Right? I go between your channel and Hannah’s every day as I work. There’s something about your contents that is so insightful, intelligent and calming. Thank you! ❤
I don't blame Alex for the consequences that Ned has had to deal with because of the affair. However, she is still responsible for the pain she caused to her own partner. I acknowledge the power imbalance in hers and Ned's affair but she should have known the pain it would cause for her fiance.
Hard disagree that Alex isn't at fault. She's a grown adult and made the decision to cheat on her fiance. It's not like she was some poor fresh faced intern; she was featured a fair amount on the channel and had a good position in the company. Obviously that doesn't excuse Ned abusing a position of power to have an affair with an employee or the public backlash she's getting, but she's not faultless in this scenario; the world isn't as black and white as that.
Quick note about how the Try Guys were able to keep their name after leaving: In one of BuzzFeed's articles about the Ned scandal, they disclosed that BuzzFeed is a shareholder and has a financial stake in Second Try LLC.
That makes sense. For some reason they didn't say that when they first left. They just said each one of them had to pay an undisclosed stupid-high amount of money to buy the name from Buzzfeed.
I think some of the hate that Alex is getting has to do with just how involved Ariel has been with this company. She's not some obscure "wife at home." These two interacted with some degree of regularity. Alex was also directly involved in videos in which the premise was for Ariel to share her deep insecurities about herself. To listen to this woman talk about the things about herself that make her physically insecure, and then sleep with that woman's husband is just so gross on Alex's part.
@@SierraSmith306 And you are 100% entitled to how you view the situation. I think we both agree that Ned's behavior was egregious, but I think we disagree as to whether Alex bears any responsibility. In my own opinion, this is a very specific circumstance in which there is more grey area and nuance to consider. In the way I view it, she is not 100% a victim without any agency. You may see it differently and that is absolutely fine. It's an important conversation to have.
@@SierraSmith306 Im old enough to see many employee volunteerly cheat with their boss. some of them want some previlige, some of them just want to cheat someone. idk some cheaters are just cheat all the time.. 🤷♀️🤷♀️ i don't mean Alex is not the victim, cos i don't know her, but some people are just willing to cheat lol my friend worked a online clothing shop once, and one of her colleague was really bad at work and lazy. but after she cheated with the owner, he only listened to her and the company started mess up so quick. many of good employees and my friend left that company asap
Would love to hear your “evolution of” insight into the vlogbrothers, John and Hank Green. The amount of content they’ve been able to put out, and the growth they’ve had is incredible. 🤞
I think the reason everyone loved them from the beginning is because they’ve always been transparent, always been open and genuinely, and always truly loved each other as friends and almost brothers. And the way they handled everything just reinforced that.
Hannah not to be ironic bringing up our own parasocial relationships but I got emotional seeing you uploaded 😭 I legit missed you. I would absolutely love a "rise and fall" of buzzfeed video I think their approach to making a brand to produce content is fascinating
I'm so incredibly happy to see you back 💕 I'll comment something relevant to the video after I've finished it but...just know you've got a bunch of love and support from the Glowsticks here.
Something to note here that I only recently discovered from SWOOP’S video: Alex was a fan of the try guys when working at BuzzFeed and there was an implication from her comments that people under the main talent do not speak to the people higher up in the company. They took Alex with them when they left BuzzFeed and I find it hard to believe that that dynamic still wasn’t a thing or at least present in her mind, on top of being a literal fan. It puts more of an icky feeling to the relationship
You are so smart and so insightful and so succinct. I find that lots of tea and internet culture channels do this thing where they phrase simple or rudimentary ideas as if they are super deep, as well as bizarre roundabout repetition in their sentence structure to sound smart while talking about silly things. It’s so refreshing to me that you talk like a normal-sounding, conversational, very intelligent person. There’s an ease to the way you speak while maintaining your deep insight that I find so unique and wonderful! Missed you!
I absolutely love your comment: I completely agree! It gets frustrating watching videos with really interesting subject matter that seems geared toward preteens in their approach with language and presentation. This is beyond refreshing, and plays a huge role in my dedicated subscribership! If I could only find other channels that took this approach, I’d love it. My search continues… Lol
100% agree! A lot of tea and internet culture channels (to borrow your expression) stretch the same fact and sentence to last for a whole video. It is very obvious that they are too lazy to do a lot of research to talk about the before but they still want to fill a video to get money. So they use one small fact that may or may not be controversial to fill the video, maybe add some reactions they found on twitter at the end, add a clickbait title and bam. Finished their lazy, money hungry video.
I beg to differ on Alex being exempt from receiving hate. She knew exactly who Ariel was when she started having an affair with Ned, her husband. Alex was also in a long term relationship herself. She’s a shitty person for cheating on her partner with a married man whose wife she also worked with.
