warm up. One thing I didn't think about when buying it was the electrics. The owner redid all of the front-end electrics and now it's a goopy electrical tape mess for me to have to deal with instead of the decent OEM wiring. If you don't have any soldering skills and basic electrical knowledge, pay attention to that when buying a used bike. You could easily pay a shop $1000 in labor to fix anything electric.
Yeah, that would be a headache for me for sure. :) Also, I agree that electrical tape residue is very annoying. It has a sticky and slimy feel to me, as far I remember. There is liquid electrical tape, too. Look into that.
Edit: Oh! And congrats on the new bike. Have fun. Ride safe. I remember my first real practice ride was actually in the rain. What a great memory that was.
huyked my first bike, got it late last year, its a 05 sporster 1200 California style chopper absolutely love it.
@mourning SMILE
Dang. Cool. A chopper.
That's 1200 cc. Whoa, that's powerful for a first bike.
I just bought a 2005 Honda Shadow Aero 750 last week because I wanted a more reliable bike for long distance travel (5 gears vs. 4 to the VLX 600). Got it way below market value, so quite the steal (family discount; ~1/2 off), so had to get it.
Anyhow, ride safe and enjoy.
huyked Meant to respond earlier, but that goopy old tape is still my biggest issue with it. Nearly impossible to clean off well even with Goop Off. With this experience I don't see myself using electrical tape for anything even remotely permanent; only heat shrink.
Closest thing to flying - that's what I say to all my friends who don't get it :)
More like hovering, but I get what you're saying. On a car, you usually have a big ass hood in front of you. On a motorcycle, you don't have much abstructing your view.
I have an extra reason but it only applies for California, you can "legally" lane splitting so you can avoid all the traffic on your commute
Wish we had that reason in FL!
Same thing in the UK, it's a shame young people can't ride big bikes though
Iam pretty sure we can lane split in fl
@@jaxierencarnacion2523 no its illegal
To me, is the best anti-stress in the world!
I've got my bike to avoid rush hour traffic.
Very important reson..
Thanks for sharing the video.
🏍
I have a scooter, so some people are iffy with me, but I love riding, even if it is slow haha. I was hit a few months ago, and everyone looked at me weird when I wanted to keep the scooter (still runs and I replaced the turning signal and brake that broke) but it is just so relaxing. When I'm mad or having a bad day, riding the scooter to go get a snack, or riding to go get the mail, or just riding, helps tremendously
So glad I found your channel. You have some great information. Thank you buddy.
was looking to lessen my gasoline bill and ended up loving my new indian! i love riding !
You know, these are the exact reasons I have in mind to buy a motorcycle when I finally move out to another place. Keep on those great vids, mate!
Good points, love the vid, keep it up
Reason 4! I became a better (car) driver after I took the Safe Rider Course and got my M class license. And THERAPY! My bike makes me feel free. You can't get that in a car. Deuces ✌️
Agreed!
Yeah, me too... much better driver after learning to ride.
Me Tree 🤓 ✌🏻
“$40 to fill up my truck”
I miss those days😔
My first bike was a Yamaha WR125R, got it at the age of 15. Its only a 125 cc bike, but i only got the A1 license. Looking into 600cc bikes now tho :)
I really enjoy the vlog. Always interesting and fun. Made me commit to getting my first bike.
Could you up the audio levels in your edits just a tad bit. I listen on my iPhone and sometimes it’s pretty quiet.
been riding since i was age 4 my first bike i ever had was a yamaha 50cc then a honda xr80 then a yamaha 250 raptor then a honda trx400ex now im getting my motorcycle license and tomorrow i pick up a crf250l
neat ride, great vid!
sup block head nice vid , always
Thanks Nova!
My truck gets 10-12mph. I leave for work every morning with the average temp about 40F...perfect riding weather this time of year. My bikes average around 35+mph. Plus, in CA we Lane Split so I reduce my commute time sometimes by 90%. Less maintenance, more fun and in the wind! Oh, and then fairly often at a red light, someone will comment "nice bike".
