Don’t post rubbish. In the last 3 major tournaments he has reached a semi final (WC2018), a final (Euros21) and a quarter final (WC2022). Englands most successful manager for a very long time. Yes he doesn’t get everything right but he does get a lot right as is highlighted by the above placings
@GerMUFC1996 England got that far in those tournaments despite having Gareth not because of him. He is tactically inept and completely out of his depth. He doesn't know what hes doing!!. Anyone still defending Southgate either doesn't understand football or is blind. I’m baffled by that comment related to the fitness of the players and being ‘compact’ all sounds very fearful and defensive to me…and it shows in the past 3 performances which simply haven’t been acceptable for the quality of players on the pitch…high press is key and aggression why is Southgate so limp!? He’s wasting talent here…playing them at 65-70% of their full power - WHY!?
Danish here. We haven't played well for a while - we have been lacking control in games, and creativity... England made us look better than in the last 12-18 months. Southgate really don't get the best out of his players.... On the other hand, cudos to our players. Højbjerg did really well, as did Hjulmand and several others.
He uses the word 'we'.. What a plum no accountability for his none existent tactics. Uses Trent in midfield, he is such a plonker

Unfortunately he has trainied all of the flare out of the players. Everything has to be a "process" and when it goes out of his "process" the players are clueless. We just cannot score enough goals in open play. Should really have a mentality like the Brazilians, if you score 3 we will score 4!! Too many players in the wromg positon. Chuck the tactics out the window and just tell them to go and play we may get more joy. The last 16 will be as far as we go come up against a decent team and we are shagged.
Lets face it the players just aren't good enough. Tactically we were poor but we could barely string basic passes together, thats not down to the manager.

That’s basically 3 out of 4 quarters played where we have been dreadful. Tell tale signs there before as we were equally as bad against Iceland, and also the game prior to that, whilst we won it the performance was bad. I think he’s missed a trick not taking grealish and rashford no point in shaw, wharton, Gordon been there
Not sure on what evidence or why they hired this guy as England manager. Seems to be oblivious to what everyone else can see is wrong with the team. I get he wants to do his own thing, but at least listen. Playing Trent for 2 games is /facepalm
TAA works in midfield if there is runners to pass the ball to. Only Bellingham made runs in behind. U can't take TAA off and bring on Watkins, the two changes contradict eachother. No runner in behind on the left, Trippier no treat down the left and means Foden has to drop deep because both full back and winger can double up on him. Kane doesn't run behind so no pass there for TAA Saka wants it to feet then to turn and run at the fullback. Don't play a 'passer' in midfield without anyone for him to pass to. Got to have options to make TAA selection viable and to make sense. Don't blame anyone. Injuries on the left and good pressure from opposing teams is the problem. We bring the pressure on ourselves because we don't have out balls or runners in behind. TAA will be dropped for the next game and may not play again in the tournament but won't be of his making

We are not on the front foot after the opposition score, is this what happens when we have a defender as a coach, sit back and defend the 1 goal lead and invite the pressure from the opposition.