So many females think shes the victim, well shes not. Alex has a "history" of cheating. Both of them decided to sleep around hurting both of their loved ones in the process. Saying shes the victim is invalidating their spouses it's disappointing to say the least.
So originally I agreed with you but try looking at it this way. There are 2 possibilities here: 1. Their relationship was consensual, and alex is therefor equally to blame-- she did all of this by her own choice w/o manipulation and therefor is clearly in the wrong. 2. Their relationship was not consensual due to a power imbalance. (Ex: Ned wanted to be with her and she only agreed bc her job was on the line if she were to say no). In this situation she wouldn’t really be to blame and would actually be a victim While we can argue about which situation is more likely, and while I personally agree that #1 is more likely, if there is even a chance that it could be #2 wouldn’t it be absolutely terrible for us to come after her? That’s like someone accusing someone else of rape, there’s technically a chance that they are lying, but we automatically have to believe the victim due to the implications of us not believing them when they were truly terribly harmed or traumatized
As someone that’s watched them since middle school, that’s so wild to me. CZcams is so strange in that there can be super successful creators with millions of followers the algorithm just never recommends.
I am SO GLAD that you actually mentioned how integral the guys' partners are to the brand. Most of the other videos barely even mention them at all and ignore the fact that they do work for the company as well, and just label them as the partner.
“I think this situation has only been good for the try guys” Honestly, I agree 100%. I never watched the try guys before this point (Keith and Grant from College Humor being doppelgängers and the sperm count episode cited by Hbomberguy in his soy boys video was really my only exposure) but seeing the responsibility displayed and all of the love for them and their handling of the situation has made me want to finally dive into their content. I want to support them during this trying (haha) time, and I’m sure others must feel the same.
As someone who has watched them from the beginning…. Ive stopped watching them only because its boring. Its just Keith and Zach and Lewberger shoved down our throats
This is random but on a lot of videos I see people talking about ariel being pregnant and losing their health insurance, full house renovation during the pregnancy, but i dont see people talking about how she ended up going into labor FOUR weeks early!! I swear this whole thing stressed her out so much she went into labor honestly a lot of times in hindsight it seemed like this time of life was so hard for her 😭
Alex is a grown woman who actively knew she was not only hurting Ned’s wife and kids but also her fiancé. While Ned deserves most of the blame, Alex should also be held accountable for her actions
THE QUEEN IS BACK ❤️ I'm so happy you posted. I've missed your content so much. You actually inspired me to post my own content on CZcams. You are absolutely glowing btw.
I do assign blame to the mistress. She hurt her own partner and the way she produced videos where Ariel was open about insecurities just makes me feel very uncomfortable. However, Ned's actions extend a lot further and he deserves more blow back.
i think to say that the woman deserves no blame is insanely black and white and shows no nuance. i agree that the relationship is inherently unhealthy and you can’t have full consent when there are power dynamics at play, but this woman is a grown adult who knew exactly what she was doing. she knew that she was hurting not only ned’s wife and kids, but also her own partner. both her and ned are completely responsible for their own actions. unless she was literally being forced or blackmailed into having a relationship with him, she made choices that were disrespectful, unethical and caused so much harm to people that did not deserve it. i do think ned is worse because he is older and superior to her in the workplace, but it’s not like this girl was forced into doing something that she didn’t know the consequences of. just because one person is more wrong doesn’t mean that the other person is completely absolved of any blame.
I also think people aren’t acknowledging that the power dynamic wasn’t clear. Alexandra and Ned were coworkers at Buzzfeed for years, and the try guys kept bringing their old coworker friends back as guests and hired Alexandra as an old coworker. Plus ned was not the only boss. But their relationship was established more on the grounds of equals rather than being isolated as a inherent power disadvantage
Since you've left I've started law school and I'm actually having a REALLY bad day today, so I'm so happy to see you back and it came just at the right time for me personally
We Stan a smart girl! I’m very proud of you, and please remember that “this too shall pass.” Sometimes women are strong because we have to be, so I’m sending you love, support and hope from Kentucky! Keep fighting, sister! You can do this!
Thank you for the video. Your content is always on point. I agree with 99% of what you said except the fact that you feel Alex Herring has no blame in the situation. She isn't a child. She is 36 years old, she was in a long term relationship, and she was about to get married. Just like Ned monetized his wife guy persona, Alex was starting to do the same with her upcoming nuptials. That must be the reason why her own fiancé exposed them both. I understand that there is a power dynamic, but Alex worked with both Ned and his wife. She understood what Ned brought to the table when it came to the Try Guys. She probably hung around Ariel pretty frequently, and she still had no problem crossing that line. I guess I would cut her more slack if there was proven quid pro quo between the two. But I just think they were bored with their long term relationships and found flirting on videos, while both knowing they were fooling around to be very exciting. They both suck. But Ned will likely never truly recover because he's a fraud. I wish them both a lifetime of well deserved infamy.
this is a good point! also calling her a girl, not a woman makes her sounds like she's a 21 year old fresh employee, not a grown adult who has a long work history with the people involved.
