I'm pretty sure this game was originally a mobile game that got reworked into a console game. The anime is great though. If you have time to watch 100 episodes, I highly recommend it.
This game actually made me want to watch! The characters are awesome
Actually it was always a console game and it was originally announced before the anime even started (I think around Tokyo Game Show 2020). Covid just destroyed the development process entirely. I thought the game was silently cancelled until a demo played by the devs was unveiled in like early 2022.
This Anime is fire what they did with this was a plain insult, it's one of the WORST games of the year alongside with Avatar. Play Fate/Samurai Revenant instead, that's a great Anime style release, great story, challenging gameplay, awesome presentation, great animation.
STOP praising this sh#tty temple of recollection. This is a mobile game sold as a full game, glad this has pretty bad reviews, Square is the Japan EA nowadays.

The thing about the slideshow and voice acting is that they are directly taken from the anime, so that is kind of the extra sprinkle of disappointment to the people who are actually fans of the source material.

I wouldn't mind if it was done like dragon ball, using the game engine to make the story cutscenes, but that slideshow is just cheap and very bad.
Good review, but this game has Crocodine which makes it the beat game ever

Disappointing for me that it’s not really an RPG - like you said I wasn’t expecting it to be like a full mainline dragon quest game but exploration and discovery is what makes dq amazing, I was looking forward to doing some of that with a different style of combat

Good neutral-standpoint review. No bias, no hate. Those are the best kind, because you get more out of opinions and reviews this way.
I was under a rock, I remember when the game was announced and I was hyped, and only realizing the other day it was released for a while now haha.
From looking at gameplay and even this video, I can see a bit where the issues are, and probably not worth its full price.
But, It does still look fun. The animations and specials and character models look so fluent, almost like THAT was where most of the budget went. To make it LOOK pretty HAHAHA!
I can also see it has a lot of Mobile elements in it. This would've been better as a mobile game perhaps, but sadly the last Dai mobile didn't do so well, despite that ALSO being fun.
I will still definitely get this game, especially with a bit of an open mind and no high expectations!
But I think I will wait for a sale. (Especially since CAD is expensive.)

The best thing about this game is that it has put the spot light on Fate Samurai Remnant lol, but all jokes aside i will still buy this game but since it is subpar I will go for digital copy on a half price sale maybe for the holidays and won’t go out of my way to get a physical copy at $60 plus shipping. This old school anime style is still really attractive to me and im sure i will find some enjoyment with the game in short bursts.

After this review I'm gonna wait until it's part of a sale or reduced in price. The lack of exploration kills it for me. Even in your typical hack/slash games you have some sort of freedom to roam the map to find hidden goodies, this feels more like an Arena fighter or Brawler as stated in the vid.
Yup, and exploration would have helped this game a lot! Even if it was minimal
Sounds pretty rough. Great review my dude. This is gonna be a hard sell for me, even as someone that loves Dragon Quest. Even if it ends up going on sale...I'd probably go for something else instead, lol

Second, yeah it’s definitely a game, I might wait for a sale and pick it up for curiosity sake. (This coming from me who played Valkyrie Elysium day 1)

is this game story telling via static screenshot or through full 3D animated scene? I'm new and haven't watch any of its show (just learned of existence of this dragon quest Dai adventure via its game trailer few weeks ago). would like to experience its story through game-play if possible.
I explain it all in the video. It’s mix of still images and 3D cutscenes with it mostly being the still images

I found it’s annoying when I dashed away from the enemies. Then I pressed R-button but the camera was not move to the focus enemy. Until I have to really face them. And it is more like a story telling than an RPG. A bit disappointed but I am glad I can see these characters again.
I had SO many unfair deaths due to camera angles. Especially in the small indoor arenas. Forget it.
Good review. I'm a few hours into the post-game and as i look back, the most major issue is the gameplay loop. It doesn't bounce between the story and the temple at the right pace so it just felt clunky. Now ive finished with the story but still cant get through the temple but the game gives me no other options so im stuck going nowhere! No shops, minigames, equipment, skill trees. Just forced to run the same challenge bosses over and over with no real benefit.
And My Favorite: No Resurrection or Revive Spells so once a person dies in the temple, theyre dead forever and good luck getting up to Floor 30. And their AI sucks so expect your healer to just be hangin out while your entire team dies.
Sorry, I just beat the game and im just so disappointed lol. I would've loved the structure, but this is honestly a solid 4 out of 10 game. It's 100% unfinished in every way and should've cost $19.99 - $24.99.
You summed it up really well. I’m glad u had some fun though, but yeah many minor issues that add up to annoyance
@SweisSenpai I just started DQ11 Definitive Edition yesterday and it's truly hilarious that both of these games cost the same amount on release. And it was FREE for PS Plus lol. I'm in heaven now.

Reminds me of Scarlet Nexus. I'm not really a fan of the mission based quest design in RPGs. I was really disappointed to learn GBFR was going to be this way too.

The only problem with this game is the price 😅 As a game, I don`t think it`s so different from FF7 Crisis Core-Reunion or the Dark Cloud series of the early 2000s. A bit more large exploration would have made it a very good game.
Agree, that’s why I say it’s probably the *biggest* issue in the video. I think people would be easier on it if it were cheaper. Even then though after having many hours on CC reunion and a decent amount on this , CC has much more fluid combat. Thanks for watching! :)
I absolutely loved Crisis Core and DC and this isn't even in the same ballpark. This is like a side quest of another full game somewhere.
This sucks, should have been 30 to 40 bucks then. I wish square gave the star ocean 6 the grahics budget of this game

Too long title sounds like a parody. That alone killed the game.
Nothing happened to the game. Noisy pixel did a crap review for 4 stars and everyone got worked up, a gaming Moral panic, and because of diablo IV, everyone has been in attack mode.
I finished the game myself and went over what I thought was lackluster. I did not base anything here off anyone’s else’s words