One MAJOR drawback is wearing gear in the heat. I grew up riding with no helmet. Rarely wore a jacket unless in cold weather. In fact, I rode in a T shirt and jeans, cowboy boots, sunglasses in -7F once. I didn't realize it was that cold until I stopped. I didn't stop shaking until mid day the next day. So, I wear gear nowadays (mandatory helmet law now), but it really sucks in hot weather. I've gotten used to wearing a helmet but still hate it. It affects my hearing and vision and makes me feel less safe. By the way, I've been riding over 50 years.
40F?! that's cold dude especially in California where most people aren't used to the cold, well at least in Southern California. Awesome though
Honda civic does just as good as your quoted MPG that's when riding smoothly what all of us never do anyway I rode a honda rebel 250 the original ones that got like 75 MPG no shit & I was broke going through college shit job & raising kids I remember only changing oil once & patched tire once not change out heck I drove that thing to save bucks for 4 years constantly all 4 seasons
Fran Mitch i miss getting 60 mpg on my little 300 lol
dude use punctuation next time.
hey been subbed for a while, been binge watching foe a while now...
i recently watched a vid when you were out riding with some people, well one of the riders had a white v rod and some bronze-ish pipes that were super loud, i was hoping maybe you could do a test ride on a v rod, any model would do, id just like to really see it, and i know they quit making them but still... thanks for the vids take care brotha
For sure, we'll se it up! :)
Ive watched so many motovlogers such as yourself that I drive my car like a motorcycle lolx. I also hear that motorcycles are excellent forms of therapy.
Merry Xmas, Block!
Dr.Phillips rd. I graduated from that middle school by the water tower.
I got my first vulcan for 100 dollars it was a 02 and I had to fix it but it made me appreciate it so much more
I enjoy your videos but the way you come to a stop and nearly rear end these people in cars got my anxiety going nuts bro! 😂😂 but good videos 💯
My truck gets 14 mpg, my bike gets 64 mpg, gotta love the motorcycle
2:21 dat car is doing the moonwalk lmao
Those are all very good reasons, especially number 4. Nice video bro.
I’ve been paying $400 in insurance every month when I don’t even like the car i drive or driving a car. After my friend took me on a ride on his bike I’ve been dying to get one. Hopefully I’ll sell my car and get a bike soon the vids have helped a lot so thanks. These reasons are gonna come in handy when I talk to my parents about getting a bike.
I love you blockhead!!
One more perk...
Women LOVE bikers!!!
haha
Just b/c a woman got your number in traffic, lol. Well done sir ;)
best reason yet
That.... I am not so sure about
Awesome video man! Currently in the conflict of how I'll tell my parents as they hate motorcycles and think they are very dangerous.
Justin Sampson just do it, they'll just have to get over it. Yes it'll disappoint them, but remember it's your life. Not theirs. You have one life to live... would really want to go through life saying "I wanted to do that but I couldn't because of my parents?" No doubt love and respect your parents, they brought you into this world. But you're free to make your own decisions in life.
thanks nobama For the advice I have already decided I'm going to do it as I am a young adult and plan on having the bike all in my name. The question I was asking was how I'm going to tell them that I'm getting a bike because they hate them
Justin Sampson lol do what i did... just bring it home. They'll freek... then tell you to becareful and to make sure to wear your gear.
This won't help you with your parents but bikes aren't dangerous, it's the other freaks in cars that are dangerous. The word for bikes is vulnerable, and there's no answer to that one. We are more vulnerable. It does however make you a better all round driver / rider (if you survive long enough).
My parents were very against them as well. So were a few of my previous relationships. If I was a young adult / teenager still living w/ my parents, I doubt a bike would ever happen. However, if you're on your own, supporting yourself and are responsible, there's no reason you shouldn't be allowed to do what you want to do (so long as it's legal of course, haha.)
