Compared to the old models they added AV1 codec and upgraded to 4GB ram.
I have the UHD3000 and the DAC built into it is phenomenal. The DAC alone is worth $600. A 2 HDD NAS usually costs $300 or so.
I Have this unit also it kicks ass. To me it is just as good if not better than the Zappiti and it's cheaper

Thank for the great review.I have a zidoo z20 pro for about 3 months, and just ordered uhd5000 and z9x pro for other rooms. I'm going to use uhd5000 as my main as soon as I receive it, but my question is I have a synology NAS in my system, how do i have or save the exact movie posters which I fixed and matched already on my z20 pro so I don't have to go through matching and fixing all my movies all over again? So I can see the exact same settings and library on all devices. All will be on the same network and by the way my synology ip already saved on my router. Do I need to do anything specific first, before I get my other two units started? Thank you.
I believe there is a way to save all your meta data and share them across multiple devices…I think…Let me try and look into that.

Do these Zidoo products allow to use external usb multi bay hdd enclosures? I have one with USB 3.1 connection
I havent tested that, but I dont see why not.
The only difference between the z9x pro and z20 pro is the drive bay for the hard drive. The performance is the same between all 3 devices. The biggest update to the z2000 Pro over Z9X Pro and Z20 Pro is the power supply for Audio purposes . If you are using your NAS there is no need to spend any more money on the higher end models.
I think the HDMI 2.1 is worth the upgrade though. That’s if everything in your chain is also 2.1.
@@hatoraidcowboy I was actually referring to the Pro models. But yes I agree. I keep going back and fourth between the Z9x Pro and z2000 pro strictly because I like the chassis of the Z2000 Pro but keep telling myself I would be paying double just for a look of a device LOL. I would never us the internal bay nor do I use it for music.
@AaronHamm-co7fm Ah ok. Yea I actually want a drive bay this time for a little quicker access and to be able to swap out testing files without affecting the files on my server.
@@hatoraidcowboy Something I did was add a SD card to my Z9X and I have all the posterwall and cache use that. This made a huge difference. With 90% of my movies being ISO files I was unable to see any improvement when I tested putting a ISO on a drive and playing it or streaming it over my network. Note I have a really nice Unifi network with all my switches being 10g switches and I have the Zidoo and the Unraid NAS plugged in the same switch. Granted the Zidoo isn't 10g but I have noticed having hardware that can handle this perform better with the lower 1g speeds. But I have updated my NAS to dual 10G cards with load balancing so I really don't have any buffering because of all the overhead I have created.
@AaronHamm-co7fm Wow! Thats a pretty powerful setup. I dont have buffering issues but I will look into adding an SD card for poster wall and cache.
The DAC is only for music though. Movie is unwatchable because the delay in audio is hard to fix using the audio delay settings. The 4K movies are pretty unwatchable using the DAC.
Did you get the Zidoo? I just ordered the Z9X PRO 4K, I don't need HDD bays since I'm going to install a NAS. I'm looking forward to your review once you get yours and get it going.

Which new Zidoo player are you gonna pick up?
I'm ordering a z2000pro. I like the look and it seems pretty futureproof. I first will be using external drives, than go the internal hd or nas route so i can rip all of my blu rays and 4k discs.

Hello, i just purchased a zidoo z9x pro which I love but have a few questions about the samba server. Please could help me if you can?
If I enable the samba server does this expose my pc? I will only be using it to send to files locally however I don't want to cause big issues. Is there any security measures I need to take once enabling the samba server? Thanks.
Its just a file sharing server on your network. Doesnt expose you to outside networks

I'm so confused!;-) I'm probably going to get one of these, I just haven't figured out which. I don't really need the drive bay because awhile back I bought a NAS, I don't have it set up yet but I have it. I'm willing to pay a little more for quality enhancements but it sounds like they all use the same chip. Also any useful user interface enhancements are worth a few dollars more. I don't think I need the balanced out, I recently bought the Marantz AV10 so I figure it might have better DAC's anyway. It's a tough choice! I'll be interested to see which one you get and your review of it.

It doesn't look good for any free time but at some point I'm going to need a foot surgery, maybe October or November. I'm going to milk that for all it's worth, I'm sure my doctor won't have a problem telling my company I need at least four weeks off to recover. That's when I'll make progress on the theater!

@@hatoraidcowboy It's not that big a deal, that foot was ran over by a hay ride trailer when I was a kid. They patched it up at the time (early 1970's) but it started having problems when I got old. Had a big surgery on it in 2017 and a minor one early 2022, just one more minor one should have it all fixed up. The one in 2022 I wasn't suppose to put a regular shoe on it for at least two weeks but I was in a regular shoe in the garage working on stuff for the theater literally 5 hours after the surgery. I figure this one will be about the same.
Yeah car problems always suck, hopefully yours doesn't have too serious an issue so they can get it going for you without costing a fortune.