I don’t think they both deserve a “lifetime” of infamy…. that’s nuts. The current criticism is understandable but hopefully they can learn, make amends to the people they’ve hurt and carry on with their lives without this scandal defining their whole existence. wtf a goddamn lifetime
Hannah! I am so glad you’re back. I missed your content. You always make me think out of the box and make me think of different perspectives which I highly appreciate from your channel. I do not know why you left for so long, but all I know as a loyal subscriber we are here for you and know you always put a smile on my face when you upload and take me out of my crazy life for a few minutes with your videos.
I was worried & concerned on why she hasn’t posted in a while so I did some searching & found something pretty heartbreaking. Unfortunately her & Charles have mutually decided to separate. She made a post on twitter about it. I was speechless but mostly prayed she was/is ok & holding strong as best she can
I feel like jacksfilms deserves an Evolution of video, he's been in the CZcams game since forever, he's done it all, reinvented himself and his content, his series kept being the same but with new fun additions and gimmicks that made them feel fresh for both viewers and Jack himself.
OMG I’M SO HAPPY YOU’RE BACK! Since the new season of Love Is Blind came out I’ve been saying to myself “Where is Smokey Glow?? 😭” I feel like we would agree on so much this season 😄 Anyway, so fucking happy you’ve graced us peasants with your return. We’ve missed you & all hope you’re doing ok. If not that’s ok too ❤ We truly care about you Hannah ❤ Also thank you for a nearly 1 hour video. We don’t deserve you QUEEN 💜
@@abigaelmacritchie1365 I started watching it because of her & I hope so too. I don’t want to give her requests though because she’s going through a lot. I’ll just simply 🤞🏽☺️ that she does one
And when the world needed her most, she returned Also just a note if Hannah sees this: never ever feel bad for taking time off for you! Just making a meme. We will always be here :)
I’ll be honest, Alex is a full grown adult. She doesn’t need to be babied because she knowingly had an affair with a guy with a wife and kids and she herself had a fiancé. She’s a bad person and hurt so many people with her actions. Neds terrible don’t get me wrong and his hate is justified but hers is too.
100% wrong on so many levels. 1. The only person to say the relationship was consensual was Ned. No one has come out and stated how it actually went down. So don’t assume based off of that shitty man’s words. 2. Ned was her HR, he was her boss, he signed her checks 3. The try guys have come out and stated not to harass anyone involved. Imagine your mistakes being broadcasted everywhere and millions of people are judging you. That level of judgement and then harassment can push anyone to suicide. Leave Alex and Ned the fuck alone. No one is babying them when they say “don’t harass them”. And finally, Strangers on the internet < the people in your life. Trust that everyone involved is getting the punishment they deserve off the internet. Listen to the people in the actual situation (aka the try guys) and respect that they don’t want Alex to be harassed online
yeah not only that, she was also in a relationship with someone for over ten years!!!!!!! and she knows Ned has a wife and kids! and she still does that!!!!!!!!
People defending her for the actions she has done is invalidating her spouse and Ned’s but they don’t want to hear that. Besides she admitted to almost cheating before. I see some women will stand for other women regardless of their actions.
Miles, their podcast producer, made a good point regarding the SNL sketch, “There were so many ways/opportunities to make jokes about this situation and they chose the ONE wrong take.”
Hannah I just can’t believe how TALENTED YOU ARE AT STORYTELLING! They way you put this video together was perfect. You didn’t just want to make the same type of videos on the Try Guys that everyone is right now! That is what sets you apart and it shows, your video shows completely different things and shows the back BACK story. Which is definitely needed imo. I’ve watched a couple videos of people talking about the try guys and truthfully you watch one you watch them all. EXCEPT for yours! Once again you are amazing and thank you for the time and effort you put into your videos! Love ya!
@@dokayy thank you! & did you notice that I typed “ That DENTS you apart and I shows” 🤣🤣 instead of SETS omgggg. I’m going to edit the comment and fix it 🤡🤣
As someone who used to follow the try guys-esp when they first broke from buzzfeed but had fallen off until the Ned drama-I’m loving that you are doing this. It’s definitely what I would have wanted to do myself but didn’t want to fall down the rabbit hall! Sooo thank you Hannah!!! And it’s good to see you ❤
What a queen. Just slides back into content without an over explanation of how needed it was. I was here before 50k subscribers and while you took breaks, they were never long enough for the amount of time you have put into this channel. Glad you took care of yourself and are easing back into things. Hope life is settling down, and you're finding a new groove. ❤
In a buzzfeed article recently they said that buzzfeed owned a stake in second try LLC. So I think it's likely that they were able to keep the IP in exchange for buzzfeed having a partial ownership in their company. Also welcome back queen!
