Can't believe I just diagnosed and fixed my air conditioner fault using your video! In years gone by I would have suffered in the heat, waited for hours for a technician then paid the invoice. Thankyou!
Already the second time I had to resort to this video to understand how to check the fault and how to reset the AC. Thank you very much! I hope this video stays up forever!
I’m from California, just started in the trade about 2 years ago. Running into a lot of these mini split. Didn’t even know these things existed 12 years ago. Great video explaining how to find the fault code.
Thank you so much! You just saved me $400.00 for the installer's electrician to come out and scratch his head and look at me like I'm simple minded. I put some potted boxwoods a foot in front of the fan and I'll try moving them to see if that solves the issue. I printed the codes -- which I couldn't find anywhere in the Daikin info I got after the install OR online. You're the best!
Oh man, you're my hero. Had a flashing light on my Daikin, and its going to be about a million degrees today. The instruction manual was useless - this video saved me! Thanks Fully Airconditioned!! (error was U4 - easily solved by flipping off at the main switchboard for 10 secs then back on).
Just had my Daikin A/C stop working today, between Christmas and New Year and 35 degrees outside. This video helped me find the error code, U4, [Malfunction of transmission between indoor and outdoor unit] Looking like some circuit board problem, I decided to do the basics, at the outside unit, I turned the isolator off for about a minute and then back on. To my delight, it is now running again. Thank you Fully A/C.
Just a quick note, I have only been living, renting this new home for less than a year and this is the second time our A/C has stopped. The first time the landlord got someone to fix it. Before this home we owned and lived in our home for 19 years, we installed a Fujitsu A/C to this home. The Fujitsu never stopped once. I will never buy a Daikin if I had the choice.
You guys are a bunch of legends. This video has solved my weeks of painful suffering through heat. I'm also in Canberra and fully intend on using you guys for any air conditioning related issues from now on.
Super easy! Thank you so much! I just diagnosed fault code U8 and fixed that fault on my heat pump using your video! And its working! Thank you for making this video with really easy instructions to follow!
Many, MANY thanks fro making that youtube. Today is 43 degrees and last night we had a black out. My aircon has not worked since. The instruction manuale gave no clue what to do but your video was like a personal tutorial. Bless you!!!!
Thank you for posting this! I was extremely frustrated and couldn't figure out what was wrong. Thought I'd have to invoice it. That was much easier than I thought it'd be. Thanks again!
Thanks for your great information. Every year is the same , when I want to start the air con , no go. Thanks to your informative video I can just turn off the circuit breaker , and back on again and it is fixed. Saving me a service call. Thanks. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Thank you. I had the u4 code and did what you said, turned off the power in the breaker box and by golly it is working. we don't need air conditioning here very much but today it is great.
That’s good to hear it running again, u4 fault is one of the most common faults on a daikin, it’s a communication error between the indoor and outdoor pc board. 95% it caused by power problem, like a brown out (supply power voltage too low or too high) if you have the reset the power and now working it should be fine, if it came back with a u4 fault straight away this means that the indoor unit can’t see the outdoor unit and there is a problem with connecting cables or the pc board ( no power) 👍🏻
Thank you this was so so helpful! I'm currently housesitting and had no idea how to fix it, it worked on first night and not the next. there was a green light on so I knew it was something simple but the manual guide just made no sence. Thanks again so much!
Thank You, Down Under! My AC had the exact same error code as in the video, but my error was caused by snow covering the outside unit. All is reset and working great. And yes, in anticipation of any questions like why I need AC when it's snowing, the AC unit is for a computer server room and needs AC 24/7. Again, thanks!
Thank you! Your video described exactly my symptoms and showed me exactly how to find my fault code in mere seconds! Well Done! Thanks as well to the link in the description to the fault code PDF - it is better than the one I received with my Daikin original documentation.
Hi there Craig,Thank you so much. Its boiling hot in Sydney - 35 degrees - October long weekend and I'm in west facing warehouse with huge windows. You can imagine how dreadful with a failed bedroom Daikin air-con which is now well over ten years old - implications...Anyway I am thrilled to report that following your simple instructions - had to attempt reset twice - the old boiler is back up and running (for now). Will leave it on to test. A really big thank you!! Anna
Thanks Fully Airconditioned, your video is sooooo helpful! The Daikin instruction manual was really useless, i had a U2 problem and you have saved me from calling a technician. Thanks again!
even though i wasnt using daikin, this video helped me in resolving the same issue. thanks man! Issue lasted for more than a month but now i got back my aircon
It was very helpful! I knew my device is much more recent but I tried the approach and it worked. First: kudos to the author of the video, and second: many thanks to Daikin for the backward compatible design!
thanks so much. i'm really ill right now, in cambodia where it's super hot, and aircon stopped working..but now it is again! i couldn't handle having technicians or my landlord coming/going today. must rest.
Hi, Great video! The fault (long beep) I have is "L5 - Inverter instantaneous overcurrent (DC output)". I also have a double beep for "L3 - Electrical box temperature rise" and "L4 - Malfunction of inverter radiating fin temperature rise". Is this something that will require a technician?
Great video guys! I came up with a U4 fault code - malfunction of transmission between outdoor and indoor units. I've recently had it rewired as it was on an illegal circuit. Any suggestions?
