- Here's my review of the Honda cbr600 f. 2011 model.
. Sorry to people living in the U.S, this bike wasn't exported to you. Such a shame.
Correction The engine IS a 2007 onwards RR engine, re-tuned for bottom end torque.

Thanks for reviewing my baby!
I've got a 2012 model that's pretty much stock with no ABS. Good enough for anything legal on the road, and even took it to the track a few times. It's done superb service and is super comfortable for the commute as well. It's now nearing its 24000km service.
If you can only have one bike, this is a good one to have.
Great to have you back :) I am looking forward to get this bike as my first "big" one. For me its one of the most beautiful bikes from the design point of view.
I bought one of these beauties last year..my first bike after 10 years not riding was a BMW..to big and heavy...big mistake...so I bought one of these..same spec...absolutely fantastic machine...still makes me smile..keeping this one...
The nicest thing about reviews done by roadcraft is its like listening to your best friend review his bike. I really enjoy your uploads keep em coming :-)
Great to see a new vlog from you - I love my 600f does everything I need - welcome back :-)
Some may say it's a sheep but I think 100bhp 13k revving machine counts as a bit of a beast!
No, no it doesn't
@@declanargue4571 it does.
@@declanargue4571 You sound like one of those people who own a 1000cc but don't have the ability to use it properly

Just wanted to echo what many have said, Great to have you back uploading!! Hope there's many more to come. Personally, love your bike reviews
Cheers
clear and easy listening commentary, thanks
Thanks for posting your review! I've got one of these as my first big bike, and I am very happy with it. It is still very forgiving and thus well suited for a new biker. It is comfortable, yet it is able to deliver a lot of power when needed. I rode the 600RR too and it is a completely different experience. 600F is heavy as a pig and thus sluggish, but doing over 200 miles in a day is not a problem on it, as it has a more relaxed rising position.
@@ElCoco1984 I had a test ride of the RR one day, and then was riding my 600F back home. 600RR feels like balancing a razor blade, and 600F felt like riding a pig after that. :)
Very useful vid. I have a 2008 ER6F and am seriously considering this as my next bike. As much as I would like something more in the ZX6, CBR RR, GSX-R mould, I think this will be more comfortable, cheaper to run and insuer and will be easier for the GF as I have just convinced her to start riding pillion with me!
Great looking bike !
Bike vloggers seem to be waking up from the winter lethargy lol. Good to see you're back, I've always enjoyed watching your videos.
Thanks for sharing, the best bike I ever owned for handling was a Honda Fireblade now that i'm riding around Cyprus and to see this beautiful island scenery a cruiser is best here and a loud exhaust is a safer ride! take care and ride safe!
Good to have you back Russ. Can't wait for the vid where you rip the 'hardcore' advanced riders a part lol, Nice to have a pro on my side of the fence lol
You wait for the amount of dislikes I get from the junta ;-)
Lovely bike, I agree with you on the road positioning. Stay out to see, but turn in to stay away from potential danger at times.
That's a great little bike, I would love to have it. Honda's build quality and reliability just cannot be beat, imho- I've got two an '84 and a "new" '97, they're like new.
Looks like a brilliant bike. Always wanted to ride one, they look like the more sensible option for someone who has to do everything on their bike. The fact that it's basically a hornet only reinforces this idea. Good review Russ.
Nice to see you back in the fray Mr Russ and like the look of that RR!
Thanks Mr. C, The RR is the best dressed of any I've seen, gorgeous. Lighter nights and better weather should get us out together soon. :-)
Great to see you back Russ, looking forward to the scala-rider info.
Good review of the bike. My learner bike was a 09 hornet. Lovely and user friendly bike. My 1st bike was an 08 hannspree CBR600RR what an eye opener that was. Now got a triumph speed triple se. But I find honda have the best build quality out of the lot. I reckon the bike will be sold with in 2wks. Keep up the good work.
Welcome back bud, good as always!
I viewed one today to see how it felt. Loved it!!
Haven't seen you in a while! Great review, great to see you back in action ;)
Good to see an upload again Russ.
So, they've based that on the Hornet which was a Detuned/Modified CBR600F in the 'old' Days anyway :-)
Talk about coming full circle! But she sure looks nice!!
