This might be the most insane race bike I’ve ever seen. And probably the most expensive as well. It’s a Trek Madone SLR that was actually raced in the Tour de France by former World Champion Mads Pedersen and on which he won stage 8. In this video we weigh and measure it, listen to the freehub and go through all the quirky and cool features on it. And price it up as well if you wanted to buy it, which you unbelievably can.

I love this bike now, even though I thought it looked terrible at first. Really grew on me quickly and this paint job is the best.
More amazing than looks is the fact that an 58size frame with glossy thick paintjob, big chainset and pretty normal 62 deep wheels got under 7.5Kg.
Its not under 7.5 once you add pedals, but it's still amazing.
@@natheirabu-dahab1446 Time Xpresso 15: 140g still under 7.5Kg with computer mount. Don´t forget the bike already has a Quarq powermeter. Amazing!
@@wsbygt the quarq power meter doesn't add much weight in and of itself. That doesn't make it any less impressive. I didn't know of the Xpresso 15s but FWIW mads runs dura ace pedals which are 230 grams. So his setup weighs more than 7.5 even though you could get it down below that. Regardless, this is an insane weight for that bike.
@@natheirabu-dahab1446 Yeah I know! Under 7.5Kg race ready(computer mount+pm+2bottle cages) or are you going to bring the number holder and bike race tag to the mix now?
😶🌫
4:25 when that bike starts to lean and you reach to grab it 😂. Very nice ride, thanks for giving us a thorough tour of it!
His gen6 madone was weighed at 8.05 so there's definitely a good weight reduction going on with his new Madone. I ride the same bike at the same size (Sram Force though) at 6'2'' and it's perfect.
Yeah, I think largely down to the Isospeed removal. Even the mid range SL7 with the lower spec carbon is now 8.0kg
Every part of my body hurts just looking at it ^^ Gorgeous paintjob indeed!
Loved your comment about the slammed stem 😂 my back hurts just by looking at it 😂😂😂
More Pro bike reviews please.
That is a work of art!!
I would be too nervous to go out on my own , lots of gangs on mopeds. I've got the specialized tarmac sl8 pro, and I feel like I'm in the spotlight with that
Would only feel safe with this on a group ride, no chance in London alone.
I struggle to believe he’s 5’10” with a saddle height that big!
What Paint! What bling!
That bike show looks great... would love to go but I'm 3,255 miles away!
S Works Roubaix in Green Pearl is pretty special too.
If they launched the bike with these paint jobs, I feel like they would have had a much more enthusiastic response from consumers.
until you see the price difference when you order a 'project one' version with a special paint scheme like this!
@@l.d.t.6327 That goes for every new top end bike as well unfortunately like lab71...I just meant more about the overall reception
They did. Just add $4000+
@@festerofest4374 That's another bike for that price. Insanity.
really beautiful bike
3:18 SRAM only gives the gold cassette and chain to current or former world champions so it’s even more exclusive
Trek is my favorite 😍 bike I have the gen 6 and want to get the gen 7 but there is no dealer in my country 😢
You have to be a current or former world champion to use the gold cassette and chain, in UCI races
A stunner!!!
Phwooaaaaaarrrr that colourscheme! 100% a bit of me
Is it just me or does it not look like all the bikes at the Taipei Cycling Show about 4 or 5 years ago? Chameleon paint, all the direct from china frames had this a few years ago.
What bike wheel stand is that? Looks 🔥
7.35 KG !!!! Wowzers Nice and light even for an aero bike!!! if it were lets say a 52 o even 54 we are getting real close to the 6.8 limit.
Coming to your club ride soon with an overweight middle aged exec on top of it.
What brand is the water cage?
Gold chain and cassette is for world champions 🏆
A stunning Trek Madone bike, i weant one now 👍 Au
There’s no way someone 5’ 10” rides that bike 😂
That thing looks so cool. It'd be interesting to ride! Even though I'm a fat MAMIL lol.
Lovely bike and spec but the paint job is not really doing it for me I'am afraid!
Loved the earlier metallic red they were sporting or maybe a blue? A lot classier! 👍
Greetings … with many bicycles now offering custom or special paint jobs like Peterson amazing 🔥 Trek Madone … one would surely want to protect that special paint job from the elements and ride nasties … would something like PPF on vehicles work and would this be allowed … I see that Trek does sell RideWrap on their online store as well … I’m not sure if it could be ceramic coated as well in order to keep that one off work of art as mint as when it left the artists booth at factory
Never been a fan of aero bikes but that paint is "sick" as the young people say.
The paint job costs more than my own bike 🙂 Would be worth it, though. Just have to explain to the wife why we need a second mortgage...
Same 🤣🤣🤣 Still stuck on some horrid rim brakes bike
It’s almost as beautiful as my Sagan Venge
the size makes no sense for his hight.
I love this new Madone. I hear these are simply good bikes that are just fun to ride, the fact it's a rocket is icing on the cake. if I was needing a race bike, I'd start with this frame set.
Is it worth IT? Can you buy IT twice? NO. That answers your question.
£14 grand for a 7.4kg bike. What a joke! 🤦♂️
This is without pedals etc.
Killer paint, but still no old Italian styled paint jobs or OG Klein paint schemes. Did they run out of ideas? Sure looks like it. I’ll buy a Time bike over this any day.