The hate that Alex Herring getting out of this scandal isn't absurd at all. She was caught cheating by her own fiance, who by the way gave her and Ned a chance to stop the affair which they didn't. Also financially she benefited the most out of this affair because based on California laws the Try guys can't touch her without legal repercussion and a huge pay out to her. She practically can't be fired no matter what and can still be paid even if she doesn't do anything for the company. Also she in a pretty high position under 2 try guys LLC. Beside being a manager and associates producer she is technically above everyone in the company besides the 4 owners. Ned was kicked out of the Try guys and was thrown under the bus by the 3 try Guys. Alex still has a job and none of the try guys wanted to talk about her because of legal reasons. Like even if Ned didn't have a family or a relationship him being dumb enough to touch a subordinate was a death sentence to his position alone based on California laws. It's could also explain why in the affair photos Alex was all over him. She practically got Ned and the company by the balls. The hate she is getting is public hate which she cannot control. She can control the try guys like she controls her Instagram comments.
This comment makes a lot of assumptions that aren't fact at all. The "getting caught by her own fiance and given a chance to stop the affair" came from a rumors site and hasn't been confirmed by anyone involved. She was a production manager and is now an associate producer, but I wouldn't say that's above everyone in the company, Nick (Chief Operations Officer) and Rachel (Executive Producer) would be higher than Alex on the company structure. There is the legal possibility that there could be a payout or lawsuit if she's fired, but painting her as this all powerful entity in the Try Guys company that she can control them and have them "by the balls" is unsubstantiated. If that were true, it would make more sense to just pay her out than to have someone else control the company.
@@SailorCSH so far you also heard about Will catching Alex and Ned and gave them a chance to ended the affair. Seems like it's not an assumption on my part because you already heard about the story. Also you know about the legal repercussions the Try guys could face from Alex. If you haven't heard they are struggling with money currently because of the massive amount of money lost in this scandal and also the amount of collateral damage they have to pay to their PR lawyers. Also kicking Ned out wouldn't be cheap since he owns 1/4 of the company. They can't just automatically kick him out they have to buy him out. They also most likely trying to sue him for collateral damage to make up the difference which may not even cover the cost of how much to kick Ned out and the Lawyers as well. And you assumed they have enough money to pay off Alex out especially since she can have multiple reasons to sue the company even attempting to pay her off and fire her? She could sue for discrimination. She could claim the affair was not consensual and it was just abuse of power and sexual harassment and that the Try guys didn't do anything to stop it. Because of the scandal Alex can say she can never find a job again and the Try guys LLC will have to compensate for her losses. It's another reason she hasn't said anything or addressed the scandal. She is covering her ass if things goes bad for her. Also keep in mind other employees could also attempt to sue the company because Alex got the promotion or job that they applied for and say she got the position because she was sleeping with the owner. Also wonder why Ned and Alex were so bold in public. It's possible the Try guys team knew about it already and Ned and Alex got too comfortable. Both of them are famous enough to be recognized and they had multiple incidents of being caught together. The internet got to the scandal way before the Try guys announced anything.
@@SailorCSH She still cheated on him. Do you really think he would've broken up with her if she was taken advantage of? Scrub her from his social media if she was a victim?
Listen, lots and lots of us have been watching all of the Try Guys "scandal" videos since the news broke, but this is, BY FAR, The Best video thus far, and I'm so here for it! I love that there's such a deep dive into this far beyond the baseline of "this is bananas because Ned is 'the wife guy'". You really dug into a lot of different perspectives on the individuals, the group, the history, the evolution, etc. and gave us such a broader picture of why this hurt so many fans so deeply, and I'd bet a lot of us couldn't exactly put our fingers on just why we were so bothered by this, but you really put words and understanding to this in a way that I think a lot of people *feel*, but have been unable to articulate as well as you've done here. Thank you!
Great video! Small note: the employee that Ned cheated on, Alex, was engaged to another man. So while I totally agree that the workplace relationship was wrong and nonconsentual, she also cheated. They both suck :(
I remember hearing (maybe from their podcast) that it was ironically because of Ned that they maintained the IP. He was in a much higher position in buzzfeed than the rest of them, so when try guys was starting to be a series, and no longer a one off, he made sure that the control of the IP stayed with the Gus
I think the way they handled everything really brought my love of their content back again. I have started watching them again even though I haven’t watched since probably 2019.
