About Sam Ryder
In 2020, as the world went into lockdown, Sam Ryder uploaded the first of his now infamous covers that quickly caught the attention of some famous fans (think Elton John) with compilations appearing on The Ellen Show & BBC's Newsbeat. As the content kept coming, so did the fans, amassing 10 million on socials by the end of the year. Fast forward to 2021 and Sam was crowned as TikTok's most popular UK artist account for the second year in a row.
In 2021, Sam released his 5-song EP 'The Sun's Gonna Rise' including track 'Whirlwind' that describes Sam’s journey - spending much of his adult life writing and performing in bands, living in Hawaii and owning a vegan coffee shop; before he decided to pursue his dream of becoming a solo artist.
Sam's first show in London sold out in under 10 minutes, nearly as quickly as his first full UK tour. Ready to make his first live foray into Europe and beyond, world domination in 2022 might not be a stretch too far for this incredible talent.

Sam is like no other singer, or combination of singers. His dynamics, phrasing, vocal nuances, and emotional energy is focused as sharply as a diamond. He is softer than a feather and as powerful as a tiny riot!! Sam needs to be recognized as a musican in every facet! No comparison. Sam is the comparison.

There is so much LIFE in him and his performance, he's even singing the sound effects and nailing each and every one. His voice and his passion is refreshing!
We need artists like this. Who become the words they're singing in the mind, body, and soul. He is the music, and the music is him! I’ve loved music from way back. The most moving show I ever went to was to see a group just getting started to fame- “ The Who”. Saw them at the Filmore East in the east village in Manhattan. The music they played was “ Tommy”. I’ve never felt moved like that again till Freddy Mercury. And now- Sam Ryder. I’ve been listening to his videos for 2 days now. I’ve never been more addicted to a vocalist. That says a lot! Magnificent!! I want to see him live in concert SO BAD😄

I know what you mean, it's a blinding song & his voice is SO powerful man...!! But he couldn't of entered it into Eurovision as it came out too long ago & wouldn't fit the Eurovision rules which state:
"song (maximum 3 minutes, not released before)" & more specifically
"The songs (lyrics and music compositions) submitted to represent each Participating Broadcaster's country in the ESC must be original and must not have been released and/or publicly performed in part or in full before the Release Date."
I think I heard the "release date" mentioned in the rules was last September.. though since countries' broadcasters seemed to of selected their entries this year, maybe the "release date" is even shorter. Though, it's not as short as it used to be, as it's definitely a lot longer than the rules used to be. Some years ago no song could be entered that was released/selected until only 3 WEEKS before each Eurovision! But they changed this rule a number of times over the years, especially since the development of social media.)
Hope you all enjoy tonight's Eurovision final. There's lots of great entries with a good variety of styles, which is great. But I can't wait to see Sam Ryder perform (possibly the only British entry I've ever, not only liked, but loved, & it feels like a real privilege to have him represent the UK.), & from what I saw of some poor quality videos of the rehearsals, Sam looks cool as feck, with great staging (hopefully the cameras/recording will do it all justice), as he really brings it to the Big Stage.. Sam shows what a talented guitar player he is as well as a phenomenal singer, when he showboats playing guitar near the end of the song & he really rocks it man....!!🤘🏽🤩🤘🏼🥳