Lucky for us, motorcycles are legal ;)
Agree with everything but the maintenance, mainly because of tires
I was thinking about subing and then he was like "Look, I'm about to scare this guy" then I subbed
from miami and these reasons made me decide to get my first bike! im getting a ninja 650
HAHAH 0:58 the 'nod of approval'
Idk why dude but you sound like BakerXDerek love the vids haha
"It makes you pay attention more"
- drives into a school area
Love you so much!
I'm glad to learn(from a different video) when you've stopped at the traffic lights, I've noticed you're at the edge of the lane so the cager in front of you can easily see you through their side-mirror... I'm so close to getting my first bike.
#Zambia #africa
Gorgeous bike!
Dude your bikes exhaust is moistening, holy shit. That's the first time i've heard a Harley I really thought sounded thicc.
Thallium RC it’s what happens when you have an exhaust made to dampen the sound of your bike instead of enhance it and it leaves a nice bass sound
It's so sweet
Thallium RC that rumble is unmatchable, thats why people get hogs. Harley sportster has engine and tranny connected. They use the same lube and can't work or swap. The "hogs" or really any big twin is belt driven. In conclusion. No rumble like a harley. I feel its sports bike or harley. Really nothing in between. I'm pretty sure id just get tored with it real easy.
Thank god i finally found a channel that vlogs rides on harleys
funny at the end. Machine mode, Lmao 😂
Sup block love the vids bro keep them coming.i just got a brand new street rod a few months back but thinking about looking for a lowrider s as it's my dream Harley just hope I don't loose to much on the street rod and the payments aren't to high on the s do you think I should look into bud thanks
Cool vid ! Defnitely truth in there, though I'd argue that on the money side of things it really heavily depends where you live, riding a bike where I live (france) gets reaaaally expensive reaaally fast.
Cars are way more fuel efficient than in the US with all the regulations we have here against air pollution.
Gas is about 1.50€/litter which is around 6.6$ a gallon, and I get slightly more MPG on my small car than on the Yam XSR700.
Also, motorcycle gear is crazy expensive here, to be decently equiped count between 800 and 1200€ (930-1400$) and that's only decent gear, not high end protection.
the insurance is also quite expensive, morse so than my car's though mostly because I am a "new" motorcycle licence owner.
Speaking of licences, it is around 800-2000€ for the basic licence depending on the number of lessons you have to take before the exam (which itself is around 100€) and that's only the base licence. If you want to ride anything above 34HP, you'll have to get another licence, which obviously also costs more money.
Not even counting the prices of bikes themselves that are on average more expensive around here (y'know taxes and stuff, licence plate owner change fee for used bikes etc...)
Though I have to agree than even with all this, it's still a blast to ride, and in the end it's worth it if you can afford it !
I saw a bunch of bikes under 6k at the dealership. That's like the magic number you can get bikes with under 1000 miles for under 6k
my dad always discoursed me for motorcycles after telling me his friend in the 80s got clipped by a old lady doing a intersection turn he says its better with less traffic
You were allover with that conversation lol . Still Guna watch though
well mw and my dad have a plan to buy a bike and both of us getting the license, and my mom want's an old vespa, so family ride to places
I only have one answer and that's because I love it.
Reason enough for me!
Why is your bike in EITMS mode? are the love jugs not working? I have a LRS and want to get the 117 kit with cams but damn this bike gets hot. Nice video man, always great to watch when mine is under a cover freezing in this 30 degree weather...
Ive wanted a motorcycle since I was really young, but my mom never approved of it and if I mentioned it she said I should save up for my funeral before I get the bike. I'm 19 now and I plan on buying an Iron 883 next March, I've just come to dislike car driving. Its so mundane and you feel so...private. Commuting isn't fun in a car, it's just part of your job. Every motorcyclist I've met enjoys each and every ride, so I'm looking forward to buying my very own.
