Dad was really fighting back those tears. I'd love this to be shown to fathers struggling with addiction, behavioral issues, or even just troubled young men. I can see this making a radical positive impact.

We are all talking about the daughter but I think the father deserves some appreciation as well. He clearly has reflected upon himself, knows how to give great advice, and clearly loves her a lot. You can see it from the way he tries to hold his tears back. His words beautifully connect too. I hope this family thrives and both kids success in life

This is so touching. This little girl reminds me of myself as a child. I'm a 70 year old grandmother, who is still that little girl who never had a father because he was murdered at the age of 22. Girls need their fathers, all children need their fathers.

I’m just so happy all this is happening now when she’s young. She doesn’t have to grow up and be a 20 something year old lady dealing with daddy issues. The pain happened in her childhood and it’s getting resolved in her childhood. awesome ❤️

She is still at that tender age where a separation with a parent is so baffling and unexplainable, even with other adults in her life's explanations and guidance, it can only manifest as pure unadulterated sorrow. As she grows, she will learn and understand more of his situation and circumstances, which will paint a clearer picture for her. It's up to him what that picture evolves into. I had eyes like that once, although it wasn't until I was 25 that I got to fill in so many blank spots. Unfortunately for me, my father didn't turn out to be quite so strong at bettering himself, in whatever things he needed to. Luckily, this gentleman seems to not be as much of a danger in that regard. And to be honest, 9 year old her looks a lot stronger that 20+ me, at least as far as fathers go.

All kids are usually so much more in touch with their feelings and emotions as young kids until around the age 13 or 16 when they start to become tainted by the world and how the world tells us all to keep our emotions to ourselves or else you'll look basically unstable. It'd be awesome to live in a world where we didn't all have to lose our sense of emotion or have to hold it in to be "appropriate" and to not be viewed as "weak" or "overly emotional" This is what makes children so honest, genuine and in touch with themselves, HATE that as human's we lose those things as we get older and hide our feelings as a defense mechanism as well. Sad, but beautiful that children still get to experience this emotional freedom

But only in that sense, as we do acknowledge the importance of the natural parent/child order. Sometimes children can really surprise us with the treasures within them 😊

This was great. My dad and I would do this almost weekly and there are intense questions that would come up. It made us closer and stronger. I wish more people would do it. This young lady see her father in a high regard but you could tell how much it pains her to lose him. Their love and bond is there.

She is full of pain. I wouldn't be able to sit across from her and just ask random questions. I would have to hold her and ask her what the pain is saying, apologize for my shortcomings, validate her feelings and ask her how can we make this relationship better.

In life you need to have hard conversations and open and sometimes that makes people emotional. I am sure they had a moment afterward but this was about not hiding behind the hugs and comfort of a loved one and being open.

Honestly I think she has so much faith in him that she is hurting because she knows he is hurting. From his point of view, he let her down and he wants to be the best father to her possible. She just doesn't want him to feel guilty and let that guilt hold him back from loving and enjoying their time together. She is a wise girl with a lot of empathy. His fight to keep the tears in while hers flow freely tells me she is also crying his unshed tears. I hope they grow past the hurt and guilt, till there is only love.

When she tells him that he's 'actually a great parent' you can tell it hit him pretty hard. He doesn't cry and he does moves onto the next question but just the movement of his lips shows that he was holding back something. He most likely feels that he doesn't deserve that, but is so happy that his baby girl thinks that...

This makes me so sad because my daughter who only just turned 5, is asking me tough questions about her father, l didn’t even know she was thinking so many things. Asking why we no longer live in the same house and everything. I don’t know how to handle it without hurting her feelings. Even though she still sees and speaks to her dad she feels he is not around enough.
@@sweetonet4867 My heart breaks for you. I pray her father can answer some of those tough questions personally...maybe it will help to light a different fire under him to make sure he does his best to be there for his dtr. But mama bear, all you can do is pray (hope that doesnt offend you), love your baby and talk to her as truthfully as you can. It will hurt no matter what but her knowing you (and hopefully other support ppl as well) as a constant in her life will be salve for her wounds. She's see & know to trust in her mama's love. Praying your strength and wisdom with your baby. You got this mama bear🙂
@@blkgm7005 thank you. I am worried though, she actually gets really angry about him. Like i will tell him call her and she expects that call every day she gets mad and says her dad is being mean to her. She doesn’t like sleeping in her own room anymore either.. if i demand she does in the morning she wakes up with fast beating heart like she was panicking all night. She even miss our old tv we shared with her dad.. so much she remembers from she was 2 years old.. its creepy but i just wish he was more expressive. He also has daddy issues.
I wonder if the producers told him that he can’t hug her as they’re talking because I just don’t understand why he can’t comfort her. It’s extremely difficult to watch a crying child not be consoled. Especially as you ask her such deep questions. This is the only thing that drives me crazy about their talk, even four years later.

Fathers , children need you all, they have hearts , feeling, needs that only a father can give. Thanks for the video. Children are loving and forgiving, their hearts must be handled with care because if broken will be hard to repair

You could tell from the beginning that baby girl had a lot on her mind 😭 these two have my heart! I can tell that she just wants more memories with her daddy.

This hit home for me! I was her age when my father was in prison and 16 when he was released. It took some time to heal and restore our relationship but I'm so happy to see we're at a great place. I love seeing this!!!!!

One day, if I have kids and a husband, I will do this every month or every two months. It is important to listen and talk about the feelings in the family, I want my kids to be able to express how they feel... I wish my family talked more about our feelings, because that's really important.

When she explained why her dad is her best friend and immediately starts crying, it's bittersweet. If I had a daughter, I don't want to see her cry, but I know it's coming from a place of love. Those are happy tears, and it's a beautiful thing.
I watched this when it first came out but never realized how amazing she is for letting herself be vulnerable/ show her vulnerability and emotions with the world. Upmost peace n luv to babygirl