I actually gasped when you posted. I miss your content, yet I completely understand why it's not constant. No pressure. I'll be here to watch any new content uploaded. Wishing you the best 💕
Just turned in an assignment that turned out way too mediocre for the amount of time i had been working on it. Watching this video made me feel a lot better! Love hearing about internet drama to distract myself from stress like that!
I’m sorry but I just can’t with the “preying on a subordinate at work”. I understand the technicalities of what you’re saying and the math adds up for an abuse of power situation. But I think nuance exists and this *woman* did make her own decisions time and time again. She should not be getting hate and she’s certainly not the main responsible here. But she also participated in putting her own career at risk by having an exciting affair with her boss. She also woke up every day and made those choices that put herself and the company at risk. Not even mentioning the complete disregard for a wife and kids who were in the picture. She was not an underage, under experienced, naive little girl. I think the phrase “preying upon a subordinate” suggests that she was coerst into something.
As a dedicated tryguys fan (and I’m not a “fan girl” type of person) I’m so ecstatic that my fav CZcams commentator is gonna be talking about them for a whole video!! I totally trust your summary/analysis :)) so happy to hear your voice!!
I bet Alex’s fiancé doesn’t feel like she’s 100% not to blame…. Additionally, he’s not “way above her.” She’s a major producer & had a major presence in videos, not just “a couple” of appearances. Everyone needs to quit giving her a get of jail free card!
I feel like the Try Guys will have their own renaissance and I'm here for it! To be honest, as much as I enjoyed their videos, they felt a bit formulaic (like, of course they've always followed a formula, but lately it felt like they were relying too much on that and it lacked a bit of personality). Hopefully, this change will allow them to expand their experiences, and ours with them. (Also, I really enjoyed the Broadway video, it was *made* for Keith)
Alex is not a victim here. She was engaged and cheating on her partner, and I truly believe no one would be framing her as a victim if the genders were reversed.
personally wouldnt go so far as to say it was nonconsensual because i think the implications of that are really big without sufficient concrete evidence. i do agree there is a power imbalance, and it puts into question the legitimacy of consent given by the woman. but i think that by assuming that she had no choice, we are making the assumption that she was helpless and forced to do this, when the reality is that she could have chosen to switch jobs, tell someone, and not cheat on her 10 year relationship. she is a grown woman - which isnt to say that she cant be coerced, but staying in it for so long that the news came out from external sources? she didnt have to stay in the job, in this situation, she had plenty of time and just as many opportunities to do whatever it took to regain her integrity and loyalty to her partner and she didnt do it at any point.
Girl, no. She was a grown adult who had a relationship with a man she knew was married Yes there’s a power imbalance, but no that does not make her an innocent party in that dynamic.
I absolutely would love to see a video on the implosion of buzz feed. I have watched all the “why I left buzz feed” videos. A deep dive of buzz feed would definitely captivate my entire attention
I'm ecstatic that you're back!! I hope your time off has been healing and relaxing, and that you know there's no pressure to come back if you're not ready. Also, as a fan of the Try Guys since they branched off, this is an excellent analysis of them. I do kind of disagree though. I 100% agree that a relationship with a power imbalance cannot be considered consensual and Ned took advantage of his position, but I do think Alex deserves some criticism solely because she also cheated. Granted, Ned is absolutely the one deserving hate, criticism, and pushback, but she also cheated on a partner she was with for 10+ years. The amount of criticism they deserve is obviously on very different levels and Ned deserves so much more of it. Imo, cheating is never okay
I strongly agree there's no way for a boss and subordinate to be in a consensual relationship. And it's concerning that so few people seem to understand that.
Delighted is an understatement, ECSTATIC TO SEE YOU BACK!!! I've been listening to your videos in the background when I'm doing my MA work aha. You mentioned Good Mythical Morning a lot....this could be a really interesting 'Evolution of....' videos, they've been around so long and their content has really evolved
HANNAH! Cannot tell you how much I missed your uploads. I’ve been watching your videos for years now and didn’t realize how much your content has got me through… it feels like you’ve been along with me on my journey through life (parasocially obviously). I’m sending you lots of love and light on your journey as well. Hope you’ve been taking it easy ❤️ We definitely missed you.
You can consent to have a relationship with someone with more power than you. Just because they have more power doesn’t guarantee it’s coerced, it’s a risk and something to consider. An adult can decide whether to have an affair with another adult.
Not legally in HR terms. Especially when that individual is your direct reporting manager or is providing your pay or opportunities for promotion etc. There are literally forms you have to complete to declare a relationship between parties and you cannot be a supervisor/superior directly over a significant other - you have to either change departments or have another reporting manager.
