Intro by Toros Kose: toroskose.com/ - Hry
Canadian pro-wrestler and keen woodsman, Wolf Hawkfield, can bite off huge chunks of your lifebar at a time with both his throws and combos. A fundamentals focused chatacter, what Wolf lacks in pressure strings he makes up for in raw, unbridled damage. 🐺
And that wraps up our VIrtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown overviews! As always a massive thank you to Wireman: twitter.com/WireManFGC and Blessy: twitter.com/BlessyVF for their help. We're now working on a big compilation video of this series which includes more detail for many characters and an extra layer of polish. 10年早いんだよ!
Wrestling is the ultimate sport, AWOOOOOO
Roofle! Love your videos man.
Could not agree more.
i thoroughly enjoyed this VF character overview series. I wish each vid was twice as long though hehe. such good material.
I wish you could go in-depth with them like Tekken with some of the pro players.
Basic strats should come first though like using jabs elbows and throws
"To be strong is...*flexes* beautiful"
That was one of the lines that sold me
Beautiful animations and super deep gameplay to this very day... nothing else quite like Virtua Fighter.
I'd like to make a correction: EVERYONE is a grappler in VF (though of course some are better than others)
"To be strong is beautiful"
Not counting the horrible audio it is a nice saying...
Seriously, what is up with that? VF is such a good game, but the voice lines have such a weird audio quality to them.
Looks like they're lowering audio quality on purpose. There are even some audio from VF1-VF2 era. While I found this low quality sound effects... an interesting choice, I hope they'll update them and hide it in the options menu like they did it with old OSTs in FS in case someone wants them back.
@@rampant1apart they recorded that line in 2009 at the earliest. Some of them go back as far as vf THREE.
@@Neogears1312 Woooow, I didn't realize they were THAT old. Crazy!
I think wolf’s most underrated quality is his combos. First off he’s falsely written off as having none, but even then most of them work on everyone, even taka needs little changing. It’s pretty strong to have consistent flow charts regardless of who you’re fighting.
This series is awesome! Thanks so much for shining some light on VF. From VF1 to VF4 Evo, my main was always Akira and Wolf as my sub. At the start of VF5, I made the switch to Wolf as my main and never looked back. Nothing is more satisfying than making the right reads and making your opponent nervous haha. Keep up the great work!!!! Respect!!!!
Yo, that art style at the end is something I never knew I needed in my life! Being an artist myself, I’m looking forward to seeing the illustrations in entirety. 👍🏾💯
Glad you chose the correct win quote :)
Great vid per usual!
Before the Jaguar Masked hero we know and love in Tekken, there was Wolf Hawkfield in Virtua Fighter.
EDIT: A little typo correction.
The name Shining Wizard comes from Wolf's move being actually called that in the game. Easy to forget that King's SW in Tekken is actually called Tomahawk.
💯% true.. 🤗
@@NeilMacay Oh yeah! I forgot to mention one thing! There are a lot of moves taken straight out from Wolf's and given to King. Shining Wizard, the Giant Swing, and I'm not sure what else.
They'd be a hell of a tag team in the ring.
@@MoonlightStrider Wolf x King , Wolf x Tina or King x Tina either of these would be sick always love these type of tags grappler in 3d games hope someone make it happen.
These have all been excellent man, thanks for doing them! I enjoyed these overviews on my favorite 3-D fighter. I love the love and respect that you've shown towards the series even tho you're a Tekken guy.
''BUUUUUUURRRNINGG HAMMEEERRR''
lol, i was thinking of him saying that while watching this video
hurts just thinking about it /ptsd intensifies~~/
I heard it and it gave me ptsd
"SLASH!!"
How could you not appreciate Arya’s puns?
That win quote won me over. Its hard not to pick a wrestler with good charisma!
His fighting style is reminiscent of wrestlers such as "Captain" Lou Albano, Robert Rudolph "Sgt. Slaughter" Remus, Hulk Hogan and "Macho Man" Randy Savage.
That artwork!
i dont even play virtua fighter but im here to still support this great channel
You should to appreciate it more.
@@edmaster93 oh i totally would, but i don’t have a playstation so im forced to watch from the sidelines
My goal in life is to suplex the sun!! Sad to hear this series is over can't wait for whatever you do in the future!
This series was awesome! I feel like VF has the most balanced roster (not in terms of tiers) because first of all it's a 3D game and one I've invested a lot of time with before already, it's a small, simple & effective roster, most of the characters are easy to pick up yet hard to master, making it a very nice challenge, it's pretty true to it's previous iterations, it has plenty of variety, it's not too flashy and the gameplay & animations are beautiful, which is why I play almost all of the characters (with the exception of Dural and Eileen).
Speaking of Dural though, I wonder...will we have an overview of her in the future?
Well dural here is not playable.
I imagine that the main reason I never got into Eileen is because she's just a much less effective version of Lion when you think about it, who's my main, but I also don't really like playing as a little girl I guess lol.
Yep, there's my main once I start.
♥😎
You can also customize him to look like Alex from Street Fighter 3
Bro my man actually used the term shoot correctly. Damn I'm here for it.
Finally!!! *Howls
Damn, TBS finished a character overview series.
These short videos Id imagine are easier to make while still being really educational to new and beginner level players.
Great job to everyone on these videos! Really interesting and helped me a learn a lot about VF, its characters, and gameplay.
Did You feel the REAL POWER? Go back to school. This Character is my FAVORITE VF character. Doing the Boom Boom Maru Back Crouch dash cancel feels so good. Also he is just a PERFECT wrestling character. So awesome! This was the Guide I wanted to see most and the wait was worth it.
