      Was just going to say that Worcestershire sauce is basically anchovies for flavour. Delicious with cheese on toast but you need a decent block of cheese and always grate (shred?). Avoid processed slices with the Lea and Perrins!!*
      *Hope that lazy stereotype is not too offensive! :)

    • @davidiusbrown
      @davidiusbrown Před 5 lety

      @alanrtment porter You are absolutely correct, but Lea & Perrins has a plant in New Jersey to make the grand old stuff for America. It's available everywhere in the US. We also have A1 Sauce, in identical square bottles, but I don't know if it's the same as HP sauce.

    Great Video !! I love bacon sarnies ! Here in California where I live , they do not sell British back bacon .I’ve checked every where and it’s NADA !?! Closest thing available is Canadian Bacon. Not quite the same thing but better than nothing! I never thought of combining the two different bacons or using Lea and Perrins. Thanks for the tip , I’ll definitely try!! I’m coming to London this summer and want to eat at on of the famous Cabmens Green Shelters and try their bacon butty. Have you tried them ? There’s 12 of the huts still open . Barry , could you please recommend the location of the Cabmen’s with the BEST food ? Also want to definitely want some fish and chips . Going to Poppies in Spitalfield. Can you recommend possibly one or two others? Thanks for all the wonderful videos. I love them all ! Lots of hard work involved making them!! Much appreciated! Major Anglophile here ! Great idea to mix the two bacon types in the same sandwich. I live in the United States so English bacon is virtually impossible to get. We can get something called "back bacon" in Canada, but it isn't the same. Nonetheless, I suppose I could make this with Canadian "back" or "peameal" bacon and streaky American bacon and that would be good in its own way.

    Not quite the way we do it in Yorkshire. First of all we would use a 'bread-cake' (this same item of food has differing regional names in the U.K. e.g 'bap', 'barm', 'cob'), not sure how they are referred to in the States, is it a biscuit? Although sourdough sounds an interesting alternative. Ensure the bacon is 'dry cured' so no shrinkage and no white 'gunk' comes out when fried. Also we in the North would use only lard, and using scissors snip along the fat on the back bacon at regular intervals as then the bacon rasher lies flat in the pan and crisps evenly all over and doesn't curl up, this is because the fat and meat although cooking at the same time react differently to heat. Marks and Spencer brown sauce is a good alternative to HP, it's made in the UK and cheaper. But please, tea with a bacon sandwich, not coffee! End of the day it all comes down to personal preferences, but that's the way my Mum made bacon sandwiches at home when I was a kid, I thought they were perfection and loved 'em, still do. However I'll give using both types of bacon and sourdough a try though, you can never stop learning!

    I love your channel and I'll always be a subscriber. BUT. I'm still getting over the horror of you making coffee with a cafetiere (in your fry up video), where you plunged it within seconds of adding the boiling water to the coffee. As a ex barista, it haunts me and would have been a sin if we have sent out a cafetiere like it at work. Please, please, make sure it sits for at least 3-4 minutes before plunging, it makes all the difference and gives you the best cup of coffee. Anyway, hope this doesn't offend you but its been bugging me. All the best and keep the vlogs coming. Regards.

      Holy sweet mother of god, i've just watched the rest of this video and you've done it again re the coffee! Ground coffee in. Boil kettle. Let water in kettle sit for 30 seconds before pouring into cafetiere (never pour boiling water into a cafetiere). Stir immediately and let sit for 3-4 minutes before plunging. I like to serve it on top of heat milk, which can be done in a pan or microwave. That's optional though. The other steps I hope you will follow! Kindest Regards

    Travesty Mr Roberts. I just checked my bottle of HP Sauce, and it's made in the Netherlands. A grand, old British institution, is no longer British. We will have to find another proper British sauce now.
