Ah...yes...the redesign and rebuild is exhausting! Way to fight through to get what you want. (That's 1 point...escape!). Nice job with the multi-faceted couch shape design!
Thank you so much! It was hard but we are happy we re did it!
A bar of soap is an excellent lubricant on wood. Your such a good, knowledgeable builder with a sense of humour. Awesome, I love your videos. Cheers!
That is a great idea! Thank you so much!
Absolutely fantastic! That is quite a mind bender to think about the 3 dimensional movement on that couch/lounger/bed! We give you mad props for thinking through what was happening, adjusting, and overcoming the hurdle! That is fortitude! As for making the rails slide smoother, grab a white pure paraffin wax candle (or a block of unscented, uncolored paraffin wax) and rub it on the surfaces of the wood that slide against each other. The light coating of wax will reduce the amount of friction between the wood allowing them to slide against each other smoother! As for the slat ends that were colliding against the back rail... if they are still catching a little, use your sander (as you mentioned) or put a wood flap disk on the angle grinder to bevel or curve the edge where the catch is happening on both the rail and the slat so that they don't meet head-on. Rather, they will meet with a beveled surface towards each other to guide each other over.
You two work so well together and we love seeing your home come into reality! Before you know it, you'll be able to move in and ride into the great outdoors (where we'll see ya fo sho!)
Keep rocking it because it's turning out great no matter how hard the struggle is!
We believe in you and love seeing how you think about every different angle of things!
Your Skoolie friends,
- Brian + Erin
Thank you guys so much!! Always look forward to your response and tips! Those are all such great Ideas and the wax sounds like the perfect solution! Thank you!!!
Looking forward to your kitchen cupboard build.. that's what I'm anticipating for my build. Another great video ☺️

How so three people dislike this? Y’all must be crazy because this is hands down some of the most transparent, reasonable, and understanding videos out there in the skoolie comm. hats off and hands down y’all are doin it right!
Wow that is such a great compliment! Thank you so so much and that means a lot!
I love that you showed your mistakes. I love that you didn’t just “live with it.” You guys rock!
Thank you! We try to include the good and the bad!
Excellent job on the couch !!! It looks amazing !!!
Thank you so much!!

I havent watched in a while but i will say very nice your bus is already better than a lot i have seen
Thank you very much!!
Thanks for sharing! You guys always show “real” content and very helpful advice! I’m stealing some of your ideas for Calliope Marie!
Wow that is awesome! I cant wait to see how it turns out! Thank you
I get frustrated so easy.. my project has really tested my patience but it's been a good learning experience on reframing my frustration, taking a break, and coming back with a fresh mind.
That is such a great thing to hear and the best way to think about it!
This is Genius!!! Thanks so much for sharing! 🙌
You're so welcome!
wow!! Awesome thank you for sharing that it is hard work and not everything works out.. Im building love this couch/bed idea thanks 😊
You are so welcome! And thank you
Your videos give me hope.thank you both.
That is so great to hear thank you!
WOW! SO COOL!
Thank you, Laura, we are really happy with it!
Holy wow! You guys rocked this! Even with the moment of struggles... The victory was so sweet! Lol love how you drop a star fish on the pull out as soon as you were done! That's my girl! Lol Brian goes... ”haha Meredith does that too! How does she know that move as well!?” I always do that! As soon as Brian leaves bed in the am... Star fish! So proud of you lady! You guys are going resilient! That's why this takes! Staying power through the tough tuff! High five! Keep it up! You give me so much courage to pick up the saw, do stuff without help, and go full on! - Erin and of course Brian too
Hahaha that's my move!!!! I gotta sleep like that for sure ahaha! Thank you guys so much for the continued support, Erin you can starfish on my couch any time!!
Nice job guys! The only thing I'd done differently is cut the bottom ends of the slats (starting half way) at a 45 deg. angle to eliminate the need for spacers and ripping the end stops in half to get a little more width. I like your idea of maybe adding a hinged leaf to add width as well. Doing great, keep it up!
Thank you so much! That is a great idea!
Check out these guys, you can buy thin rolls or sheets pre cut of PTFE (Teflon) to glue down to make things slide smother. www.eplastics.com/sheets/ptfe
Looking great.
Thank you!
good job 👏🏾. i like.
Thank you! We are so glad you like it!
Well done!
Thank you!
When the humidity goes down they will slide easier. Rub the sliding boards with bar soap the slide and seal.
Doing a great job!
That is a great idea, thank you for the tip!!!
Good job looks great
Thank you so much!
Buenos dias familia. Muy Buenos videos. Los felicito.
Muchas Gracias Papito!
Bus is looking amazing guys, to think how much of a struggle it was at first and how you have progressed is amazing. I remember telling you at the start when you were low on Motivation how it would all start coming together. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much!! Yes you have been watching the struggles since the beginning thank you!
Omg 😳. We will be redoing my bed for the third time. The first time I had the same issue. This was perfect.
Aw man I am sorry to hear that, hopefully it helps to know your not the only one!
Good job! Kudos!
Thank you so much Peggy!
Love your videos guys can't wait for the next
Thank you so much! Cant wait!
That really looks great! We like how you can change it. Definitely going on our list of must haves!!!!
Thank you! We are so glad you like it
Y’all did great! Basically EXACTLY what we want to do with ours. Thanks for the troubleshooting tips!!
That's awesome! So happy we could get all the mess-ups out of the way for you ahaha
It looks awesome! Make sure to seal both ends of those slats (end grain) so it doesn't absorb humidity differently than the faces and warps the wood. Also, I like using Minwax Furniture Paste Wax after it is all said and done. It'll slide like butter! Great work! Cheers!
Hey, Thank you! Those are both fantastic Ideas! We will make sure to do that
G'day it's really coming along, when you came to the hinge I thought to myself I hope they use a piano hinge, and Wow great!! Your doing great kind regards John PS good the way you staggered the screws into those 4x2 saves cracking, splitting.
Thank you so much John!!
Did you guys steal our couch idea😂. Going to be doing something similar. Great job guys, the bus looks amazing! I bet you’re getting quite excited😉. Keep up the great work
HAhah we didn't try to! Thank you so much, cant wait to see yours!
MEREDITH and PACO I’m glad u guys did it first😂. Keep at it guys, you’re so close! It is so much work though.. we are taking off to the oregon coast tomorrow. Need a break from the bus and housework.. and just a long year in general. Follow us on Instagram.. thewonderboybus. We will make sure to post some cool stuff. Might have to send u a poop book too😂 Tell Erin happy bday! Take care guys, hope to meet y’all down the road soon! Cam and Kat
👍🏻😁
Thanks!!
cut a small 45' on the end of each board then they will slide all the time..
Great Idea lisa!
i think the camera had a pretty bad day that day falling on the ground a few times have lumber land on him left behind on the rearseat and some other stuff that probably never made it to the video
the couch turned out great , think you need yo add some l brackets or schelf support brackets
static.gamma.nl/dam/22782/22
to the inside of the legs of the slideout (probably need to make some room for them so they fit when the slides are in )
having the legs just but joined and screwed on from the top whont cut it
We try lots of different angles with the camera for sure ahah!
What you have learned by mistakes!!! 😊
So very true!!