Amazing bike. The most beautiful I have ever seen 🤩😍
Might look better in Space
That is a bargain. If you are a professional athlete and earn money off the tools
If anything trickles down to cheaper bikes…I hope it’s the paint job first
NO, my Colnago C50 with Mapei air brushed paint is. Never seen any bike look better.
Absolutely amazing paint job, not sure I have the watts to pull it off 😂
Btw, that fit is crazy im 6ft 2 and run 56cm frame. My saddle is way lower!
its all about leg length i guess. I am 6ft1 and definetly hitting the limits of my 56 frame
To answer the question in the video title. IMO, absolutely not. It's an eyesore. The paint scheme looks like it was designed by a preschooler on hallucinogens and the fat rims look like something off of a kid's plastic tricycle. Now, to state my biases, I prefer the look of lugged steel frames so fat tubes and thick rims will never appeal aesthetically to me. On the other hand, there's no doubt in my mind that the bicycle in the video is more efficient and effective as a racing bike than a lugged steel frame bike, but that wasn't the question. As an aside, I've always believed that very wide down tubes are a thing just so that the manufacturer or team name is more visible and/or readable.
That bike is so fire; I also ride a 58 at 5'11, and I have the seatpost height maxed out, 175mm cranks, and a high stack saddle to accommodate my fit lol.
Out of curiosity, what's the reason for riding such a large frame with the seat post at max height? I'm just under 5'11 with very long legs (about 85cm inseam barefoot) and was looking to get a 56 frame for my next aero road bike. What would be the benefit of going 58?
The price wants to make me vomit
Just put on a traditional seat tube and I might consider getting one.
Titanium is now a carbon. 😅
so beaut
Absolutely stunning❤
So amazing that only the rich folks can get it!! Or do you think that must of us bike lovers walk around with 25,000 in our pockets at all times??? 👀 Seriously 😂
If you are a pro... Its free😁
I really like your channel Arthur. Thank you for all your great content. In my opinion this is the WORST looking bike ever !
Looks one one of those cheap Chinese oilslick fixie frames.
4 grand for a paint job. It's a stunning bike but it's got silly
you could get pro paint job Martin Grey ETOE and a frame thrown for free for this money
the bike doesnt even look real when your crouching next to it looks like AI
Ridiculous frame shape... seriously if that is the future, not for me.
This bike is mega. Which i could ride it with similiar measurements. With an endurance fitting is looks just shit…. 😂
The Best Looking Race Bike Ever?!
Err no!!! paint job is nice that's about it.
Unpopular opinion: The scale between good taste and a horrible one is not a straight line, but rather a curved one, that sometimes goes all the way round untill both ends meet. This is the closest a bike gets to being high end, and at the same time full of flashy nonsense. The toxic mix of money and lack of awareness is what makes a person content with sitting on top of a giant shiny oil spill. this is the type of product that exposes the real divide between a pro, and his ego, and most of us.
I'm glad someone else said this. Most expensive - and ugliest. Never been a fan of the Madone's seat tube design.
So the most modern expensive bike available is going to be 1 kilo over what it should be
where is the progress here
Because a kilo won’t make a huge difference over a grand tour but being aero and deeper wheels will.
Well tours are won up hill , so really it should make a difference .
But of course if everyone is lumped wit the same heavy machinery it's irrelevant , on the flat the aero proabably just about compensates for the extra poundage
again where is the progress
meanwhile the club rider is priced off the road
deep wheels have been here for quite some time btw lol@@benhardwick1970
people are so so obsessed with weight, a kilo is not going to make much of a difference, considering the man riding the bike weighs 70 kilos. weight is not the end all be all on a road bike
Amazing pro bike, thanks for sharing. ...But how many pro sprinters in the world would actually ride this bike? 10? 20? And they are paid to ride it. So why is it even for sale? $$$. …Anyone who buys this bike is a poseur.
Mads is definitely more like 6ft1
I don't know why bike companies make these ridiculously expensive bikes. Amateurs who actually race don't buy them. No one wants to crash a 20k bike.
what the heck is 5 foot 1 inches, but then you measure his bike in cm?!??
Are you serious?
That's how we roll in the UK ;)
please metric.
@@ozgurinsan 177 cm give or take...
Welcome to the confusing world of British weights and measures!
The worst designed bicycle frame of the last few years. The paint job is a case of rolling a turd in glitter.
처음에 이뻐보일지 몰라도 시간이 갈수록 색상이 질릴것같음~^^
2 lbs heavier than an S-Works Tarmac. Cool bike but super heavy with very limited tire clearance and a seatpost design that is very prone to failure.
0 comfort
Quite simply no
Nope.
The Trek Madone is a very poorly designed bike. If you buy it you have to cut your seat post to fit. To say the hole is “more aero” is beyond stupid because there is no aero benefit at that point of the bike. Your body has the biggest effect on the drag especially at the seat post!
how often do you need to adjust your post height tho
Utterly ridiculous 7.35kg I own the exact bike it’s 8.03kg, heavy clunkers these days I’m an ex pro team mech, I build top bikes for under 2k and we or I will challenge you to a weight or road test you’ll be staggered
That colour scheme is absolutely grim 🤮
Awesome paint job and decent weight for a large aero frame but I don't like this bike. Isoflow is a gimmick and looks ugly. Trek does kind of thing a lot like bikes with bowed top tubes and unnecessary suspension features.
No it's looks 💩
Best looking? Just over rated.
just send it to me - namesticker allready matches ;) D*MN it looks good!
No. It looks quite awful actually.
