The French Char 2C Bis heavy tank was an unexpected addition to the latest War Thunder update. Although it is quite slow, it is still a very powerful premium vehicle, featuring a massive 155mm cannon with a decent reload rate. I don't know for sure if it is overpowered, but it is certainly strong. Now we just have to wait for Gaijin to add the base version.

For anyone wondering yes, this thing is very effective at top tier. I’ve seen a 2C bis eat 12-15 105mm Rounds simply because it has no armor and half a French platoon inside
Well that is because as we all know, no armor is the best armor.
This thing is the god mode grinder
A platoon is 20-50 troops, so this is legitimately accurate.

was on a russia map (mozhysk or something like that) and there was 3 2c bis tanks on our team (I being one of them) we formed a flying wedge and slowly but surely pushed the enemy cap and won the match (the rest of our team providing flank guard and repair support) felt like we were made to lead the [land]navy into war...

This tank has so much explosive material in every shell at so low BR, that it can visibly destroy everything with just one shot.
The last couple updates have been: "there's no way they can add *blank* to the game, it could never be balanced" .... "oh they added it"

i was against one in a match at 6.7 the other day: it melted my team
I saw one go up against some starter tanks, burned through the entire team and slowly approached our spawn
I just started this month. Stuck at the bottom of the tech tree (rip lol). I had two guys playing this tank in squad together at low tier the other day. They sat camping in the only capture point wiping anything that poked its head out of cover until someone finally bombed them.
Just saw someone bringing this monster to 7.3 and get 3 kills with it. Literally everyone struggled to kill it because at this BR everyone uses APDS so it takes multiple round to kill each crew members, unlike APHE which can one shot anything.
Yup and no matter what the tier almost 8kg of explosive mass in a 42kg package dropping on your head is going to ruin your day.
It has a rather slow shell so VERY parabolic (aka it arches high) so it make hitting all that soft thin armor up top easy.

@@nil981 My T-54 (1949) doesn't have HEAT round, only APDS and APHE. I didn't use APHE because it was a full uptier so I thought APDS is more reliable to use. 3 shots and that mf still didn't die, finally someone lands a final blow and grants me an assist.

I like that it's a 40 foot long tank with an trench crossing thing on the back... for all those 45 foot trenches.
The tank was also conceived for crossing canals, which are numerous in the region near the french/belgian/german border. Because like the Maus no bridge would support it's weight...

@@jordansmith4040 Well the "trench crossing thing" don't always appear in archives pictures, so they were certainly optional. But the devs had the possibility to make the tank even longer so they put it :p
I enjoy it when Gaijin actually takes the time to add some whack WW2 vehicles instead of modern nonsense all the time, its quite refreshing.

I once joined a match and three other 2C’s spawned in at the same time as me. For a brief few minutes, the 2C Bis Convoy terrorized the Poland map.
I’ve since come to call the 2C Bis “The Iron Wall.”
It is cruel for gods to come down and fight mortal men like that.

Plus there are 20’s tanks that haven’t been introduced that can work in 1.0 like the Vickers mk E(on which the t-26 is based/copied from)
the 2c has natural camouflage. how camouflage breaks up your shape with the background the 2c is so large it becomes the background

I haven’t played war thunder in several weeks. I played again a couple days ago. The enemy team had 4 of these things. Not good when you are in a BT and didn’t even know this thing was in the game

This is what I like seeing. More tanks from their early history rather than more MBTs that function exactly the same. It's basically old tanks have character while modern tanks are just MBT built by X Country.

crocodile is bugged rn, ive been reliably penning the roof slant with nearly anything; killed 4 of them with brummbar HE and i was able to disable one with M4A5 (6pdr) sid shot shrapnel.
I hit one of these with the KV2 APHE and I was very disappointed when it didn't implode cause those guys in the back are so far away their mid battle baguette break wasn't interrupted😂

Carry one or two HE, get it on the high smoke stack thing in the middle. I am an anti concrete shell enjoyer, but never throw away HE.
If you enjoyed the HE shell I recommend taking the 155mm Sturm panzer up to like 8.3 it’s a blast

3:04 In their defense, I have mistaken a 2C for a building before. Especially in tight spaces it is hard to separate from the damaged buildings around it as its silhouette is just so different from normal tanks.
I just recently confronted this tank in a game, and it was both frustrating to kill and terrifying to fight against, considering it has "strong" armor and has half a platoon as a tank crew. Definitely OP if used correctly
Hey, I'm not sure if you know this, but I saw you scrolling hard to get the distance correction back down. There is a key bind in there that you can set to reset the distance control back to normal so you don't need to scroll all the way back. Btw love your content!