I’m SOOO glad you’re back! This video was so thoughtful and well articulated. Respectfully, I do disagree about Alex having NO blame in this. There was a power imbalance for sure and I agree about it never being fully consensual as long as that imbalance is there, but she did still have some responsibility. She is grown and made the choice to have a year long affair with him- being engaged herself no less. Ned should absolutely be getting 90% of the heat for this, but to say that she is a victim with no responsibility is a stretch 🤷🏼♀️
Totally agree with you. Especially due to the fact that there is a power embalance, but so many people act like Alex is some teenager who's just a food baby when in reality she's like 30 and an associate producer. Very much an adult who can make decisions. Legally it's definitely a power imbalance non the less tho.
Great, the fact that you’re solving made me cry. Is it possible that we all just love each other too much? Lol I’m so happy that we are united by Hannah, I think we love her more than she’ll ever know.
Happy to see you back. A couple of things: - Rhett and Link weren’t friends when they started their careers. They met at (pre-social media era) local TV show. Doesn’t distract from your point, but it actually more aligns with how the Try Guys met than how the Vod Squad and a few current era influencers got their start. - I do put some blame on the person Ned had the affair with. She knew Ned was in a relationship. Even though it was Ned’s responsibility to not be a d-bag and utilize his position of a co-owner of his business to foster a relationship, she wasn’t a fresh woman out of college when it occurred either. She was a 30-something in a long term relationship. Her actions had cascading consequences as well.
Even though I put some blame on her, I do agree that ultimately Ned is the one who is at fault for engaging with her in the first place. He was “HR”. If he knew anything about HR he would know what he was doing was putting himself and his business co-owners and friends into both ethical and legal consequences. He hurt his wife, his children, and those who care about him. All for basically nothing. He was advantaged with the power imbalance, and even today some folks are giving him passes. It’s honestly really gross. Shame on him.
Rhett and Link have been friends since Elementary school, it's an integral element of their brand, what are you on about? They've done a whole documentary finding their Elementary school teacher, there are photos of them together at summer camp, they were roommates in college. They did a TV show, but that was after approximately two decades of friendship. I'm just baffled that you're so confident in this statement and yet it's so wrong - it's like saying the Green Brothers met doing Crash Course.
Saying the relationship was not consensual is a giant reach and really underestimates a person's ability to think for themselves and make ethical descisions.
I was just stalking your CZcams account today!! I've missed you so much🥺💕 you pulled me thru making my depression food in my senior year a few months ago, so dumb but it really really helped me as I was depressed and hopeless, at least I would be distracted for an hour a day💕
So happy that you’ve returned! Also buzz feed does still have stake in the game for try guys, when they were writing articles about the Ned situation that had disclaimers in the articles
I think that to say that the woman he had the affair with is just as culpable as Ned is incorrect. However she is absolutely not blameless. Right and wrong exists. If you know that someone is married and you have a relationship with them you are in the wrong. It is his marriage and he’s ultimately responsible for that, but it is a moral failing to be in a relationship with someone who you know is married. Power difference or not. To say that she’s completely blameless makes her also completely powerless. And that’s a line of thinking that I can’t subscribe to.
I honestly feel like describing the affair as not consensual takes away alex's agency as a person, and that a distinction should be made between consent and the power dynamic of her being with someone who works above her. The imbalance is worth discussing but she is an adult and chose to be part of the relationship. Doesn't mean she should get hate for it, but she shouldn't be framed as helpless-for the sake of treating her like an adult and a person if nothing else
Ummm the girl he cheated on his wife with was in a relationship. She was engaged and cheated on him. She’s not a victim when she’s also in the wrong for what she did, and she should be facing scrutiny for what she did.
I agree that the focus should be on Ned, but you calling a grown ass woman a girl purposefully makes her seem like the victim. This was not an underage child that he went after this woman is in her 20s she was in a relationship for 10 years. I get it he’s definitely more at fault. But she had a partner who she betrayed. She harmed someone she claimed to love. But again, my biggest thing is is if this woman didn’t work for the company and she was just some random person he was having an affair with you would’ve never refer to her as a girl in this video you’re seemingly very purposefully using a child term to make this woman the victim and I’m not saying she isn’t a victim, although I mean she hasn’t spoken out publicly saying anything about the relationship being something she didn’t want to be a part of so like I do think it was consensual but more importantly, like she’s a grown ass woman and girl is used to demean grown ass women, or to victimize them.
I was just on your channel the other day because I realized I hadn’t seen you post in a while and thought maybe I had missed an announcement or something. So glad to see you back!! 💖💖
YAS. Call out SNL, they completely missed the mark, and it feels like they're just spreading misinformation. also, so excited your comeback is on none other than the try guys!!! all your other evolutions or history ofs I usually am learning about the person/channel, etc. this is probably the first time I actually know about the topic, and love your bird's eye view while also going in deep. I almost forgot it was bc they were the only ones willing to try on women's underwear that got them together in that first vid. They also did a covered their nakey bodies in sushi for buzzfeed coworkers to eat. that was wild.