I ride because it's exciting and it feels like you're free from all the bounds of life I realize all the consequences and drawbacks, but I'm always aware of all my surroundings Something else I'd like to mention is that I would never do a track day on a motorcycle, I'd rather to a track day on a car, such as a vintage Porsche, an opened wheeled classic like a Lotus, and there are too many more examples too list, but my point is, I can get really fast and confident on 4 wheels as opposed to 2 wheels I know I'd be a better race car driver than a racing motorcycle rider So that's it for now, hasta luego
I want to get a used Iron for around 4,000-6,000 but I'm afraid insurance will be too much as a 19 year old male living in Cali already paying $265/month for car insurance :/
My dad's lifted excursion gets like 10 mpg 😂 needless to say, we dont drive it much
How much you paying for a gallon of gas? $5 to fill up lol
Had 2 bars left, like 60 miles till empty and filled up the Low Rider S, cost me $7.50, haha
Driving in a car makes you complacent, hang on I made a wrong turn.
Dude i read your comment the same time as he said it wow
Just got this video recommended to me. Looks like Tampa Florida area? ✌
Damn it. I’m wanting an 883. Not easy to convince momma. But freedom too.
turtle19dad It's easier to beg for forgiveness than get permission. 😉
EITMS is a leg (and oil wear) saver, no doubt. Love the looks the Buel one lung lumpity idle gets me, people must wonder if the bike is about to splode or something :)
I'm thinking oil cooler or Love Jugs for my bike this upcoming summer, traffic here is The Suck, even with lane splitting. Any reason you picked Love Jugs over an oil cooler?
Definitely makes it sound much different, haha. Love Jugs are awesome man, they keep the bike cool enough from ever having to even go into EITMS! Have saved me and my leg many a time already in stop and go traffic!
Hey Block... which of your bikes is your favorite? I owned a forty eight, sold it and bought softball slim. I’m looking forward to nice long rides and love the power difference. I have, however, been toying with the idea of a sport bike for the fun of it (the forty eight was fun). Thoughts?
I've watched a few of your videos and, it makes me wanna get a bike🤔
I was really wondering for some time now how long is your lunch break, having time to go around your motorcycle and film, mine was half an hour.
As soosn and the please stand by sigh came up a commercial got me coincidence....:/
Everything is so cheap in the states. My 2004 1200 sportster custom cost me 5k€ cause i imported it from the uk. In the netherlands they cost 8k€ (at a dealership) and full tank of gas is 20€ 90€ when filling up my bmw (car)
Am i the only person that rides motorcycle for fun and to avoid busy traffic?
I am working towards a Harley Davidson street rod for my first bike
Too bad you cant lane split....life changer bro
Blockhead im from orlando im planning on joining the bike life i hope to see you on the road so we can burn some fuel
What kind of truck do you have??? It costs me almost 80 bucks to fill my 2000 Silverado 1500
lol nice MGS reference
How are your wrists after a medium length commute? Also do you find yourself more vulnerable to the sun and glare?
Gas is sooo cheap where you live! Here in Alaska it is always over $3 a gallon.
All good reasons i dont know if they do it there but here motobikes get free parking in the CBD or city cars have to pay moto bikes have free spots to park trying to get more people to use bikes to make traffic better
i like your way of speaking drivers in a car being complacent. im looking to getting a bike but im scare. maybe cause i dont know stuff
I don’t think I get a wave at all unless I’m on my cruiser.
I like those drop down mirrors. what are they called and where can I get them?
Try running your truck or bike in the UK! Easily over £100 per tank of fuel for the truck and the Dyna would be nearer £25 to fill 😂
1.23 per litre would now be 30 at least ,125 to fill my transit van
Wow man I thought $3.00 was to much
Kristian Estby swear lol I’ll shoot up a gas station if it goes over 4$
You're already touched this subject
15:00 LOL
Can anyone link the video with city driving tips? cant find it
How did u and ms blockhead get involved with riding motorcycles?
That school is right by my job
The only for me is the insurance.Any advice for a bike that is cheap on insurance?
What about lane splitting
And carpool lane???
From England I’m 21 never rode a motorcycle really thinking about it whole scene suits me I’d love a Harley as my first anyone got any advice on a first bike?
Or just any advice on where I could start on bikes I don’t really know much about them