Gaijin showed the IJN Fuso on the F-14 patch video but it only came in the following update. So I recon the 75mm char will be similar.
@@sargesacker2599 , I can understand that Gaijin needed more time to add an big battleship into the game, but in this case they only have to put another gun and turret on the chassis, which already exists.
Its actually crazy how this thing is just 0.4br higher than the Ho-ri, even though its got a slightly stronger derp gun, no open-top, and 12 crew, the speed sucks sure but with these derp guns you don’t really need speed since you can hide behind a hill and just use indirect fire(hell the Ho-ri is probably too OP at 1.3 itself, way too easy to consistently get 5+ kills a game, especially on maps where it can use indirect fire to maximum effect, though the opentop really does balance it out a lot)
The Ho-Ro is a 1944 design when the 2C is a 1926 design though.

You honestly don't see too many of them and it not THAT hard to kill them as there are definite weak spots like on the turret itself which can in theory take out like half the crew with one shot. Plus the ammo is stored on the left and right sides in the front and almost everyone carries full ammo as it only carries 24 rounds.
Dude, its like saying Chi-Ha long gun is op. Or T-35 is op. Or even a fucking Kv-2 is op. New players are just so bad, that you can get like 30 kills in rb with no effort.
We could also let new players start at any BR they want, or perhaps era, so 3.3-4.0 and maybe also 7.0 for modern stuff.

I use the mouse wheel for small gun adjustments, keyboard up/down arrows for big ones, and I push the wheel down to reset the elevation.
I need small adjustments for tanks like the Obj 120, and big ones for the AVRE for example.
I'd love to see a video on the Chinese WMA301. It's got Gen 2 Thermals, APFSDS, Dual-Tandem ATGMs, Proxy HE, Laser Rangefinder. All at a very reasonable 8.3 BR

In terms of maps, we are opposites. I played like 20 matches yesterday, and no joke, 14 of them were Golden Quarry.
That must have been hell, I got it for the first time 3days ago and it was rage educing because all the destructibles kept popping back instantly so it made HEAT shells useless and everything made you jitter and rattle like hell due to the fact that it kept popping up under/inside you.
I have played that new valley map ONCE so far after 3 days of grind

Seriously most maps are utter trash or only fun at certain BRs. Have had Kursk banned for the longest time because spending half an hour crossing the map in a heavy tank only to be shot from the other side of the map is...a little infuriating

Some time ago I had a legendary duel with a 2C bis on my P40. One of the peak highlights in my time playing this game.

In the theme of french HE, I find the 120mm on the Foch and AMX 50 quite strong with around 4Kg of TNT equivalent, it can kill a lot through the cupola or even through direct hit, with a 6 second reload it's a really funny way to play.
Everytime that things hits a target I hear the scout saying "Bonk!"

Was playing the tree version of this. It's hilarious when a tiny tank pulls up beside it. According to wiki " It was, in total volume or physical dimensions, the largest operational tank ever made". I saw a great tank museum video about a tank (I'm sure it was this one) and you can literally walk into the engine compartment and walk around it like you are in the engine room of a cruise liner or something. IT should have a pool and tennis court on top.

I like how it was designed to have a giant skid on the back to help with crossing trenches. Trenches that if they were actually so wide as to require said skid, would be nothing more than artillery round traps.
It’s less for trenches and more for rivers at this point.

Best to turn on behemoth is on neutral pose. I mean, on spot. Just press A or D. The move forward just slowing it when turning
Genuinely, the amx 30 (1972) could be very good fun for you. Good speed, good gun and a potent 20 mm coax. You could enjoy it
As someone who mains France (yes, I love being tortured every time I open up this game) I use the 2c bis to basically serve as mobile cover for my teammates. I don't bother carrying more than like 20 rounds I just drive around, help repair, and block enemy shots

Ive been playing this thing a ton since it first dropped and its a blast. I recommend bringing this thing up a couple br's. Ive been bringing it out to 5.3 and it absolutely destroys. Never had so much fun with a rank 1 tank
Have you tried the Bkan 1C? If you haven't, I recommend trying it. It can overpressure most things you see, the autoloader is insane, and it has some actual speed to it.
when I saw this I though it was just a bigger version of that japanese thing but I'm glad I was on the same team as that guy because I believe was on an italian tank at that time in winter Poland too
thank god i have tank cruise controls binded, just put the tank all forward like a ship and you can have relaxing gameplay like Naval as France before the french navy comes to the game

Really useful for just quickly setting a low cruise speed so you can keep moving and not have the gun jumping all over the place pre-stabilizers.
Oh, I hope the 75mm version comes to the tech tree and the up armored 75mm as a battle pass or event vehicle.

The Char 2c has perfect camouflage. Enemy tankers are looking for tank sized/shaped targets, not houses.
I liked this tank before it was even in WT.
Though I did not know about this variant with this turret until it was revealed in the files.
Killed one of these recently by amo racking it with an L3. One of the proudest moments of my War Thunder Career.
Enemy infantry cease to exist, enemy vehicles become convertables, aircraft have to deal with what's effectively a shotgun firing slugs at them... Perfect.
