Ep19 Our last day in Finland - an emotional goodbye to my family

- We spent about a month and a half in Finland. Saying goodbye to family is never easy, especially after spending wonderful holidays together and we don't even know about our next visit to Finland. Little Annika had the time of her life with her auntie Nina and grandma, and I am sure she will remember this. This trip was important mainly for Annika as this was the first time she got to meet her mother's side of the family and see her other native country. After this, we began our long journey back home to India and Kerala.

I am not a big fan of vlogs but I regularly followed this Finland series because it was so good to see a new country through the eyes of someone discovering it for the first time (Vinod) and through the words of someone who loves and misses it (Johanna). Thank you for sharing this trip with us even though I felt a little voyeuristic going on that couple-time when Annika went off with her grandmother and aunty. I hope the footage was only a small part of that hour and you got some time to yourselves. ❤️
This wins "THE BEST VIDEO" title in this series, hands down! There was a certain mysterious charm to this video that was not seen or heard; but was profoundly felt. Was it the "alone-time" with Vinod (strewn throughout with many silent moments)? Was it the recap at the end (presented within a very thoughtful white frame)? Was it the thought of having to leave soon looming over? Can't tell. But this one was very different from the earlier Finnish episodes. And the choice of background music was awesome.👍🏽🙏
On a lighter note, it was good to hear Annika's shrieks, and to see the family members one more time, especially, Raimo! 🙂

I know where ever life takes us , we are still always attached to the place where we have grown up, studied n all , the lanes on which we have walked with our grandparents n all ..

If this series was enjoyable, a lot of credit must also go to Vinod for his camerawork, in spite of his being, I assume, an amateur (beginner?). He has the knack of good visual storytelling with the framing and capturing different aspects of a scene. Not easy, especially when you are also a participant in the events.
I agree with you..Vinod has captured some beautiful scenes. The Finnish vlogs, have some of the best visuals. Johanna's inputs are there too...the background music and notwithstanding her other details. All in all, I feel it gives a nice poetic touch to the snow-laden winter wonderland. ❄💙❄

Dear Johanna: I have really enjoyed your Finland series. You did an amazing job introducing us to your family, the culture, food, sights and scenery of Finland. I am very glad that you had a little alone time with Vinod. It was very sweet seeing you both together having some alone time. Sweet Annika was growing before our eyes and soon she will be walking independently if she's not already. Saying goodbye is never easy, but you have wonderful memories that will last a life time. I love that little red shed by the road. I also love the picturesque view from the window with the yellow house when it was snowing outside and Anika was watching from the crib. You really captured all the magic of the winter peacefulness of Finland’s countryside very artistically.

Thanks so much for taking us along on your journey home to Finland. What a beautiful country it is. It was especially nice to see it during the festive season, everything was so picturesque. Vinod did so well on his first attempt at ice skating. He took to it like a duck to water and Annika just loved those slay rides. @@JohannaNorth Oh! Summer in India is very hot...I know. I went to the foothills of the Himalayas, it was better there but on the plains, it was pretty unbearable. Esp for your family coming frm the cold climate it can be very challenging

I'm only missing Annika. I live in Kolkata and if God wishes, I would like to meet Annika some day in Kerala. At least I can dream of that because except the last 2 years I visited South India almost every year. I go to Auroville, pondicherry and spend my holidays in silence and tranquility. You can also visit the place if you ever wish for the same.
