Ep18 - My dream house in Finland, farmer's market & best views in Tampere

  • We've been dreaming of buying a house for a very long time now. Since we are still undecided about which country to settle in, it makes things a little more complicated. I want to spend our time equally between our two countries - India and Finland. Also, now that we have a small baby in the family, all our decisions have to be taken with Annika in picture. Whether to live in a big city or a small village community - these are big questions. Anyway, this video isn't exactly about house hunting but spending some quality time with family at a village christmas market, and another day at a beautiful residential area in Tampere. I hope you love the views and can relate to the struggles of deciding where to live :)

The moment Annika arrived at the airport in Finalnd, despite the jet lag, I could see the way she was feeling at home, she has more of the Finnish blood in her, and she braved the cold as well. For unmatched education and a serene way of life and a certain quality of living, Finland is where you have to invest, even a small house, do so now, it might become expensive later. In India we do not know how to balance our assets we hoard too much in sentimental stuff, and therefore do not invest or divest in assets which are likely to give you that comfort in later life which gold, land or some other stuff cannot. Go for it, a house in Finland, somewhere in between your sister and mother's. I have heard houses are very expensive in main cities, I would rent in India at low prices, save monthly and invest right away in a better house in Finland, anytime.

Our criteria when looking for a home were working, living, shopping and walking. But if you have children, education is also important. You will have to choose and if I were in your place I would definitely stay in India. And once you buy a house, you are usually tied to a loan. All changes in your life course must then give way to material bondage. So be brave and rent a house. Your complicated but oh so beautiful family circumstances would suffer from stagnation anyway, don't get stuck in one place. Keep your flexibility. Our worries: www.youtube.com/watch?v=If61baWF4
