Love the new top dampener! Better than the OG Akorn...So stoked to get it, review it and put out content.
very Nice
I already added that to mine last year so I can get some sleep during those 12 hr brisket's.
Where did you find one?
@@barrywilliams606 I ordered the Maverick probe for monitoring meat temps and a Bar B Cube temp controller, makes those overnight smokes a breeze now.
how many pounds was the brisket, that you put on there?
@@dbz24 17.
Game Changer
I'm getting to know my Akorn Auto (nicknamed Otto) but have a question. As long as I have a good cover is it okay to keep it outside? I live in Virginia where it can get very, very cold but it doesn't all that often. Will the elements (temperature, humidity, etc.) adversely affect Otto even under a good cover? Thanks!
I've really been enjoying my Akorn Auto-Kamado, my only complaints about it are, I think that the top damper suggestions are too aggressive, the fan stop function takes to long to come back on, and the WiFi on the app doesn't seem to work, it doesn't really connect to WiFi and when I get too far away (out of Bluetooth range) it stops updating but says its still connected.
Seems to have temperature swings. Set mine up for 350 to season the grates. Fan stopped blowing when it reached 350, but the temp kept rising. Went up as high as 415 degrees F.
Yeah, Tom Horsman on CZcams reviewed this grill and said the suggested damper settings may need to be adjusted based on your cook temp. I think he said on his findings that the damper had to be set a little less than the suggested setting otherwise temps would overshoot.
Question is….. because I love both my Acorn grill and Jr…. But since I use lump charcoal as recommended, if I use a whole regular sized chimney, can it still get at a temperature to 225 degrees Fahrenheit, instead of a high temperature, or should I just use less charcoal, without having to refill??
I believe now you wouldn't use the chimney. You would now fill the Kamado with charcoal and use the fire starter or like me I use a butane torch to light up my charcoal. Once the charcoal is lit close it, set your desired temperature and wait till it reaches that temperature and then start smoking your meat or grill.
If it’s windy your screwed trying to start the fire, and the temp probe 🤦♂️
Error codes on my brand new auto kamado😢cannot enjoy mine
Worst grill I’ve ever owned. 3rd coolk and I got an ERP code. Can’t do anything without that temp prob working. I’ll never buy Char-Griller again.
