Here's the reality... ALL PRO SPORTS TEAMS DO THIS. For whatever reason, Im sure there is one, they are nailing Snyder for it. They want him out - for reasons other than this.
@@nicholasmartin7764 teams do a 60/40 (home/away) split on ticket revenue. So it is conceivable that the Skins were hiding 40% of the revenue. Which would have cost away teams appx 16% of that 40%.
Im gonna guess that there is a semantics issue.
Luxury boxes do not count as "ticket sales" that must be shared.
Snyder probably designated some general seating as "luxury" in order to skirt sharing and that is where the issue is.
From the NFL is different from the IRS. Hiding from the IRS is a for sure way to loose.
Revenue is not profit. Revenue is completely different. Revenue is money generated, and there may or may not be a small profit from that revenue. For example, a company may bring in 200 million in revenue, but usually only 5 or 10% of that will be profit. Everything gets paid for with the revenue, from salaries, all expenses, legal fees etc. What is left is the profit, and if nothing is left it means you are in the hole. On a good year a company will be lucky to do 10% profit, and a company would be super lucky to make 20% in profits. There are not many companies bringing in a billion in revenue per year that is making 200 million in profits per year. A company bringing in a billion in revenue is lucky to make a 100 million in profits. Here is an easy explanation, all teams combined brought in 12.2 billion, which gets split evenly between all teams. That equals around $381 million per team. With that 381 million they have to pay for everything, all the players salaries, staff salaries, expenses, legal fees, medical fees etc, and what is left is the profit. If they are lucky they may have 50 million left over after taxes and all expenses. Here is the part that makes them rich, is if they have a decade where they are getting 10% or more in profits, because a decade of 10% or more in profits can give you a half a billion in combined profits. That is how wealth is gained, it is gained over time. 30 to 50 million in profits may not sound so good when revenue is in the hundreds of millions, but when you are doing that every year for a decade you get very rich. Then whats makes it even better is when you can make good profits every year, you can sell the team or company for a profit. If you bought a team for a couple hundred million in the 90s, made back that money you spent buying the team plus a couple hundred million in profits, and you can now sell it for a billion and a half, that is a great investment.

- absolute exposure of a horrible stadium with broken pipes, awful protection regarding fences, a horrible field in general with a horrible traffic and parking situation around it
- awfully bad accounting
- hiding 40% (!) revenues from the NFL

It’s still hasn’t been proven. Dan is a terrible owner but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt because this is such a crazy ass story. It’s kind of hard to wrap my mind how stupid one person could be to do this if it’s true

If it’s true, it could be anywhere from 1-39. Still bad, but a lot easier to hide than profits from nearly half of your ticket sales

I work for a fortune 500 company in the Risk Management department. It sounds like the NFL does not require teams to submit audited financials to calculate revenue share. Our company requires audited financials to ensure our dealers are operating responsibly.. This may be something the NFL could require owners in their franchise contracts similar to what we do with our dealers.

I workedfor a large shipping company, and an nfl owners son would ship out a ton of tickets on the regular and was always weird about it and at 1st lied about the contents, so i suspect this is common practice

Meaning that when they play a home game, they owe 40% of their ticket sales to the visiting team. It doesn't state by how much Snyder was screwing over visiting teams. It simply says that he wasn't passing along the required amount which is 40%. If I had to guess, I'd estimate he only cut them by a few percentage points maybe 5% at most giving away teams 35% instead of 40%. Or whatever amount he thought he could get away with.
Anyway, that's enough English lessons for today. Don't worry about tuition.
