    I really love Chaucer. He makes me feel happy and gives me a cheery outlook on life. Even his sadder poems.

    I find Middle English as a second speaker of English is somehow easier & more familiar with the current English than Old & Early modern English.

    Thank you mr Adam for your wonderful cultural literary channel. I gathered main information about topic you mentioned briefly as always. Middle English poetry is term means stage in history of English language during high and late Middle Ages , or roughly during four centuries between 11 and late 15 century. Characteristics of Middle English poetry it’s depiction of chivalry, religiosity and anonymous authors. Three broad streams of narrative verse in medieval England are poetry of Chaucer and his followers alliterative verse and metrical romance. Poems during medieval era were religious in nature . Father of Middle English poetry is Geoffrey Chaucer . Old English relied on alliterative verse for poetic structures rather than rhyme. Most important poets of Middle English period were Geoffrey Chaucer and John grower . Medieval poetry was often written in epic format and told stories of heroes completing tasks and defeating evil forces , usually monsters . Known poets during medieval era Dante Alighieri ( Italian poet and politician) , Geoffrey Chaucer ( famous as author of Canterbury tales) , John gower ( Chaucer rival and also famed medieval poet) and Giovanni Boccaccio ( Italian writer) . Medieval poetry is important because it’s can provide telling insights into values and emotional worlds of medieval community. Medieval poets called troubadours , trouveres,minnesangar are known for composing their lyric poetry about courting love usually accompanied by instrument. I hope you like my synopsis.
