At some points the narrator seemed very incentive and ignorant, but I must admit I really enjoyed when he finally opened up a little to talk about his dead relatives.
I understand he's not used to it, and I'm sure it's just his knee jerk reaction to brush this type of "magic stuff" off, but in the end he did connect when he was willing and I hope he knows his relatives definitely received the message he sent and I'm happy he had a moment to let himself feel.
    I wish everyone the best.

We owe our lives, our journey through this life to our ancestors. They speak to us of our traditions, of our past and of our family. My niece's daughter joined the ancestor's at two years old on Christmas Day. Our memories hold their spirits and their spirits walk with us, who we are, what we see, how we grow.

I don't see him being disrespectful at all, he's asking questions in order to try to understand and to get as much information for the documentary in order to educate the viewers. I don't see the disrespect, he's there to document period. As an atheist in a family that does celebrate Day of the Dead, I am skeptical of spirits of my family members coming back to visit, but to me the Day of the Dead is a good time to remember my family that have gone and celebrate them as they were in life.

To say Oaxaca is going to be more "Aztec" incredibly inaccurate and false. Mexico is NOT monolithic. That statement he made is crazy disrespectful.

My grandmother died at the end of may right before my birthday I still have moments where I miss her and it’s still shocking to think that she’s gone because it was so unexpected even the way she died I didn’t expect but after watching this it’s helped the grieving process for me

I am Mexican and first the word AZTECA is incorrect. The proper word is MEXICA. La catrina was an elegant or well-dressed woman, so it refers to rich people. So many year ago a sharp dresses man was called CATRÍN and woman CATRINA. La Calavera (skeleton) Catrina was created by José Guadalupe Posada around 1910-1913. She was created as a satirical image. The artist aimed to mock the indigenous Mexicans who imitated European style....I hope I can help you with this!

I couldn’t came across this video in most perfect timing… I had to stop the video because the song that came out Selia Cruz (rest in peace by the way) was the exact song that I remember when I had to go through my first funeral if my beloved grandmother.. words can’t express how much I appreciate this for the lyrics in the song talk about not to cry 😢 for life is carnival, not to give in to negative thoughts.
She said to me you are and will always be the apple of my eye. I expected to watch this just in knowing how to honor my own memory of her for she was my biggest fan as well. Thank you 🙏🏻 🥰
Abuelita I see you ! Gracias for your birthday wishes I love you so very much and I hope anyone watching this knows that our love ones are always around , that we are never alone.. family , angels weather pets or friends they are with you , cheering you on 😊

the information was great but the narrator to this video seemed on edge with it and didn't see that it was more based on love and the feeling of the loved ones with them, but he more or less was focused on being able to see them there. I feel as though he is the type to think that "seeing is believing"

Just my honest opinion. If you are going to another country to document a tradition or a culture, don't do it from your perspective, do it from theirs. Nobody cares that you didn't grow up with this and that you don't believe in it, that doesn't make this tradition any less significant, and you just leave your audience annoyed that you refused to put your own prejudice aside. Just embrace it, learn about it, take part in it. I'm not from Mexico and I've never participated in this tradition but boy would I like to! I would go all in, I would want to dress up, cook the food and learn as much as I could about this.

samantha irving not really. It would be just the same as saying Halloween, Christmas or Easter is just hocus pocus. Technically all the religious holidays are nothing more than that when it comes down to it. It’s the people that celebrate it that give it real meaning not god or spirits of deceased loved ones.

His first statement is just inaccurate. To say Oaxaca is more "Aztec" than the last place where the height of the "Aztec" Empire had its reign= Mexico City. Mexico is NOT monolithic and Oaxaca us full of tribes that are not Aztec. Besides it's Nauha or Mexica NOT Aztec.

    • @Ava_Orchid
      @Ava_Orchid Před 6 lety +10

I think the point was to have a sort of skeptic come in and see if he felt anything. I mean any person who already follows these traditions would not have any sort of revelation since they already felt this to be true. It is more meaningful some times for some one to change the way one thinks then for someone to just believe in the same thing that they grew up with. Besides he truly came around and was very touched when they placed his passed family that he never met onto the altar and he felt that they were with him in some way. Introducing two people from the same culture with the same belief system is not a challenge at all but having someone be touched to such an extent that they change their viewpoint is more difficult by far. Though manners should tell you not to say someones food looks like mud. That is slap worthy!!

The Holy Bible declares that God has visited mankind in the flesh.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” - John 1:1,14
Jesus declared himself to be God.
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” - Revelation 1:8
Jesus’ disciples declared him to be God.
“And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.” - John 20:28
Jesus’ disciples worshipped him as God.
“And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy” - Luke 24:52
The Lord Jesus Christ is God in human flesh. The Holy Bible says that we are all sinners and fall short of attaining Heaven. But God loves us and came to die for our sins on the cross. Three days later he rose from the dead and ever lives to make intercession for us.
You must receive Jesus Christ and him alone as your personal Saviour. When you trust Jesus Christ as your Saviour, God imparts his own righteousness to your account and guarantees that you will go to Heaven. If you reject Jesus Christ as your Saviour, you will die in your sins and go to Hell. There is no amount of good works you can do to get yourself into Heaven; even the most righteous people fall short of God’s holiness. You must believe on Jesus Christ today and be saved/born again into God’s family!
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" - Romans 3:23
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." - Romans 5:8-9
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." - Romans 10:9
"[Jesus Christ] In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace" - Ephesians 1:7
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." - Ephesians 2:8-9