Considering how long Alex was in a relationship with her fiancé, I find it hard to not put a little blame on her. Ned takes majority blame for the power imbalance but if it's a non consentual relationship why didn't she tell her fiancé. I believe they were together for..., 10 years? After that long, you would think he would be the one she'd go to EVEN if she was being forced. The one she loved for YEARS. The one to seek comfort and help from(other than family). She would've known that a cheating relationship with Ned could destroy her long lasting relationship if it got out. If it was nonconsent, that relationship would be salvageable. It would look better on her to be the unwilling victim than the intentional cheater. Out of all the people in her life that could be most affected (ignoring Ariel, Try Guys, and the company), it would be her fiancé. She should have enough trust in her fiancé to not betray or abandon her. Enough trust to confide in during such a situation. So, why did her fiancé only find out through a fan? A YEAR LATER. To me, it looks like she kept it a secret and cheated. Fuck Ned. He's mostly to blame. But Alex isn't blame free.
So glad you're back! 💛 Also I've been wanting to say this about The Ned situation: he most likely called it a 'consensual workplace relationship,' so he wouldn't get slapped with harassment/SA allegations
Whaaaa, Ned and Ariel were doing relationship seminars??? This is a pet peeve of mine, when people with no educational credentials or professional experience in an area pretend to be experts in it and make a lot of money. See also: Rachel Hollis. (Whatever you pay to get bullshit advice from these people would buy you a lot of therapy sessions with an actual licensed counselor, just sayin’.)
I love the try guys so this whole situation is honestly crazy, goes to show you don’t really know people online. Also PLEASE do the buzzfeed breakdown that would be awesome!

Unfortunately yes
I don't blame Alex for the consequences that Ned has had to deal with because of the affair. However, she is still responsible for the pain she caused to her own partner. I acknowledge the power imbalance in hers and Ned's affair but she should have known the pain it would cause for her fiance.
And the pain she caused Ariel too, cuz she was at least acquaintances with her if not work-friends
Everyone wake up the queen has posted
AHHH SHE SAW MY COMMENT
Big W but seriously I am so happy to see you back love
We're up!!
☕ up and ready -- here for this!
Yes I’ve been waiting with baited breath
Was actually about to go to bed and simply cannot now
Hard disagree that Alex isn't at fault.
That makes so much sense!
That makes sense. For some reason they didn't say that when they first left. They just said each one of them had to pay an undisclosed stupid-high amount of money to buy the name from Buzzfeed.
Ahhh that makes sense
@@wildboywifey6485 maybe they did but still had to keep buzzfeed as a shareholder
Thanks for clarifying! I knew Buzzfeed was protective of their IP (see: Ladylike) so I was always curious how this happened.
Still, Alex was a victim too. Their is no consensual relationship between a superior and subordinate. Ned abused his power.
The other details don’t mean much in light of that daunting fact.

YES!! they created vidcon!!! among other amazing accomplishments!! and their accomplishments outside CZcams are amazing too!!!
I think the reason everyone loved them from the beginning is because they’ve always been transparent, always been open and genuinely, and always truly loved each other as friends and almost brothers. And the way they handled everything just reinforced that.

Omg the Queen is back. What a pleasant surprise!
💯
So originally I agreed with you but try looking at it this way. There are 2 possibilities here:
In this situation she wouldn’t really be to blame and would actually be a victim
While we can argue about which situation is more likely, and while I personally agree that #1 is more likely, if there is even a chance that it could be #2 wouldn’t it be absolutely terrible for us to come after her?
That’s like someone accusing someone else of rape, there’s technically a chance that they are lying, but we automatically have to believe the victim due to the implications of us not believing them when they were truly terribly harmed or traumatized
@@junecooper7568 most "females" want to hold her accountable. Almost everyone talking about this wants her to be held accountable
@@Amsayy I seriously doubt that.

I am SO GLAD that you actually mentioned how integral the guys' partners are to the brand. Most of the other videos barely even mention them at all and ignore the fact that they do work for the company as well, and just label them as the partner.
“I think this situation has only been good for the try guys”
Honestly, I agree 100%.

I literally high pitch screamed when I got this notification. You are so so loved by us parasocial glow sticks. I hope you are well. 💜

Right it takes two to fucking tango. They both deserve the hate that they are getting.
If anything, there needs to be more Alex hate lol
100% wrong on so many levels. 1. The only person to say the relationship was consensual was Ned. No one has come out and stated how it actually went down. So don’t assume based off of that shitty man’s words. 2. Ned was her HR, he was her boss, he signed her checks 3. The try guys have come out and stated not to harass anyone involved. Imagine your mistakes being broadcasted everywhere and millions of people are judging you. That level of judgement and then harassment can push anyone to suicide. Leave Alex and Ned the fuck alone.