Hawk Wolfield
I loved the part where you used the best Wolf theme 👏❤️
I dislike grapplers thanks to Zangief crazy spd back in SF II and in VF this guy is my no 1 character that i really hate to face far above Taka or Shun. I’d fought a very solid Wolf player (i think he’s rank 33th or something) and he drained my full health with just 2 combos and 1 throw 😭 . Fighting Wolf, a solid one, just give me a big headache since he have plenty of throw variations and if you made one mistakes then say goodbye to your health bar 😑
Wolf has some pokes. Lol theres his Elbow equivalent attack 3 P, 3 K a safe quick half circular mid kick that knocks down on CH, 3 K+G a safe(ish) half circular mid hitting kick that side collapses on Normal and Counter Hit and has far range, then there his tackle 46 P if you are feeling brave lol. He has 33 P a from crouch rising elbow that staggers on CH. Wolf is also is the only character in the game that has a 9 frame exe throw with Spinebuster (6 P+G).
Very underrated or downplayed character, online Wolf is a monster.
Yeah his issues is he can get out jabbed if not using tools properly and his catch throws can be countered by exp players.
@@mychaeljones7526 That can happen to any character lol. That why It important to know what your frames are. Jab on block is +2, meaning a elbow (or your 14 frame Elbow Class equivalant) is uninterruptable. If your Elbow Class 14 frame mid is blocked, and you are at -5 (this is with any attack that put you at -5) you Crouch Dash Fuzzy Guard (33 G) to option select ducking a throw and blocking a mid. Theres much more but theses are the basics.
Did he just said "no no-sells in sight"?
Now waiting for the in-depth character overviews
My main
Did he just do Cena's trademark move, the Attitude Adjustment?! XD
That was Burning Hammer. Lol
Awoooooo!!!
Nah, I refuse to believe that guy's only 220. I need King vs. Wolf in a Hell In A Cell for the heavyweight title with JR on the call. You'd actually get me to watch pro wrestling, then.
I loved these videos, by the way, even though I haven't played a VF since the Saturn. The quality on this channel never disappoints.
Thats what I said.. lol i can believe more around 280 lb at his height and massive frame..
@@jasonelbow3807 I know right? He looks like a defensive end, he's gotta be at least 240 - 250.
I still find it hilarious that this guy is what Japanese devs think 220lbs looks like.
His fighting style is reminiscent of wrestlers such as "Captain" Lou Albano, Robert Rudolph "Sgt. Slaughter" Remus, Hulk Hogan and "Macho Man" Randy Savage.
We'll never get a Wolf and King Tag game :(
No dural overview? Even tho she's a boss character, they still gave her a particularly deep moveset with high difficulty execution for some of the crazier moves
What makes her even more hilarious is she had a new stance that not only changed all of her moves, it also increases her weight class to Taka's
Wait, did he come first, did Tekken's King, or are they both references to the same thing? Just recognizing some move names.
He came first debut in VF1
Wolf=1993
King=1994
I don't agree at all that "Taka is the best or stronger grappler of the game".
Wolf is by far the number 1 grappler of VF...
Agreed, that's a fact, wolf is the first and still stronger grappler.
@@edmaster93 He is clairly the best grappler of the game. Wolf may have 30 throws, while Taka doesn't even have a low or a ground throw lol...
Well Trevor let me explain why. You break throws by in putting either neutral, back or forward and P+G. Wolf's most damaging throw ending in back (F5) does 75 dmg. His most damaging forward throw (Burning Hammer) does 100 dmg. Mind you, everyone only has 220 life points.. So the obvious throw to break with Wolf is forward. With Taka, both his forward and backward throws do 80. Thus making Taka have a true 50/50 throw mixup. Wheres Wolf doesnt. Wolf obviously does more damage but Taka throw mixup potential is more dangerous.
@@trevorbelmont5944 oh and Taka does indeed have low throws. No ground throws, but when you have the most damaging ground pounce in the game you really dont need one. Lol
@@jasonelbow3807 Yeah my bad about the mistake and forgot about the low throw of Taka...
But i'm sure 100% that Wolf is clearly and by far the best grappler of the game and of the entire franchise.
There was a real wrestler called Wolf Hawkfield in Japan.
What about dural
We are eagerly awaiting her return to Ultimate Showdown.. lol
222 lbs? Dude looks like 282 lbs bare minimum. Then again, SF5 says that 7'5" Sagat is 216 lbs.
Sega has buffed Jeffry and Wolf in term of visual presence since VF2. For the better in my opinion.
Jeffry is supposed to be only 6'2" but he looks very intimidating in the game like he could be more something like around 7'.
@@000shad The guy Jeffry is based off of is a 6 foot, 5 inch, Kyokushin Karate fighter Willie "Bear Killer" Williams.
@@AztecUnshaven Wow, i didn't Know that ! Thanks for the information.
So I have watched some Willie Williams videos, worth the look to see the cool similarities and references between them (the wildl style and some moves seem very similar and Jeffry got also an animal to beat the f. Up, the shark instead of the Bear xD)
noyce
Marduk
Well at least he's not named "Gunther" ugh
You’re character reviewers are really good, but the game still shit in my opinion.
really why didn't you like it ?
I find VF to be excellent. Nothing "shit" about it in the least. But hey your opinion.
Haha that mean you have a shitty taste then.
Btw why you comment in a video of a game you don't like, is even more weird.
@@theflashgordon193 I find the characters designs basic as fuck. Ether you’re white asian or black. Boring. I don’t like the fact I can’t control limbs like in Tekken. That was a small downside. The moves aren’t flashy ether. Then ring outs are cool.
@@orlanzo2621 that’s why we need a cross over with Tekken. So we could fight. Then truly communicate with each other.
