- We're finally back to California and no matter how hard I try, these videos get longer and longer.
This video covers 3 years but we see Fantasyland transform into the Fantasyland we know and love today, the first Disneyland attraction to get a holiday overlay and Disneyland turns 30 with the help of the Hoff and another Osmond.
I was born in 1985, towards the end of this period!
Me too!!
The person that did mickey's voice at 19:56 was The Voice of Disney, The Late Jack Wagner as he did the characters voices in the parks until the late 80's-early 90's
Interesting, Allwine did voice Mickey in "Mickey's Christmas Carol", which was released at Christmas of 1983.
@@michaelharrington4503 Yeah
@@michaelharrington4503 yesh it wasn't until the late 1980's that the company decided that each character should have the same voice in as many projects as possible. I think Eisner wanted it that way.
The New Fantasyland was the rebirth of the dark ride AND the creation of the first IP areas. Pinoc had a ride, Geppettos and Village Inn (Haus). Alice had TWO rides and The Mad Hatter.
It's looks like new day away magic Disneyland Disney company class starts at VIP tickets tour guide Legends of view of Mr Disney own life story ture life Disney group chat 1953 Walt Disney footsteps tour magic of the world part time and make Disney channel TV show on doing live action movie made into making movie
I find this whole era fascinating as I was only a child then..... OK....first....here and in multiple accounts they say attendance was down for 4yrs, but you had New Fantasyland and the Annual Reports say otherwise. So someone is not telling the truth. The 30th, more so than the 25th, really felt like DL and DL management were realizing the importance of DL to the industry, SoCal culture and the world. Miller, as we now know, got a bad rap and some ppl credit Eisner with Touchstone and Splash which was not the case....
Magic Journeys had some of the best 3-D I ever saw--and that remains true 40 years later.
Nice retro, brought back good memories! Wonders of China (from Epcot) also played in the CircleVision theater at certain times of the day. And Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln was upgraded with Sarcos robotics technology. I read that it reopened in late '84, though I first noticed it in mid-'85. Anyway, nice presentation!
Maybe this is too minor to have been included in the presentation, but a Return to Oz segment was added to the Electrical Parade in summer '85. (There are pix of it online.) I'm mad at myself for missing it! I was at the park a few times that summer but skipped the Electrical Parade, having seen it countless times. Had I known there was a Return to Oz float, seeing it would've been my top priority!
Back when Disney was still great!
RIP
