A fact. If an emotional track plays during a game, either something really bad is gonna happen to a well respected character, it's the last game of the series, or it was made by CAPCOM.
Doc Willy would never imagine the world he wanted to destroy so much was saved so many times by his greatest creation. And zero's friendship with X almost mirrors what he could have been with doc light if willy wasn't that hell-bent on destroying light's world. Zero is almost the embodiment of any good that remained in Willy.
There is a moteif of iris boss theme of mmx4, also said moteif can be heard in esperanto, that probably makes reference to zero recovering his memories from the far past.
My thoughts are different, but yeah, it is full of reminiscense. Another thing that helped me feem\l that way was that the atmosphere of the game felt like it was near the end of a long journey. Really fits.
After playing the legacy collection on the Switch, this theme really stuck out to me. It perfectly reflects the nature of conflict between reploids and humans, their dark history, and the underlying hope for a better future.

Damn, how I wanted a holy land remix with some more Iris battle theme foreshadows. For those who didn't know, the 0:24 part it's actually from Iris's battle theme from mmx4. So... i think that would be awesome if had some remixes making that kind of stuff. Imagine a mashup between cannonball and the past zero themes from mmx!

dude! this is one of my fav themes from MMZ4. I've always thought of making a lil' mix of this. the MMZ series was Megaman's version of FinalFantasy. that's how good I think this series is!
I think thats the point, zero 4 as a whole makes you feel like something is missing because its supposed to, so much has changed and you have lost a lot, you don’t even have a base anymore outside that trailer you get to use, all thats left for you is the trailer, those on it and the settlement in area zero which you must protect as it is the final remaining piece of nature and proper life thats left in the world since so much has been ruined over the course of the entire series thanks to countless and endless war and struggles
@truebluefudgemuffin I'm kinda late here but I think it's called area zero because of plants growing there, making it a place to restart, or Eurasia crash = Ground Zero.
I also felt that. But this music kinda forehadowed Zero's fate, as it was very sarrow. The whole game (especially the ending) made me want to cry. (Not as much as Mother 3 but still...)

Area Zero....the same location as the final stages of Mega Man X5. Fitting that the music here is very similar to the ending theme of that game.