No one is babying them when they say “don’t harass them”.
And finally,
Strangers on the internet < the people in your life.

Also welcome back queen!
Hannah! So nice to see you again !! I hope your break was restful and calming.
This needs to go up in the comment section, the people babying Alex is fucking ridiculous and so unfair towards her fiance. Wtf
Yup, well said. 👏

They both suck :(
I'm sure this has been requested a ton, but I would LOVE to see you do "The Evolution of Jenna Marbles".
I remember hearing (maybe from their podcast) that it was ironically because of Ned that they maintained the IP. He was in a much higher position in buzzfeed than the rest of them, so when try guys was starting to be a series, and no longer a one off, he made sure that the control of the IP stayed with the Gus
Ned was actually in charge of the Intern program at Buzzfeed!

I've been following them for years, but I love being able to get a full condensed version from you!!
personally wouldnt go so far as to say it was nonconsensual because i think the implications of that are really big without sufficient concrete evidence. i do agree there is a power imbalance, and it puts into question the legitimacy of consent given by the woman.
but i think that by assuming that she had no choice, we are making the assumption that she was helpless and forced to do this, when the reality is that she could have chosen to switch jobs, tell someone, and not cheat on her 10 year relationship. she is a grown woman - which isnt to say that she cant be coerced, but staying in it for so long that the news came out from external sources? she didnt have to stay in the job, in this situation, she had plenty of time and just as many opportunities to do whatever it took to regain her integrity and loyalty to her partner and she didnt do it at any point.
Girl, no.
She was a grown adult who had a relationship with a man she knew was married
Yes there’s a power imbalance, but no that does not make her an innocent party in that dynamic.
I absolutely would love to see a video on the implosion of buzz feed. I have watched all the “why I left buzz feed” videos. A deep dive of buzz feed would definitely captivate my entire attention
Hey! So glad you uploaded again! I'll get the pop corn ready! Thanks for making these detailed dive-in videos. Hope you're doing well ❤❤
I'm ecstatic that you're back!!
I’m so glad you’re back! I’ve been watching Love is Blind 3 and was so sad that I wouldn’t get a 1.5 hour analysis of it from you
I strongly agree there's no way for a boss and subordinate to be in a consensual relationship. And it's concerning that so few people seem to understand that.
Omg I'm screaming with joy 😱. I've missed you DESPERATELY 😭
IM SO HAPPY YOURE BACK!! I can’t wait to hear your take and I was just wondering today if you’ve been watching the new love is blind season🤭
So glad ur back! Would love to hear your "evolution of Madison Beer." I feel like she's been through so many eras online since like 2013.
An adult can decide whether to have an affair with another adult.
completly agree
Not legally in HR terms. Especially when that individual is your direct reporting manager or is providing your pay or opportunities for promotion etc. There are literally forms you have to complete to declare a relationship between parties and you cannot be a supervisor/superior directly over a significant other - you have to either change departments or have another reporting manager.
You are so amazing Hannah, I’m not sure what you’re going through, but please know you are so loved!!!!!
I saw this notification and started histerically sobbing. I love you Hannah and I am so terribly happy your back.
💗💗💗💗
Great, the fact that you’re solving made me cry. Is it possible that we all just love each other too much? Lol I’m so happy that we are united by Hannah, I think we love her more than she’ll ever know.
Happy to see you back. A couple of things:
- Rhett and Link weren’t friends when they started their careers.
Didn't Rhett and Link meet in Elementary school?
Rhett and Link have been friends since 2nd grade. Otherwise agree with everything you said!
Hi Hannah! So glad to see you back. I'd love to see you do a video on the evolution of Brooklyn and Bailey. Hope you're doing well!!
I hope you are feeling better, Hannah! ❤
So glad you’re back! One of (if not) my favorite CZcamsrs. Missed seeing you, hope you’re well. 🤍🤍🤍🤍
So glad you’re back! I hope you’re doing amazing.
Midnights ranking/thoughts soon? 👀
So soon! 💓
But Alex isn't blame free.
i hope you’re doing okay queen 💜
So glad you're back! 💛
Also I've been wanting to say this about The Ned situation: he most likely called it a 'consensual workplace relationship,' so he wouldn't get slapped with harassment/SA allegations
I MISS YOU SO MUCH 😭😭😭 you got me thru peak season at ups last year and i'm so happy you're back
You dont think a grown woman is at all responsible for cheating on her fiance?
So excited that your back and with a classic banger of a commentary video, love it already
I am so sorry but all i see when i hear pivot is ross, chandler and rachel on the stairs with the sofa 😂 sorry i loved the video great as always