Thanks Alex, motivation was the problem but I'm getting there again. Surprised the hell out of me when I found out then thought "what a fantastic idea, sprucing up a commuter" :-)
imagine doing a break test when an oncoming car is overtaking on a bend. The luck!!! Excellent vid as always
Been a long time. Nice to see you back. Another good review. Keep the videos coming. I miss this channel.
Thanks :-)
Honest review as always. So jealous you get to try out so many different bikes.
Great choice in bike, Russ! I agree with everything you've said about it and I guarantee that you'll enjoy owning one. I'll be keeping an extra eye out for you now you're on a CBR.
Thanks but even though I do own this one, I won't be keeping it. I have too many as it is :-) You loved yours and did a load of miles didn't you? Keep watching though even though I'm a traitor ;-)
RoadcraftNottingham That's a shame to hear, although having too many bikes is probably the best reason to let it go. Yeah I loved mine, look at pictures of it and talk about it often. Even have a poster of one up! I did 28,000 miles in about 22 months of owning it and thought it was brilliant, just wanted a change from a Japanese bike.
Don't worry, I'll keep watching! I need to come into your shop again soon as well.
Friz020 That's good then, I still owe you two an hour's advanced riding :-)
RoadcraftNottingham No rush mate; whenever you've got the time :)
great review Russ and very quiet, lucky with the car overtaking and great that your back.
Thanks Alan. Situations like that are rarely a problem to me as I anticipate as much as poss and follow that rule about stopping in the distance I see to be clear. Nice to be back matey
Best bike vids on the web.
Great to see a new upload! Looking forward to more training videos !
I agree with Blahdeblah52, it's good to have you back uploading again :-)
I have a friend who has the Hornet and swears by it's reliability.
This would be a good alternative by the sound of it :-)
Thanks for the upload. Ride safe :-)
Thank you :-) Great bike
You're welcome :-)
Best Bike I have ever owed and I've had a few.
awesome review! I just have a doubt, I am 6ft tall and I wonder if you think it would feel a little bit on the small side for me? I know that compared to a RR it has a more upright sitting position.
Interesting to see your take on positioning,i did the iam course but not the test(just not my scene man),however i do tend to ride the advanced way,i tend to keep right for the left handers as my view is that i will see any oncoming traffic earlier and have the opportunity to countersteer out of any danger, but as i said looking forward to your views.
nice to see u back mate
On the topic of the left handers - I've often have conflicted opinions on this myself - On the one hand you're more visible and can see round better, but on the other hand you put yourself in a vulnerable position. One might argue that if you were more to the right of your lane coming up to the corner, the car would've seen you and not overtook - But lets be honest, most drivers are idiots.
Good to see you back mate, that does indeed look like a quality bike, I've always wanted to test a Hornet, but hell.. I'm thinking of just testing one of those when I can! Hope to see more videos from you soon.
I hate that we have the cbr650f but not the 600f... subtle differences in the styling make the 600f so much more prettier. not to mention the extra power it gets!!
that 600rr leyla is my favorite bike ever, will be getting one soon, they look amazing
When you look closely at the graphics, the detail is astounding
It's even better in the flesh. The white paint is pearlescent and amazing attention to detail. It is simply stunning.
0:58 .. and the Hornet DOES have a detuned RR engine. :)
Hope you are now intending to post more videos, Ive enjoyed watching them all.
Awesome, New Videos!!! Loved the review! and looking forward to the new vids!
Great to see you back Russ. When it came to buying my new bike in 2012, I had narrowed it down to this bike and a Street Triple. Common sense and "dream bike" thoughts prevailed fortunately and I bought the Triumph but I did come close to putting a signature down for a black CBR. Not quire sure why Honda went with the Hornet base when they had the chance to really work hard on a new version. Sort of seems half arsed really.
I see the sense in what they did to be honest, it's a lovely step up whilst keeping their costs down in a difficult financial climate. I get the feeling you made the right decision (without considering wind protection) :-)
Well at least the US gets the new CBR650F. However that class of bike doesn't do very well over here for some crazy reason. I have a Suzuki GSX650F and I think it's a brilliant bike, but it only lasted one or two years over here and they pulled the plug on that one too.
I wish Honda the best of luck with their 650.
I really like CBR650F and Triumph Street Triple R. Thanks for the upload.
