    I have an upcoming kindergartener as well. We have a very similar philosophy. I use Primer for math and ACE to teach letter sounds, calendar, manners, community, simple social studies and crafts. There is no pressure to read or write yet.

      Yes! Kindergarten is definitely still more play based 😊

    Very helpful, thank you. I’m homeschooling my only child. He’s in Kindergarten, he’s 5 1/2. I wanted to make sure he’s on track and I do feel like I am after watching this. Thank you.

    Thank you so much for this video because I’ve been down a rabbit hole of different curriculum to what to buy for my newly kindergarten. She’s my only child so I just wanna make sure I’m doing it correctly I guess I would say, I am so nervous I’ll make her behind and I know I shouldn’t look at it that way, but anywho thank you so much for this video because I was just about to drop over $800 on one specific curriculum and now that I watch this it’s like it doesn’t need to be “School “ and I don’t need all those materials for kindergarten so thank you for this video. It definitely opened up another door that kindergarten doesn’t have to be a whole bunch of things and something so simple like this so helpful. thank you so much. she is level one in math so we use Abeka and and we have the exact readers for this year!! Along with using ordinary parent guide teach your child to read and we use those books as well. We also just read a ton on Pete the cat books, poem books, rhyming books, we love Jack Hartman on CZcams , and read with Molly, as well as brain tv and kids tv one two 3! we use D Nealian handwriting :) we are just focus on reading, writing and math! So just lots of read alouds, and CZcams videos on letter sounds/ and cvc words! We also just do unit studies out of master books for science (: as well just pulling things from all over sources to make science up for whatever we want to learn! My daughter Bible we will read a page pick a verse out and remember it for the day. And write it on the board. As well as color a picture out of our Bible activity workbooks(: and in morning we will say prayer, as well at night and then morning we will also do calendar and sing out days if the week and go over the days, as well as month, weather ect. So much stuff to learn so definitely don’t need so much “ curriculum “ items. Thank uuu so much for this definitely opened my eyes a bunch that I do NoT need a 800+ curriculum not now anyways lol.

    I have got most of the same stuff for my almost 5-year-old(Oct). I have 4 kids, but this is my first year doing preschool. I also have Foundations Phonics from Masterbooks bc my almost 7-year-old(tomorrow) was using it. I am using Math with Confidence for my younger 2 bc I have heard such good things about it. I will be watching to see how you use all of this with Wesley.

    I’m really interested in that Primer book. We’re currently using TGTB and it’s just not enough for my 5 year old. I searched it and I can’t find it spiral bound like yours. So bummed!
    Also - I hated 100 easy lessons. We used Hooked on Phonics level 3 & 4 from Amazon. It’s the same concept just a lot more user friendly.

    So my son is only 14 months. I'm extremely excited to get to homeschool. I'm also a working mom and I get to take my son to work with me. So school will just be one more little thing. And the BENEFITS?!?! It's a no brainer.

    Hi Julie. My child turned 5 last week. I am beginning kindergarten at home with him now. Ive been home w/him since day 1 so I just informally taught him whatever crossed my mind. So, he can read, identify and write capital and lowercase letters, consonants and vowels. He can count to 100 in english and 1-20 in spanish, french and german. He can do basic addition, subtraction and small multiplication. With that being said, I kind of feel like I need some guidance on what else I need to do with him for proper kindergarten curriculum. I just feel like I'm not sure ive got it all down as of yet .

      Sounds like you're doing great! Plus, if he's able to do all that already he's definitely advanced for his age.

    Are there topics your worried about teaching as your children get older? Ie trigonometry, calculus, etc?

    • @mamatofive1
      @mamatofive1  Před rokem +3

      My older kids do math on an app with free tutoring available, so that works well for the higher math levels. We can outsource when we need it as the years go on! 😊

      Try the humongous book of calculus, it contains trigonometry. The company has different levels. It shows every step and every answers on the same page. I used the books in summer before school. It is a good review for parents. LESS than $15.00

    I plan on using MUS Primer, Mathseeds (supplement/fun), Get Ready, Get Set, Go for the Code, Little Learners on CZcams, TinkerActive Science workbook, DK Geography workbook, Language Learners Español on CZcams, Little Einsteins as a base for music, How to Teach Art to Children, and Read Alouds.