There is a button on the front of the unit (near the lights) that turns the system on and off, but it goes in to a preset mode, not the the current setting you had on the remote, so it will cool if its hot and heat if it cold.
Thanks so much for your helpful video, we learned how to fault find on the remote, this is really helpful but............ No Fault detected on our unit and the green lite is still flashing and it wont turn on. Also the pc board was replaced 2 years ago and the unit doesn't get much use as it's in a holiday house. Please Please Please Help as in Melbourne we are frying We appreciate all the advice we can get! Regards Toni
P4 fault is caused by a voltage reading above 4.96v or below 0.4v of the radiation fin thermistor, often a open circuited thermistor is the cause or poor contact. There is about 10 -12 thermistors on the outdoor unit, the one you should be checking is the one plugged in to S91 on the PC board and its thermistor R12T. Cross reference the temp to the measured resistance "check No 6" in the Daikin services manual, this should be carried out by a qualifier technician. Kind Regards
Hi Julia, Dose it have power??, Check the circuit breaker is turned on (like in the video where I turn on and off the circuit breaker in the switch board) check the isolator switch is turned on (should be located near the outdoor unit, not all installation will have a isolator). Could be an internal fuse, checking this should only be done by a licensed person with the correct training as the unit contains high voltage and could cause death, leave this to your local daikin dealer/repairer. Kind regards Craig Hewitt
My air conditioner is throwing warm air properly but not cooling...it only cools when it feels like! Can you please suggest a remedy? The gas was filled 1.5 years back only!
Good video, simple and to the point. I wonder when will all these HVAC companies will have a downloadable in full English explanation thru a USB cord to an iphone or iPad or PC . The technology is there and easily do-able for Gods sake... I’m just sayin’......
hvac01453 They have, Daikin and LG have a dongle you fit to the outdoor unit that Connect’s to your phone by wifi and gives you all the sensor temps, compressor speed, current draw, faults ect, but its a services tool for technicians. Kind regards Craig Hewitt
New Daikin air conditioners - one in living room second one in bedroom. Have not needed to use either much since installation about five months ago. Our apartment on 11th floor and exposed to high winds. Both machines develop a 'clopping' sound, both during operation and also when not switched on when exposed to strong wind. Any suggestions please?
Hello, what can I do for U4? I Have been told to turn the AC off at the circuit breaker, but I'm unsure of which switch is for the AC. I have a Daikin Air-conditioner ARC433A21 Model please, any help at all will be highly appreciated.
Hi, thanks for the video. Very helpfull. I have the error kode U0. From the list i see that this means that it has a "Shortage of Refrigerant". Does this mean I need a service man to come and fill up the refrigerant?
Thanks man, i did turn it off by wall switch, but didn't work, so i turned the breaker off for good 15 minutes and it fires up right away. it had communication error code, U4
Hi, multi or vrv units with flashing green light may mean you have one of the indoor units on cooling and the other unit on heating, they need to be set on the same mode for it to run. Kind regards craig
U4 is common, this fault can be caused by incorrect wiring or low/interrupted power supply (brown out). Reset the power if the fault still comes up check the into connecting wiring, if this is ok it's could be a faulty outdoor pc board, but most of the time it's caused by a brown out. Kind regards Craig
Hi thanks for your help, I have a daikin fvxs50 heat pump and I'm getting a u2 error the out door unit is not starting up the fan spins freely by hand, when I cycle power on and off I can hear a noise under the cover on the right hand side near the wiring sounds like electronics trying to tell it to start ? But it doesn't would you have any ideas? thanks Courtney
Hi thank you for the great video it's full of information I have a Diakin mini split air condition in the outside mainboard there is a green light 💡 flashing and the remote control doesn't show me any error code can you please tell me what the problem thanks in advance.
Goodmorning craig. I have a daikin multi point aircon with 4 head units and one heat pump outside. The aircon seems to be turning itself on by itself. I checked to see that the auto infrared sensor was off on all the controllers. I suspect the infra red motiondetection built in to the aircon is malfunctioning even when off. What do you think?
My error code was E7 just like the one in the video but nothing was in the fan. I turned off and then turned on the switch of outdoor unit. After that, the problem was fixed. Hope everyone watches this video can get their air con back to life.
I live in the coast... and my outdoor compressor/condenser unit have rust to nothing... I need a new driver board!!! DO YOU KNOW WHERE TO BUY PARTS??? Thank you very much in advance
My indoor unit just isn't switching on. The power reaches there, fuse on the PCB seems ok. Power is also reaching the outdoor unit. The PCB looks good, no visible burnouts etc. Any suggestions on what to look for?
Hi, I have a Daikin inverter, tried the code searcher with the remote and it double beeps with all "U" codes however never does the long beep? The green light is blinking continuously and air con/heating/fan doesn't work. If I turn it off at the mains for a length of time, it may work for a 15min and then stops working again (green light blinks). Also I have noticed the water pipe attatched at the bottom has come off, would this cause an issue? There is plenty of area for water to dissapate even without the pipe.
Can't believe I just diagnosed and fixed my air conditioner fault using your video! In years gone by I would have suffered in the heat, waited for hours for a technician then paid the invoice. Thankyou!
A trick: you can watch movies at Flixzone. I've been using them for watching loads of movies these days.
@Jad Luciano Definitely, have been using flixzone} for since november myself =)
Already the second time I had to resort to this video to understand how to check the fault and how to reset the AC.