Looked at a hornet the other year but got let down with that. Looks and sounds a nice machine Russ. As always amigo an excellent review and a great vid for potential buyers
Thanks Dave, hopefully this'll help people decide. :-)
Hi Russ, good to have you back is Lins doing any more videos, and have you seen the new schuberth c3 pro, seems to have improved on a very good helmet.
Linz (#bikerchickvids to those who don't know) will be doing a review of it. I haven't tried the C3 pro but will consider it when in the market for a new lid.
I have just bought one of these after selling my street triple last year. My first ride I felt disappointed and that it felt like a learner bike compared, but the more I ride it on the road I like it. You can have fun onit and not be doing crazy speeds I think with these the more you ride you realise they are just fun.
Yes, I'd rather ride a smaller bike closer to its ability than risk my licence and safety on something I'll never get the best out of.
Really nice review! I’m torn between the CBR600F or an actual CB600F Hornet 2007 onwards as my first bike. I’m steering towards the CBR600F mainly due to the looks - either way I’ll be happy with my first bike :). Keep up the awesome vids!
Nice video, ta. I believe you meant a Wolf in Sheep's clothing thou. 👍
carlinhos1307.... Nope, it's a pussycat that looks aggressive, hence sheep in wolf's clothing. ☺
RoadcraftNottingham LOL 😎 just making sure so I won't buy it. Cheers
great review, glad you're back
Cheers buddy
Nice to have you back! Just a question: is it a comfy bike? My back is not as good as it used to be...
Love how it turns into a driving lesson lol. Good to see another vid.
I just can't let it go can I? lol
Passed my test yesterday and this is my first bike! Cant wait to get some mileage stuck on it!
Congratulations. Have fun and be safe. ☺
Cheers mate you too!
He is back.
I ride a 1988 CBR600FH, which is basically the same sort of bike. Mine has carbies of course, but is similarly tractable and agreeable. Honda were wise to recreate the original CBR in modern form... :-)
I'm thinking about grabbing one of these that's for sale in my area. Seems like exactly what I'm looking for. I don't HAVE to have to extra torque that RR offers (it's nice though)
Love the Layla but considering the F at the moment
Great vid mate! Gd to see you back :)
Thanks :-)
Finally my online mentor is back ;)
i look forward to the review on the headsets and the talk about lane positioning. I just ride where i see fit. sometimes it just depends on the condition of the road. sometimes there is no one best answer to lane positioning but rather it's a judgement call
Nicely put :-)
The best thing about this bike is that no-one wants to steal it. I had mine pinched a few months ago and it basically got returned to me... I think the dozy thieves must have mistaken it for a GSXR or something.
I always say the "f" stands for "fake" - it's pretending to be a CBR but it's really not. Still good fun to ride.
The problem I have with this is that it has the same insurance as the F4i but the F4i is overall a more exciting bike while still being rather forgiving.
idk what honda knows, but they make the best feeling gearboxes in the world. period. cars or bikes. their k series motors with 6 speed manuals in their cars are absolutely lovely
As a first bike which is a better bet, this Honda or a Triumph Street triple?
got rid off your diavel you mad but still good vlog nice to see you back
I feel I should add . The Honda hornet engine is a retuned honda 600 RR engine
we got a 650 version this year :) gr8t review!
Opener it up in 2nd and still had the whole powerband to play with to the limiter in 2nd... has a lot more to give I think
Nice one. Is the suspension set up more for quick or slow riding as standard? Hard or soft?
Man those English number plates for motorbikes always crack me up... huge things! The ones in Australia are well less than half the size of those things.
Actually pc41 engine (both hornet and CBR) comes from the 2007 CBR rr
good video - are the bars as low as a fire blade ..? or is it a bit more upright to suit touring/commuting/comfort ... I can't find one in local bike shops here in Ireland to sit on...
Great vid Russ. How does it compare with the 90's era (carburetted) CBR600Fs?
Re the oncoming car, one can argue that being more towards the centreline means the oncoming car would see you sooner; plus, you would have time to move to the left side of the road in such a case anyhow (at any sensible speed).
Honda doesn't like us in the US. They also dont export the CB1300S to us.
Nice to see a new video, thanks!
Aren't you getting the new CBR650F? That's replacing the CBR600F.
