- 2018 Nissan Sentra auto brake sensor in the bumper defective cause auto brake malfunction warning to stay on when driving..its known issue but cost to owners pricey..hope helps someone out there. The fix is to have the distance assist sensor replaced...to be safe I would recommend certified Nissan repair...there is a TSB from Nissan about this issue ..ALSO known a Technical Service Bulletin..

this is the front sensor for the aew braking you can go into settings each time you start your car to turn it off other wise you have to pay the dealer 195 to just say all we did was reset the sensor i just had a tiny medal object just hit m,y sensor that tiny little box thingy on the drivers side

damn this is exactly what my 2019 sentra started doing today! 5 minutes after I left the dealership after getting routine oil change and tire rotation. They also replaced the brake light switch from the recent 2021 Nissan recall PM971 - which is clearly causing this problem since I haven't had any issues previously. Had to take it back twice in same afternoon. They claim to have fixed it...but light (but no noise) came back on again a 3rd time (along with traction control light?) when I was almost home...
I just left the dealership and it came on 10 min later.. no noise just light. FANTASTIC
Btw after bringing it back again to the dealership and getting a loaner for a couple days this was fixed! Paper work says problem was that the “ASCD was misadjusted”

I have a 2018 sentra now with 91000 miles. I drive to Manhattan every day. I wish I bought a corolla bc this car gave me so many problems. The transmission needs to be replaced, that auto brake sensor I've had replaced twice, plus the brake switch twice bc the car wouldn't start with the push button.

@@jukeboxhero8137 From what I've read, the sensor needs to be replaced and it is expensive. For now, we just turn it off every time we drive it.

I just started having this issue and I didn’t have it until I took it in for the recall that they just had on it. I have a 2018 Nissan Sentra. I didn’t have any problems like this with my car before I took it in for the recall. Now I do it pisses me off.

I just bought a brand new 2020 Sentra brand new 20 miles on it hasn’t been used I’ve had it for a month driving down the street at night by myself all the sudden that malfunction thing went off now my lane departure doesn’t work road signs don’t work pretty much none of the sensors work so I was googling and found that the Nissan has a lawsuit against them over this shit I just bought it so I’m covered but I’m kind of pissed

Its the Distance assist sensor they are sold online or the dealer very pricey...also nissan knows about the issue hope this helps you👍

I just had the brake light sensor fixed for the recall a few weeks ago. I was driving down the road yesterday and my car would not accelerate past 40 miles an hour. All the sudden the warning malfunction light went off with the same dash picture. I re started the car and it drove home fine but now I’m like damn what now. lol. I have an appnt for service next weekend. I only have 10,000 miles on this car. Dang. I have a 2019 Nissan Sentra btw.
This is exactly what is happening with my car. I need to get the recall part. Then all of a sudden I got this and the same thing it won't accelerate either.
@@cassondramartinez4170 I was so lucky no one was behind me because I was cruising and then it just stopped accelerating and I was then traveling at a snails pace on a very fast road. I was literally just in there three weeks ago and now this crap. Before they fixed the brake switch recall it would sometimes start and sometimes not. This is nuts on a brand new car 😅 I will update what they say when I take it in next weekend. My warranty is up April 2022 and this has me really nervous.

@@cassondramartinez4170 I hope they get it fixed for you! Yes it is a real safety issue. I can’t believe the part has been on back order as well. They told me they are only installing it in cars that have an active issue due to it and that the error codes state that it’s the brake switch. If not they won’t have parts for everyone until the fall. So crazy!

I figured out how to disconnect the sound. I just uploaded a video showing how. It's right behind glovebox. It's a little box speaker thing that says 6 ohms on it but ohms is the symbol

It's in the description they replace the sensor and nissan has special software to program it after that the technician supposed to test drive the vehicle and verify its fixed .

You most likely have a dirty or beaten ABS sensor. The radar sensor depends on all abs sensors being in good working order.
Ok but how do you clear it or turn it off? Is that even a possibility without replacing the expensive ass sensor?
Hi Deb - go to your car settings > Driver Assist > Uncheck it and you should be good to go.

Hi everyone I got the same issue but my warning comes of once I turn off the car and turn it back on the dealership said they can't check it unless the warning light is on cus their computer won't be able to read any codes 😭 this is so annoying anyway just wanted to know how it got fix cus mine came out after the dealer made the oil change and fix other stuff 🙄
The sensor in the right front grill has to be replaced after that nissan has to program to work properly again...it only takes 1hr to replace and program hope this helps

Mines had the same thing it could be the sensor in the front but mine's was actually the brake switch right above the brake somehow the Locking piece got broken which was it easy fix was $8 or sometimes your brakes which is just worn down from breaking too much go out and get a new brake switch or just jiggle it around that works also sometimes but look under there to see what's really wrong cuz that's what was wrong with easy fix

I have 2020 sentra same thinh is happening.
Try jiggling the brake switch its located above your or take a look down to see if it's in properly or replace the brake switch thats what I did cheap and easy fix also nissans are built to break down unless you got a base one with crack window those last forever once you reach like 30000 miles to 40000 they start falling apart my opinion get a used lexus is a fun reliable car that last up to 300000 to 400000 miles

Hello everyone! I, have had my beautiful 2018 Sentra SR "Lady Blue Jay" since March 28th, 2018. TWO DAY off the showroom floor my "SENSOR LIGHT" came on. I took it back to the Dealership three times within one week. I made the Dealership order me a NEW SENSOR for my car since it was under warranty! The most aggravating thing is that when the sensor light comes on... I CANNOT use my cruise control at ALL!!!🤔😡. Since two months ago I only had 11,300 miles on my car 🚗. Yes, only 11,300 miles and we are in 2022. Today I had to drive to the city, around trip was 90 miles. Yes PLEASE BELIEVE the light came on 15 times.... When I could turn the car off and restart it... The lights kept coming on stating "MALFUNCTION SEE OWNER'S MANUAL". THIS WAS 👎 NOT COOL! I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER NISSAN 😤. THIS IS AGGRAVATING!!! NISSAN SHOULD SEND A FIELD MASTER TECHNICIAN TO HANDLE THESE PROBLEMS!!! Customer Service is NOT the same anymore.

The video was to show the issue the problem is the sensor in the bumper lower right corner when replaced at local nissan they also have to program it and recalibrate it as well ..it is also in the top description edited..

Mine is doing same thing right now after hit something and broke front sensor. Now I need to know how to disconnect the beep. This is the dumbest thing Nissan could do. It's not an important thing to drive car but of course it's beep makes it seem like it is
