Breel Embolo scored for Switzerland but REFUSED to celebrate against the country of his birth.
The 25-year-old, who was born in Cameroon, opened the scoring in their Group G opener at the World Cup.
He smashed home from close range to give his side the lead, but showed respect to Cameroon in a muted celebration.
Fans online liked Embolo's classy celebration.
One Twitter user wrote: "Embolo was born in Cameroon? Much respect for that celebration."
A second tweeted: "No celebration from Embolo from, classy!!!"
A third added: "Embolo scores against his 'country'. No celebration. I respect that."
The AS Monaco star received Swiss citizenship in December 2014 and he revealed why he opted to represent the European country.
"When I chose to play for Switzerland, there was always a part of me that wanted to represent my country of birth," he explained. "But you can’t do what you do at club level and play for two different countries. I am very happy with my choice, and I am Cameroon’s biggest fan. I have lots of friends in the national team. We sometimes meet up either on holiday or in Cameroon.
"It’s a special match for me and my family, and I know there will be lots of emotions. It will be a big moment for my family. It was an emotional moment when the draw was made. I must confess I didn’t exactly jump for joy, but I was happy."
Why didn’t Embolo celebrate after scoring against Cameroon?
Breel Embolo gave the lead for Switzerland in its group G match against Cameroon in the 48th minute but did not celebrate.
The reason for his muted celebrations is because he is a Cameroon national by birth.
Embolo, in 2014, became a naturalised Swiss and made his professional debut for Basel that year.
