This honestly sounds like a sad moment in a movie about American civil war or revolution but damn this is good
Or Pearl Harbor or D-Day
Or something in the future…
It happened in 1812. The War of 1812 was when the Anthem was written, but the US Captial was indeed burned down. And this could also be the Future if we're not careful.

@@DummyDuoGOAT I know the future of all nations is turning dark but let's hope the USA can reunite on the 2024 election we don't need something bad to happen to reunite. And for the other world nations there is hope on the people to let political divisions away.

It's not truly in minor the whole time, which is why it's unsettling.
It hurts my feelings that it’s that way

You are wandering through the wastelands of America. Everywhere lay bodies of civilians and soldiers. You are in search of food. You haven't eaten in days. This might be your last Day.
The sun sets.
And there, on An heavily damaged flag pole, waves the American flag one last time.

This song perfectly reflects our country right now. Broken, battered, divided. I live for the day that the United States are once again United. Where we are once again strong. I live for the day that I can be proud of what my country is, not what it once was.
Not really. Id say it was much worse (pre ww1). But yes i agree it is pretty bad right now, but that is necessary period we have to go through unless we start oppressing minorities now like we are a dictatorships.

When I clicked on this video, I thought it would be an instrumental version, no vocals. I was pleasantly surprised by the vocalist though, he truly sold the ambience. As the mood set in, I got chills at every phrase. I felt every ounce of this song, in the deepest manner I've ever felt. This composition made me realize a meaning to this song I never knew before. I will always and forever respect and love my country, and especially the anthem representing it. I hope this hit someone else the same way it hit me.

It did very much.

The body’s of patriots held that flag. The pole took direct hits and fell. Patriots came and held the flag up high. Everytime a patriot died, the body was removed and replaced by another patriot.

The Man of the High Castle prelude:
Siege of Norfolk+ Battle of Potomac, 1946
This is the best star spangled banner I've ever heard. love from Australia.
“It was a cold day in July… Independence Day as well. It seemed strange that the 300th anniversary of our nation would also be the day in which she took her last stand. I remember standing on the steps of the Capitol, rifle in hand, waiting. Just… waiting. The sound of combat could be heard all throughout the city. We’d been ordered to not retreat. We would stand here. Our radios informed us that it was already over. The Pentagon had fallen and with it all that remained of the top brass. It was such a quiet day, or at least it seemed that way. In truth the sounds of gunfire, bombs, and drone strikes rung out over the whole district in deafening volume. Maybe that’s why it seemed to quiet. As horrible as it all was, we were used to it now. The most ironic and yet someone fitting thing of all was that America hadn’t been toppled by her enemies. Instead, she had crumbled from within. We weren’t fighting some foreign invader, we were fighting each other. Every time I pulled the trigger I did so knowing that it meant another American, another one of my countrymen, another of my brothers, would die. There was so much blood on my hands… innocent blood, civilian blood, *American* blood. I did it all because I was following orders. I was told that the insurrectionists were monsters who didn’t believe in America anymore. I knew from firsthand experience that wasn’t true. A coup by General Macen had executed the president. They’d jailed anyone who was “a threat to our democracy.” Ironic. It was all one bud facade over a wannabe dictator’s grab for power. And I had helped him do it. I was just following orders.
My thoughts were interrupted by a direct hit to the Capitol dome. The Statue of Freedom came tumbling down. My squad mates screamed. Private Jennings had been hit by shrapnel, Sergeant Jamison had been badly burned by the explosion. I didn’t flinch. Freedom slowly began to fall, and she looked like she was going to fall on me. I was so tired of it all. I wanted out. I wanted to stop killing my countrymen.
I couldn’t believe that America had come to this, that she would fall. At the same time, I knew she would. It was inevitable. Freedom broke away and began plummeting down. I was just so tired. I dropped my rifle and simply raised my eyes. Freedom fell, and I closed my eyes, ready to die with her.”
That made me cry....
Best. Version. Ever.

Thank you for this

When listening to this i can think of 2 scenerios, the most popular one here, 2nd American Civil war, and the Fallout Universe, being a US Army Soldier in a remote base on October 23rd 2077 watching Nuclear rockets red glare rise to the sky from the silos and watch the Enemy bombs bursting o'er the Cities, standing there knowing he will die in minutes when the shock wave comes, standing there quietly singing that his flag was still there.
Someday... This country will come together. I have such a love for my homeland, I will stand by her forever and if need be give my life for her. One nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

“ year 2061 and rebel forces have breached the capitals defenses and we are the last line of defense and we just got word that the White House and some soldiers at the ww2 memorial is that is left defending the capital and are captain gave us a speech that sented me and the rest charging towards the rebels and we were wining and this gave time for the president, Vice President, and the speaker of the house to evacuate but us…… don’t worry we still see each other but in a better place

Not a matter of if, but when.. sooner than we probably think
It is only when the Anthem is put in a minor key, do people actually realize the true meaning of the lyrics.
The Star Spangled Banner was written by an American diplomat who was watching from a British ship as an American fort was bombarded with shells, mortars, and congreve rockets, along with a few other types of weapons.
Also, contrary to what many people will assume, the reasons that it says "the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there" does not mean that the flag was alluminated, but rather it is a reference to the british threat that they would bombard the fort until the flag was either removed, or it fell due to damage from the attack.
Furthermore, a side note is that by the next moring, the flag was litterally being held up by the bodies of those who fell at the foot of the pole
Underrated comment.
And also thanks for the explanation. Me, a Filipino, has learned something new about American history
Gosh who knew that me an American learned more about the flag
something school wont teach you
Next time somebody tells me the anthem was written by drunk sailors I will share this story.
I mean, technically it wasn't being held up by dead bodies, contrary to popular belief, because only 4 people died in the bombardment. It did however take a direct hit from a cannon and had a hole punched through the center of it.
This song would be used in a movie where america gives a last stand for independence, while being overwhelmed by the enemy on our own soil.

You find yourself in a military operation, called Operation Freedom Reign, this is a joint operation with the Marines, Army, and Navy, to recapture the DC metro area from (I’m guessing) Russian hands, when you reach the highway, your eyes widen as you see multiple dead bodies, military and civilian alike, side by side. As your convoy reaches the bridge that leads to DC, you would stop, looking around as it was too quiet, as you point in a direction, a shot rings out, and it hits you square in the chest. As you lay there on the floor, bleeding and tired, you hear the star spangled banner playing in the distance, as you close your eyes, you hear the words “Home of the brave” as your last breath leaves your body
We are the United States, not the divided states. What ever happened to being united? We hate other people for simply being a different political party? Or, hell, even the simplest of differences? We need to be better, not just the silly politicians, US! We need to be better, its a democracy for a reason!