PyroSA
That does look like a nice bike too. I didnt know that was coming to US.
Great looking bikes! Ride them safe!
Hi Russ.....love your videos. I'm sitting my Mod 2 soon and I've had the new CBR650F in my head for a while as my first bike and Honda have some good PCP deals on right now. At 6ft 2" I like the riding position which feels upright for a sporty looking bike. Came across your video here which interests me as I never considered the 600 as a first bike and being an older bike may be slightly better on the finances. So my question is having not sat on one of these would it be suitable for me as a taller rider ?. Cheers
That second gen 600 r.r is the best 600 cc Honda ever made
Really thinking about one of these for my first big bike 😎😎🏍
You'll love it
I used to have this bike. I was actually faster on it than on the Daytona because it's so easy to ride.
It IS easy isn't it. Lovely
It's a great bike, I miss it!
Good looking bike. I wish my speed triple was smoother. With regards to cornering I am doing IAM at the moment and as you said in your video, they teach you to position yourself close to the center of the road while doing a left bend. I too am not too sure about this because as you showed some idiot could spill over to your lane and hit you...on the other hand however if you do not stay in that 'advanced riding' position, there could be mud or gravel in the center of your lane which could make you fall. Guess you are going to talk about this in your next video then? Look forward to it, thanks.
Lovely ridealong!
What an elegant bike
Would you recommend this as a first bike?
Silus Jackson absolutely fucking not.... is to strong for a beginner
@@Andi45677 lol
@@Andi45677 😂😂😂
@@Andi45677 this is my first bike mate
If it wasn't for the ABS on my Yamaha XJ6F I would have crashed 4 or 5 times already. It's a real life saver for me.
I have the CBR 250R ABS and my restricted licence is up in september. I have been considering this CBR 600f from weeks before I passed and now time is getting closer I am swaying towards 600rr in this video only because I plan on keeping the 250.
Thoughts?
I think the engine *is* a detuned CBR600RR engine. That's definitely the case with the new Hornet, so whether or not Honda have plonked it in the CBR600F, I don't know.
Great review Russ.
Thanks
The cbr f was always the good all-rounder in between?
Not really comparable to the rr is it?
Would have been better reviewing it or comparing it to the earlier f model to see if it was still as good? Not the rr which is a totally different bike breed and design ethos
Hello sir, great review! Pls I have a question. I'm 190 cm(cca 6 foot 3 inches) and I'm highly considering buying this baby, do you reckon it'll fit me well? And also - would you recommend this as a first real bike?
very very good. learnt alot thanks
Gday Russ, great video as usual.
I have a noob question about what you said at 9.19, my mate (who has ridden for 30+ years) tells me similar to what you said about cornering, however I was taught (through the licence scheme) to start wide and finish tight. I think they teach this so we can see situations earlier and also 'be' seen earlier.
My question is what have the experienced riders learned that contradicts what us younger riders are being taught
I think it's just that when we're younger we take info in without question. Experience teaches us that everything that's written isn't necessarily so. Question everything
Ok when I said 9.19 I meant 7.50, not the end of the bloody video lol.
Ok now that ive pointed out my stupidity lol ill say thank you for your reply and I look forward to your next video
Arw the clips ons cbr clip ons or are thet raised a bit like vfr?
I had the CB500F - the CBR so tasty.
Is it comfortable? Have you been touring with it? Beautiful bike!! Cheers
Thorough review - very usefull. Good to see you (and Linz) back on the tubes :-)
Oh man - Wifey and I got a lot from your vanishing point vid and have been having that discussion recently about not always staying out on left-handers. If there is limited view then the risk of some idiot appearing on your side of the road is too high, we simply have to slow down and stay in.
Ride safe you both :-)
Pleased to know I'm helping. The key word on the staying out comment is certainly "always" Sometimes it's very helpful. Working on my upload but it's complicated to arrange.
We have the cbr650F naked or full fairing in the US now...essentially the same bike
not the same bike cbr650 has budget suspension less power ,heavier, steel frame,
Question from learner...I never put my duke 125 in 6th unless I am doing about 50. Should I use top more? When it had done less than 600 miles it roared at me if I tried to change to top too early.
Nice bike and review, is it a more upright riding position than the RR?
Yes, more upright than an RR, but not as upright as a Hornet.