Thanks Craig, after a power outage in area my split system was not working, I followed your trouble shooting & yay it's working!! Thanks so much :))

Hi Alexey Shchedrin, Yep DAIKIN’s fault finding process works on much older and far newer units.
Wow, that helped me big time. The heater didn’t work after power cycle but going through errors somehow restarted it. I had a long beep on E7 too.
What a great video-sorted out my aircon problems in a heartbeat....thank you! Much easier than trying to read through the manual

All good, glad we could help.
Your video was great help, (needed a shut down and restart from the main switch board only).
Thank you so much!!!
Beautiful explanation. God bless you abundantly brother
Thanks bro 😎
got an e7, outside unit just needed to be turned off and on again. great video, thanks
Thanks you so much it works 37c & I had the blinking light on the split system kept turning off . Did what you said & it’s 👍🏻up & running again 😀👍🏻

Thank you this is great. Sadly I diagnosed something that needed someone to come so doesn't help today U0 (low refrigerant). But at least I know.
Thank you very much, solved the problem for my family.
Hi and thanks for the video, helped to fix our A/C in a jiffy (it was a U4 comms error)

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Has been so hot & couldn't get my AC to work. Awesome video, thanks......
Very helpful. Thanks
No worries!
Thanks ❤️ 1love from San Juan Puerto Rico USA 🏖️'!!!;).
Hey 😀 and welcome anytime 💕❤️🏖️
U4 is common, this fault can be caused by incorrect wiring or low/interrupted power supply (brown out). Reset the power if the fault still comes up check the into connecting wiring, if this is ok it's could be a faulty outdoor pc board, but most of the time it's caused by a brown out.
Kind regards
Craig
Resetting the power seems to have done the trick for my U4. Many thanks, I think the posters in this comments section collectively owe you many beers.

I say cheers to that !!

What do you think?
Thank you so much for making this video. It helps a lot!
My error code was E7 just like the one in the video but nothing was in the fan. I turned off and then turned on the switch of outdoor unit. After that, the problem was fixed. Hope everyone watches this video can get their air con back to life.
